Save your time and money and skip them because they like to price gouge. I called based on a price I saw on thier website. 79 for water softener inspectation…..all I needed was the filter replaced. They came out and wanted to charge 400 for the replacement (did I mention I had the filter) they asked the manager who said 250 minimum to replace a filter…..of course I am on the hook for the 79 but next time I will not waste my time. Hired someone else to service it from now on.

Since the 8th of March, my renters  been battling this Florida heat. Last year, on July 13, my renters reached out to Joe Cool Home Services and got a quote along with a few others. Unfortunately, I wasn’t at the home during that time to deal with all the quotes we received along with Joe Cool. My husband is active duty Navy Navy and since he’s stationed in California, we’ve made the decision to move to California while the home in Florida is rented out. In March of this year, as I stated above, the AC we got from Joe Cool has been acting a bit strange. We know it’s under warranty so we called o have them take a look at it. That AC unit costed us over $10625 this past July.  When we had it install last year, my husband was on deployment and I figured whatever unit we can get at the moment will be better than nothing. Well, the technician came out to repair the AC unit we just got from them; not even a year ago. After the technician left, the AC worked but for a moment then for 2 days later it stopped. I called them myself and expressed my concerns because my 10 months old niece is in the house and it was urgent that the AC is fixed asap; not partially but completely. To no avail! And since the saga begun with the malfunctioned AC, the manager, Mike, went to the house to see why the AC wasn’t fixed yet by his technician. Then he kept making excuses without a care in the world of knowing the unbearable heat that the house consumed. He sent a team at the house with a window unit the week. At first, he said a mother board was blown out, so they ordered a replacement. The replacement didn’t arrived until another week later. Then after installing the new motherboard they ordered; the AC unit still didn’t work. Then the technicians told us we need a surge protector because of a power outage that happened the previous weekend. I specifically told the manager Mike I will not be replacing anything until they can reassure me the AC unit work was working . They replaced the surge protector and still the AC wasn’t working. I told Mike that they were trying to fix a broken AC unit by process of elimination which made no sense because if I hired you to be the expert so I expect you to be one. My mother going through menopause and my 10 months old niece are in this heated house with no help in sight. From my multiple conversations with the manager, it seems as if he doesn’t care. Case in point, I specifically told them if the surge protector doesn’t fix the AC, then I want a new AC unit and he said it doesn’t work that way for a unit that’s under one year old. Now the they replaced the surge protector and the AC unit is still not working. Now imagine three of Joe technicians at my house, one would assume at least one of these technicians knew what they were doing. Furthermore, I was told they need to replace a circuit breaker this time. I laughed to myself because I came to realize that not any of them knew why the unit wasn’t working?  A side note: I called the office multiple times; left messages for the manager to call me back to discuss further and to get my AC replaced. He kept ignoring my phone calls. He would call much later when he knew I wouldn’t be around to answer. Since our very last conversation, he has not spoken to me. My brother was told this past Monday, March 26 that they would install a new unit. Lo and behold! My brother got a call saying the manufacturer is refusing to replace the unit and they have to attempt to replace the condenser now. I did tell Mike that the AC unit they installed was a “lemon”. He refused to believe but here we are the 20 days later, the AC unit is still not working. And the house is beyond hot and unlivable. So please help me! They placed two temporary window units plus my my brother purchased another temporary window unit to try to live in the house with his wife, his daughter and his mom. I can only imagine how much the electricity bill is going to be next month. I really don’t know how Joe cool prioritizes their customers because obviously my case is not that serious for them to expedite the installment of a new AC unit

We paid over $1,200 on issues within our home only to be told we had to pay more money to resolve the issues. Joe Cool purchased Case Plumbing who initially installed our water heater in 2020 before my wife, and I purchased the home. The second plumber came out to our home and said that a filter would resolve the issue, and since Joe Cool purchased Case Plumbing, they should be able to work with us and get it covered under the warranty. The plumber came back and said they would not cover it, and we actually needed a water softener. I have spoken to my neighbors, and no one else has this issue or has a water softener. To install one is going to cost thousands of dollars. Our second issue is that our kitchen drain keeps backing up. They ran a snake down it twice (the first visit & third visit), then used a pressurized technique to push anything that may be stuck. Neither worked, and we were told we had to rip off the floor (worse case) to repipe or create new piping outside to clean the piping from the outside. In any case, just locating the pipe costs almost 1k. This does not include any crazy add-ons they will include if we go with any of these options. The only thing they helped us with was a clogged shower drain and a leaked faucet. In short, they did not resolve the two main issues and just told us it was going to cost more. They purchased a company that installed our water heater but will not take responsibility for the water heater itself or the warranty since they claim its the water quality, but my neighbors don't have the same issue (again they don't have water softener) then we have this continued kitchen sink issue. I would not recommend them. They will quickly take your money and just add additional "cost" to the job.

It went very well! I had a 1 yr maintenance contract with another AC company. Apparently, they went out of business, and Joe Cool took over their accounts. A rep from Joe Cool called me earlier in the week and told me about this and said they were honoring these contracts. I called them back yesterday to discuss and make an appt. They were able to come out this morning. I received a text before my appt timeframe (8-10am) with a picture of their employee, plus his name. When I clicked on it, it brought me to their website with a short write-up about Todd so I could "get to know him." I also received a call from Todd to let me know he was on his way. Todd arrived on time and performed the maintenance on our two AC units. Everything went well & he did not find any issues. Once he was done, he shared a recommendation for us to consider and also shared the specifics on Joe Cool's annual maintenance plan. I asked him if there were any coupons on Angie's List and he did not know. I pulled up Angie's List and found the "D" rating and all the bad reviews from 2017 and prior. That surprised & worried me!! When I told him what I saw, he explained that Joe Cool had been taken over by NEW OWNERS, a husband and wife, and they were trying really hard to turn it around. Based on my experience today, I WOULD RE-HIRE this company! We'll need to discuss the 1 yr maintenance contract, but Todd said I could call the office if/when we decided we wanted it, and they can sign me up over the phone. My bill was shared with me in detail and then emailed to me - $0 today! They did honor the contract I had with the previous company. THANK YOU, I appreciate the high level of Customer Service. It's hard to find...

The visit and review of my current system went well. However, the Tech said he would send out a quote in the next couple days. After a week went by, I sent an email to the company requesting the quotes to be sent. I still haven't heard back from them after 3 weeks.

They came and replaced it in one day. The guaranteed me I was good to go. I have bad allergies so I asked that they please assure me that any mold would be taken care of. Not knowing the first thing about ACs, I trusted them. WOOPS. When the gentleman came out to do the permit, it failed. Another man came out and informed me that the installation was done poorly and yes there did need to be fixing. The best part was when he showed me all the mold all around the unit then told me it'd be another 7,000 to have it all taken care of. Sorry, I don't have that kind of cash just laying around. I was very disappointed and can only PRAY that it passes inspection and I can be DONE (minus the loan I'll still get to pay every month while I breathe in my delicious mold.) Really though, the best part all these inconveniences is getting to turn the AC off for hours during summer in FL with little ones.

Over seven years, they collected more than $10,000 by bullying, threatening me, a disabled senior, selling me overpriced equipment and services, but ignored the true problem that eventually ruined my health.. Duct systems age with the home, collecting dirt and disintegrating into the home and poisoning indoor aiir quality. After they stirred up dirt and fiberglass in the decaying ducts with a rotobrush, claiming to clean them, I became violently ill. A pile of dust remained in the duct connecting to the air handler Another business removed and replaced the duct system, built a new return air system for $2,000, the smell was gone.

They did the duct cleaning and It ended up stirring up a great deal of dirt and I became very ill with a sinus infection. I called them March 10th and they told me that I need new ducts. I asked why they performed a vent cleaning when I needed new ducts. The girl I talked to would not tell me the name of the owner and no one ever called me back. I saw a Dr. on April 1st who prescribed a CT scan of the sinuses and referred me to an ENT surgeon who took a biopsy. A bacterial infection was found. I am still sick with this. I have used Joe Cool AC & Heating of the Suncoast Inc for approximately 5 years and had told them in the beginning that the house had a bad smell. About 3 years ago they pushed me into buying a new air conditioning unit for $6000.00. I have since learned that when they installed the new AC unit they should have installed new duct work at that time. They also sold an Airknight system to me for $2500.00 that was supposed to sanitize the air through the duct work. So in closing, I have spent about $10000.00 with this company and they never fixed the problem. I feel that they took advantage of the fact that I am older and disabled.

Last year, after high pressure sales job regarding supposed need for redone ductwork they did not get required permit so inspection was not done. Installation of ductwork done incorrectly. I only learned today that a permit was required. I now think very likely the job was unnecessary and they sold me a bill of goods. This year I called just because didn't know where to get the air filter I got from them. They came for a check, gave a very smooth introduction, kind of sneaking into the deal, then and (falsely) claimed I had a freon leak and tried to sell me a new system in a high pressure way!  A subsequent company tested and said no freon is leaking at all (same day), and the system is working perfectly. That tech tried to bilk me out of some $8000 to $18,000! Nice job but this time they didn't get it! Note to self: always get several opinions and read reviews first! (They were associated with AHS home warranty company, which was where I first got the reference. I've dropped them also.)

We used Joe Cool AC & Heating of the Suncoast Inc.  They were here January eleventh or twelfth.  It was $75 for just a diagnostics.  It took them a real long time to respond and come out.  We were without heat for two weeks.  We originally were mad at them because they said it was an electrical problem and we need an electrician it was an a/c problem and they wouldn't come back out and then they finally did and after we yelled at them a little bit, we checked everything.  The only problem was they were a little slow to respond.  I think they were good pricing.  They didn't charge us for the second visit so I was pleased with that.

My AC went out in Oct and I was getting a few estimates prior to the work, but needed the work done that week.   I was out driving and saw a Joe cool truck so I called them.   They came right over for an estimate.    The guy that came was very nice, but not too professional with certain things he did.   I threw out his card, otherwise I would give his name.    My issue was first he tried to sell the me the most expensive units (i wanted a quote to replace both my ACs)  So I asked him how much a mid range unit was.   Well as he is figuring the quote he is telling me that my supports in my attic had to be replaced and needed an engineer to redo them.   I told him I only bought the house last year and it passed inspection and even received a discount for the roof.   They said "I dont know how".     So they wanted an extra $1500 for engineering and replacing of the 2"/4"s.    All this  is being done while the guy made him self at home and sat at my dining room table while calling his boss back and forth and then having me talk to him.   What was weird is I was not the one who sat down first.   He did...   We went back and forth for about 20 mins of him and his boss on the phone trying to tell me to replace the roof supports.     They ended up giving  me a quote of $12500 for both units and replacing the roof supports.   They said  it would not pass inspection by the county without replacing them.   I said then I will fix the roof.   They ended up coming down to $10500, but would make me sign something that they are not liable if something happen.   In the mean time I received a quote for under $8k for both units and the other company never said anything about the roof.    After he left, he called me about a hour later asking if I spoke to my wife and made a decision  and I said no... He then calls back again to say that he has a crew off the following day and wants to give them work and does not want to lay anyone off and he would come down to $10k total if I agreed right then.   I said no again as I had to speak with my wife.     So in the long run, I went with the other company for around $7800 total with  nothing done to the roof and it passed inspection with flying colors.       I would never recommend a company that pushes and pushes for an upsale that is not needed.   Or the fact that he tried to make me feel guilty by telling me he may have to lay off workers.
UPDATE ON JAN 25
The Salesman (Patrick) that came to my house ran into me at a local restaurant.   I did not notice him.   He noticed me.   He comes up, shakes my hand and says "thanks for the yelp review you d*****-bag".   I was so stunned that any salesman would ever do that.   I think people need to learn from bad reviews not attack the person.    Now is that a company that you want working at your house. .

Saw company at the Tampa Home show. told them my AC was around 10 years old, they sent a guy out free of charge to inspect. My old AC was an 8 SEER unit had A LOT of mold growing inside, the coils were disgusting looking and looked rusted. The outside pipe was freezing and the old unit was beginning to show its age in both efficiency of cooling the house and in cost. Tim B. came out. He suggested some repairs and gave a rough estimate of the cost, about 1k and even suggested I just wait until it dies which could be any time now. My intention was to replace the AC unit anyways due to to the mold and the age of the unit. And being in Florida, not having an AC working is an excuse to go to the hotel for the night.
I was hesitant to use the company at first due to the ratings I have seen here, but given Tim's character and how hard he worked to give me a good deal and the amount of time he spent going over things with me... I decided to give them a shot.
We came to an agreeable price for a 3 ton 16 SEER Carrier Comfortmaker. Based on some prior research this seemed a fair price for my area.
Two employees from Joe Cool came out the next day after I was done with work to install the unit, Yaz and Bert. Tim even stopped by to check things out and say hi. Everyone was very friendly! Liked the two installation techs right off the bat, they were very cool guys. Answered all of my annoying questions without hesitation even while continuing to work. Gave me some advice to extend the life of my investment and went over the maintenance information briefly to make sure i understood that for the next 3 years someone from Joe Cool would be coming out to make sure that the unit was running optimally. I plan to update this post at each of those occasions.
Another visit was required to install the heating element. Sooter (sp?) came out and was ready to hit the ground running and knew exactly what he needed done. It took roughly an hour and everything was all set. We scheduled the city inspection. I will report the results of that if there are issues, otherwise everything has turned out great!
I am a new home buyer and naturally skeptical. Given the character of the men that i spoke with in person it seems like they are going to live up to their promise of quality work. I will keep up to date of my dealings with this company as a whole.

Update 1: Inspection was done and the City inspector signed off on the work done.

Every time they come back they tell me that there is a problem with the way the unit was installed and want $$ to fix it What they forget is that they installed the AC in the first place , so there sloppy work is the real problem  Once the warrantee is over  I will never call them again. I consider them a bunch of con artists always fishing for more work, when there is either no problem with my AC unit or there is a problem that was caused by there sloppy install work

Board Member Jack Joyner Sr. and Skip the Mechanical Inspector.  They both told me that there are no such county or state fees and Mr. Joyner told me he has heard complaints about Joe Cool before.  Mr. Joyner asked if they had given me a written estimate which they had not.  I called as asked for a written estimate and was faxed the chargers on a plain piece of paper with no letter head, name, address, etc.  Mr. Joyner asked me to fax it to him so he could take a look at it and he couldn't believe the charges and the fact that it was hand written on a plain piece of paper.

My husband and I ended up taking the buy out from American Home Shield, which is the dollar amount they will give you if you want to get it replaced yourself.  Of course it wasn't enough to cover the total cost of the replacement but at that point we didn't want Joe Cool coming back to our house at all.  We had Accent Air do the replacement with an upgrade for a very reasonable price.  I would recommend Accent Air to anyone, they are great.

Joe Cool is not listed with the BBB but does have 23 complaints on their web site.

Avoid this company like the plague!!  They had performed a minor repair on my old a/c in April, 2012 as the a/c repair company for American Home Shield.  I have been a member of American Home Shield for 4 years (a wise decision).  The repair was done satisfactorily in every way.  The repair tech wrote that the a/ c "tested fine at this time".  The compressor had already been replaced by American Home Shield (by another A/C company).  I understand that Joe Cool changed ownership after that successful repair. Their new staff, with their unbelievably aggressive marketing team sold me a $49 "maintenance check" on my system after calling me several times a week for about six weeks. I kept saying "no" but the staff member always argued and had an answer for my objections.  Finally i gave in as I had decided to sell my house.  The tech was to check my system and add  1 lb. of Freon if needed for a guaranteed price of $49.  Enter the scam artist Steve who arrived on Sept 26, 2013 and presented himself as a tech.  I understand now that he is a marketing employee.  He proceeded to "check my system and then he sat down with me to give me the news that my compressor was running very hot - drawing 296 volts and 208 was the max that is safe.  He said my wires could get hot and burn my house down.  It was so serious that he was supposed to pull the circuit breaker and de-activate the system. But he wouldn't do that.  He would put me on an emergency schedule and install a new system the next day.  But I had no choice - had to replace the system.  Air coming out of the vents was too warm - and truthfully my electric bill had increased, but the outdoor temp had been very warm, so who knows?  Also Steve said my whole system was LOADED with mold.  Steve frightened me so much about the fire that I didn't sleep that night.  Ironically my electricity went off momentarily about 3 AM and I rushed to turn the A/C off. I told Steve that I wanted to shop for systems and that I wanted a 15 Seer.  He said I didn't need that and they would have to replace my vents to accommodate more air flow.  Turns out I have HUGE vents.  He wrote up the order for "just what i needed".  Turned out to be the very LOWEST system in the Carrier line - an older model at that!!  My old system was a model at the top of Carrier's line.  Two techs arrived the next day to install the system.  When they removed my old system I questioned them about the condition of the old system.  They said there was no way anyone could tell if the moderate amount of growth in my air handler could be mold without lab tests.  It looked like wet dust. When Steve priced the system at $7,962 he said that American Home shield would give me a large rebate - up to $2,500.  He called in to his office and had someone call American Home Shield and they gave us $2100 rebate, according to him.  I called AHS and they said they do not do that, and did not do that in this case.  Another falsehood!!  The air handler is extremely noisy, the air returns roar and I m still waiting for a county inspector to do a final inspection. My old system cooled better..  I feel scammed!  Don't count on the 5% Senior discount that they advertise.

Lance was sent out to connect the gas line to my furnace as the first company didn't do that when they fixed the broken part.  I also had another claim open under AHS because my motor went out on the A/C unit. Lance was diligent enough to check that as well.  He confirmed it was the motor. He had a motor in his truck, so he checked with AHS and was able to install it on the spot.  He went above and beyond to make sure it was fixed.  I wish AHS had sent Joe Cool (and Lance) the first time and fixed it all!

I have a home warranty with AHS and an appointment was scheduled for this morning between 9-12.  By 8:30 the service man "Scooter" called to inform me that he was on his way.  He was professional, knowledgeable and thorough and got my units up and running for the total cost of $75.00 which was the  fee that AHS had told me the service call would be.  He made suggestions on making my house more energy efficient and recommendations on new units which I will certainly take under consideration.  I will use them again.

I got AHS home warranty. The contractor was referenced by AHS since A/C was not working. Contractor was given access since I was not at home. The next day a very pushy lady called me asking for CC credentials for immediate payment. I asked for getting an invoice first to check what they did. She insisted if payment was not received today they gonna go back and remove freon. How is that?
It turned out instead of $75 for the service call, they were trying to collect $420 for freon. The price of freon was stated with $70 / lbs. I never approved that. I called other local A/C contractors and they charge $30 /lbs.
I have sent them an email and fax so they trespass when they come back. I am happy to pay a reasonable amount, however this company is trying to steal.
I am deeply concerned, a shame that AHS is referencing such companies.

The employee Brian came to inspect. He concluded that the entire system needed to be replaced and would not be covered under warranty at a cost of 8,000.00. We requested a second opinion from the warranty company. After we had a second opinion saying it only needed one part then Joe Cool had to come back and order the part. Then come back AGAIN to put the part on. This could have been avoided by getting an accurate assessment during the first visit. The employee who installed the part said this employee had made inspection visits into sales calls in the past, as well.
