They are a good company.

Due to the fact that I had recently become a widow, I was looking for a contractor who would be honest, professional and, most of all, highly skilled in his work. My biggest fear was that I would be taken advantage of and/or end up with a poor outcome. When I met with Rick Vaughn, I knew that he had an excellent reputation with those who had recommended him and it quickly became apparent why. After explaining my basic ideas, Rick was quick to chime in with some excellent suggestions that would not only give me what I wanted, but also save me money. He very carefully outlined his fees, billing process and work hours so that there were no unexpected surprises. After starting the extensive renovation, there were numerous times that I wanted to make changes and, amaxingly enough, there was never a problem. On the other hand, when I was headed in the wrong direction, Rick would always be quick to suggest that "I might want to think about that" which meant that he had a better idea (and he always did !!). Since the renovation was so extensive, in both time and labor, Rick had the codes to enter our home and I never once questioned that decision. With that said, I also felt safe and trusting with each subcontractor that came through, even the times that I was home alone with them. Each one was personable, kind, very neat and always quick to help me with something if I needed a quick favor, Their work was always reviewed personally by Rick and any questionable issues were dealt with quickly and completely. Above and beyond the scope of his work, Rick seemed to also keep an eye on the pool contractor that I had hired, knowing that I was a little unsure about the actual quality of his work. With suggestions here and there from Rick, I was more confident in confronting that contractor with my issues. As a single woman, I could never have imagined doing this renovation with anyone but Rick Vaughan. His work was impeccable, his rate was fair, I always felt valued as a customer and my faith in him never waivered.

Our goal was for the addition to look like the rest of the house and not be noticeable as an addition, and Rick Vaughan respected that goal in every detail. As project manager for the job, Rick himself came to the house almost every day that sub-contractors were present, and he did a lot of the work himself. When we needed to match new drywall with some existing plaster in a hallway, he was not pleased with the initial contractor and called another one. The result is that today it is impossible to tell the plaster from the drywall. Moreover, when the painting contractor was not doing the quality of work that Rick expected, Rick took over the painting himself, and the result is that all the woodwork will not need to be painted for many years. In addition, Rick pointed out things that we had not noticed. For example, when the ventilated openings between the ground and the floor were misplaced, he had them moved up. When doing a renovation, it is important to have some flexibility during the process, and Rick was easy to communicate with and was amenable to changes during the process. Finally, Rick's pricing is fair and he was willing to explain it to us. We are pleased with our addition and would call Rick for any future work. He sets high quality standards for himself and his subcontractors. .
