"This gentlemen brought his truck by recently. We had installed a set of hinge bushings, these are bushings, not intire hindge assemblies. We had done the job almost three years ago.He showed me the door and explained his theory that we had somehow, in the process of changing the bushings, worn the paint down on the very top edge of the door, above the window, thus inducing the clearcoat/topcoat paint to peel.I explained the process of replacing these bushings, which does not include removal of the door. The door is carefully supported by the bottom, the hinge pins are removed and the door slid away from the body about 6-8 inches to allow access to the bushings.Door removal is not neccesary and would require a complete removal of the doors inner door panel and wiring harness.I can't honestly see any way that we could have removed the paint across the entire top edge of the door, above the window, during this repair. The top of the door is just not utilized or stressed in any way during this repair. I would like to conclude by stating that I paid $2000.00 to have my Chevy truck repainted, due to clearcoat peeling, when it was only 8 years old. This gentlemens truck is almost ten years old and I suspect he will have clearcoat peeling start to show up in other areas in the near future.I love these trucks but the paint is terrible on them."
"We have been in business for over 17 years and strive to offer a good value to all our customers. We have ASE certified Master auto technicians, that receive updated training on a regular basis .We give our best to our customers and truly care about every one of them.I have hired excellent people and am proud of my crew. We were recently voted "Best of Bay" 2012. We indeed do have different labor rates based on the difficulty of the job,oil change labor, for instance runs on average, $15.00 per hour. Diagnostic work that requires a master technician and possibly tens of thousands of dollars worth of diagnostic equipment and information systems naturally demands a higher labor rate.We charge $95.00 per hour with one hour being the average diagnostic charge, even when it takes longer.Skilled Mechanical labor is $83.75 per hour, which I have found to be in line with the better more qualified shops in town. This rate is based on the industry standard using the AlI Data flat rate book. Most jobs take longer than the actual hours we charge you for, sometimes considerably longer.I can but won't name several local shops that are considerably higher than we are. I don't blame people for price shopping, but when it comes to my safety, I generally look to find the value on a quality product .I want a high quality doctor, I want high quality tires on my family car,and I want a high quality parachute too! That's why Angie's list is so important, it helps people get more value for their money, and that's what keeps our customers coming back year after year. Sincerely, Mike Gagnon."
