I worked with Sherry Gottlieb & I had a lot of problems. Per my very initial conversation upon hiring her - I was 1000 miles away in Louisiana - I told her I'd just moved to Louisiana & the property was fixed up & ready for sale. I told her what I wanted the selling price to be. I told her exactly what I wanted in my pocket after all fees. She actually listed the house for $25K LESS than what I asked for! We argued back & forth about the selling price. She insisted that it wouldn't appraise for that price. She also told me that other homes in the area were selling for lower. I told her that that may be the case, but they didn't have the lake-front view, extensive property, & square footage of mine, nor were they fixed up & move in ready like mine. Finally my husband called & told her to list the house at the required price. She bumped it up only $10K more. We were still arguing about it. Again, my husband called her & told her to list it for what we wanted or she'd be fired. Within a week we had 3 different offers at our requested selling price. Eventually our 4th pre-approved buyer got the loan & we closed on the house. Again, this whole time I was a 1000 miles away. We hired a lawyer that would represent us during the closing. Before the closing, she called us & said that the buyers wanted to move into the property. Until closing is done & my lawyer signs for me on the dotted line, I'm responsible for the property. I was very wary of that situation. However, she talked me into letting them move property into the garage only. As it turned out, they actually moved into the house fully! My brother who lives next door to the property told me about it. I called Sherry & told her - She asked me how I knew. She flat out lied to me, saying that the house is closed on because the buyers had signed everything. I told her that's not the case because I hadn't signed nor had I received a penny in the transaction. At that point I only had her word that they had the loan - I didn't even have any paperwork proving they'd acquired the loan or signed any other closing paperwork. I called my lawyer who confirmed I was correct. I asked the lawyer to draw up an addendum releasing me from all liability if they're going to stay there. Anything could've happened & I'd be liable & they have kids. I called Sherry saying that she'd be getting this document & that they were going to sign it or I'd have the police come over & kick them out. I was ready to jump on a plane & go there myself to do it. She continued to argue with me. Eventually though they had the buyers sign reluctantly. I feel she took advantage of the fact that I was so far away at all chances - from start to finish. I even filed a complaint with the board of realtors.
