Suncoast Electric & Air

We had  a power surge that caused an issue with our A/C they advised us the issue was typically caused by a power surge sand we should have FPL check it out FPL came out and can only check that no issues coming into the panel they cant open the other side of the panel we would have to call an electrician so my husband Called  Suncoast Electric and Air Inc they were located  right up the road from us. Brent D showed up was very nice but looked at the panel for about 10 mins and said  he was not getting a reading on one of the terminals. He said he tried to tighten the screws but it would not tighten so we needed a brand new panel as he could not  tell who the manufacture he inferred it was no good  was and if it was in warranty still . So for $2200 we  he would replace the panel and clean the breaker box we had to pay $200 up front for the work he did but would be deducted from the $2200. We decided for that money lets get a second opinion so we called Sherman Electric this man stood in rain checking out our panel for 45-60 minutes and told us that only thing he found was just a loose screw and he tightened it immediately he wanted to make sure nothing else was going on that would cause a fire. When I asked for the bill he told me it was no charge all he did was tighten a screw , he also told us the panel we had was a well known manufacture while not in warranty was  a good one and he recommended no change. We were so grateful we gave him $75.00 and had him return to do another job we had been putting off. I called Brent at Suncoast I wanted to make sure he knew that I felt he was not ethical he really didn't have a good answer of why the variance when I asked for my $200.00 back he said that's what he gets for just opening the panel. I waited several months before I wrote this review as I work with large manufactures and wanted to give Suncoast the benefit of the doubt I don't like giving bad review and wanted to make sure nothing ese would go wrong.Its been 5 months and we have had an engineer friend add  monitor on for 30 days and not one issue so the tightening of the screw worked. I caution anyone who uses Suncoast could be just one bad apple or uninformed worker but beware and get a second opinion and watch that fee that turns into $200.00.
