We first learned of Chris and Island View Builders through Smith Building Specialities. We needed to replace original exterior doors in windows in a 40 year old home and were checking out the Anderson products at Smiths. Trey gave us Chris' contact information to seek additional help with the selection and installation process. We then checked the reviews on Angie's list and gave Chris a call. He was prompt and extremely helpful in determining what we would need and provided several options and costings. We also had to work around some tight work and travel schedules and Chris' flexibility was greatly appreciated. Materials were delivered on 6 January and work began promptly the very next day. Despite the fact that this turned out to be an extremely frigid weather period, the Island View Builders teams put in non-stop, full days to remove all the old windows and doors, reinstall new energy efficient products, custom cut and paint new indoor trims and rehang all window treatments. The job posed some challenges as the brick home required the windows to fit the openings appropriately on the outside and thus required some tailored builds and adjustments made on the inside. The net result is beautiful! The house has so much more light and yet is so much tighter and secure. And we can actually open the windows now! Besides being very efficient and professional, the teams also did a terrific job of cleaning up at the end of each day. We will definitely seek out Island View Builders for future home remodeling and repair projects and highly recommend them.

Chris came to our rescue!
I would highly recommend using Chris and Island View Builders to anyone wanting a bathroom remodel and probably more. First the price we paid for the work his team did was inline with all the other estimates we got. Second, Dean, who did our tiling, was prompt, professional, and meticulous. We called Chris on Wednesday, he came out on Friday to do an estimate, we had the estimate by Saturday, and Dean started work on Monday. We got lucky because Dean was in between jobs, but even if we had to wait it would have been worth it. All the grout lines are perfectly aligned and level. The shower insert looks great, especially with the removable glass shelves. Dean even built us a small foot rest in the corner of the shower.
We also had a pocket door put in. The company that installed the pocket door was unable to do the drywall. Chris called in his drywall and painting crew. They came in within 1-2 days and fixed the wall between the bedroom and the bathroom. We also had them paint the bedroom and bathroom. They did a decent job. They do need to remove switch plates and towel racks instead of trying to just paint around them. I have had to scrape paint off these and touch up some places on our bedroom wall where you could see through the new paint. They also dripped paint on the floor which I cleaned up and streaked a painted fingerprint across one of our paintings.
I have rental properties, so when I need more work done I will not hesitate to call Island View Builders. And, when we decide to retile our backsplash and fireplace I definitely want to rehire Dean.

It was a good experience. The pricing was good. They were very careful about their work. They were on time and they cleaned up after themselves.

He is a general contractor. He is very good at what he does. He is very attentive and knows what he is doing. He does some of the labor himself. He is very good at record keeping, and he is fair with his costs.

Cris is very professional and did an outstanding job. Job stayed on time and mostly on budget. Some changes we asked for increased the price by $600. We are going to use him again next year for a kitchen remodel.

We first contacted Chris and Wendy at Island View Builders because they had remodeled a bathroom for a friend and coworker who praised their work. On the first day we contacted them, Chris came to meet us and see our bathroom within hours. I think we agreed to a 5:30 p.m. appointment, and he was prompt. When he first saw the bathroom, which was totally functional but unattractive, he asked what we wanted. We really didn't know, having only looked around at Lowes and Home Depot and leaving uninspired. But we did want an attractive and functional bathroom that fit the character of our older, wood frame house, and we told him we hoped to get it for around $10,000 or less. Chris said he thought we could do that, that we should sit down with him and Wendy for design ideas, and we could pull it together and do it within 2 to 3 months.
We made another appointment for Chris and Wendy to come by, and Wendy brought a few design ideas and got a sense of our taste and decor. Chris measured everything again, then the women went on a shopping trip to suppliers we would never have dreamed existed. Before you go shopping at Lowes or Home Depot, go shopping with Wendy first. And Wendy was able to track down anything they couldn't find at the suppliers. Wendy's attention to detail is awesome, and everything matches beautifully.
From our first contact with Chris and Wendy, it took about two to two and a half months to get everthing together, including a custom built vanity. Once we had everthing, destruction of the old bathroom took one day, and istallation of everything new with a beautiful paint job took about nine working days -- they started on Monday of one week, and finished on Friday of the next. Everything is beautiful and functional beyond our expectations, they came in about $700 below their estimate, they were professional and prompt throughout the entire process, and they've urged us to call them if anything breaks or doesn't seem right.
We will be calling them again, but it's more likely to be for our next remodeling project.

We started looking at windows at the big box stores, had one of them come out and give us a quote. We also looked at a local shop who sold Andersen Windows. We liked the windows and they seemed very knowledgeable. Asked who did the installation and they said they have used Island View Builders quite a bit. They know the windows and are very good to work with. When the local shop came out to do a quote, he brought Chris from Island View with him. As they went through the house and measured, we could tell they knew what they were talking about as they discussed with each other how to handle some of the windows. The quote came in close to the big box stores quote, we decided to go local. Before the windows were ordered the local shop came out again as did Chris to make sure all of their measurements were correct and to finalize everything before ordering the windows. When the windows came in, Chris had them delivered to the house and started within the week. Everything would have been finished in a week had it not been for needing to order a new part from Andersen and having to wait for it, but everything else was done except for that one window. Even though this snag was nothing he caused, he worked with the local shop to get the new parts ordered without causing us any inconvenience. Even though he had completed 95% of the job, he did not ask for any payment until the whole job was finished. Chris was always trying to cause as little stress for us through the process. He would keep us informed on how things were progressing. He was very professional. I felt like he was always giving it to us straight and not trying to upsell or get more money out of us. The cost actually came in under his initial estimate. Would use them again.
Response from Island View Builders Inc
"The members were a pleasure to work with. When customers identify their desires and needs it makes it easier for us to fulfill them. The members also made sure everything was ready for us and communicated openly. When working in a customer's home it helps to know how to handle pets, air conditioning, personal items, parking and any particular areas of concern. The Westlakes made all this possible and we all thank them for their consideration and kindness. Chris"
