The Cox team did a fantastic job, start to finish. Every contact and encounter was good. The crews where all professional, and I've seen other company crews that do not compare. Sales was done by Tom "Bing" and he's great. The dig, build, shotcrete, and application of wet edge "plaster" was great. The actual rebar structure process was an eye opener. This pool is basically a bridge under ground. It won't go anywhere! They took extra care with ensuring this pool will give us a long life, and did great leveling the yard after bringing in dirt. The finished product is beautiful and easy to maintain. After 1 year of service an accessary sanitizer (UV light machine) broke due to a factory defect resulting in a 100% failure rate. Cox handled it very well.

On the recommendation of 5 coworkers who all had cox pools and LOVED them, I used Cox for my pool. London Cole was my salesman and he was terrific! Every interaction with him was professional and his attention to detail and custom design work was outstanding. This was my second pool project so I knew what to look for. Landon said it would take 6 to 8 weeks but my pool was completed in 5 weeks. All of their crews were professional, courteous and respectful of my property. Pricing was below the estimates of the other pool companies and I decided that using a company that has built pools since 1958 was probably a good idea. We are thrilled with how the pool turned out and very happy I listened to 5 previous customers. You will not regret using the best in the business!

The quality of the pool and the associated equipment has been remarkable.  They installed a salt water system with the multi-speed pump and the "eco system".  The eco system has a modulator valve that continually moves the intake ports around that provides for better circulation and a more consistent water balance.  This was an option that I would highly recommend.

Dealing with the salesman (Ryan Orr) was an exercise in futility, and I wonder if the owner realizes that this individual is not the best contact person.  We have had a few warranty issues and Cathy Snow has been very responsive, but do not expect same day or next day service technicians to show up.

I have had 8 swimming pools installed over the last 40 yrs.  This install has put me and my family through H_LL..  Not to mention that the employees always complained to me about their  working conditions. When they say they will take of any problems,,,DO NOT COUNT ON IT....  I will bring in another company to finish this mess...

They are local contractors. I would never use them again. I did choose to go with them after doing a lot of research but it has been a very very bad experience. In the beginning part of it, the salesman that they set me up with had lied to me about my permits and some other issues. And so, they gave me a different salesman that took off okay with everything. When they were halfway through with the swimming pool, I did not see them. Nobody came by and nobody called me for three weeks. So then, they got that from the bowl after I complained several time and they started to finish the swimming pool but it has been eight weeks now and my swimming pool is still not finished. They also would not return my calls. The last time that I spoke to them, they said that they will be out the following day but they did not call me and did not come to my house, no acknowledgement whatsoever. Their price was not bad and their employees were incredible but the sales staff was their issue.

"[member name removed], We are sincerely sorry that your first impression of our company was not our best; however, we worked diligently to start you up with a new salesperson. Understanding that we were fighting an uphill battle to change your initial impression of us, we did offer discounts on the pool to show our sincerity and diligence in correcting any problems and issues you had already faced. With this swimming pool construction season being quite a rainy one, your project was in fact delayed by a couple of weeks due to weather constraints, and for that we apologize it was not completed in the usual 6-8 weeks timeframe. We hope that the end product can forgive all and that you have a swimming pool in your backyard that is of superior and quality construction that will last you and your family a lifetime of fun memories and relaxation. If we can do anything else to repair this relationship, please contact me at your convenience to discuss further. Respectfully, Jerry Hofer, Sales Manager Cox Pools 850.235.7957"

We signed the contract March 27, 2009, but the field review with the project manager did not happen until April 20, 2009. Part of the delay was due to our personal schedule. The project manager and salesman arrived on April 20 and we reviewed the plans. Unfortunately the salesman left the company a week or so later, so all our verbal understandings went away with him. (The project manager never showed up on our project again until much later, until things got so ugly that we had to force the issue. He came reluctantly). On April 21 2009, the construction crew arrived to begin excavating for the pool. The excavation crew was NOT Cox Pools, but a separate company that was owned by the same people who own Cox Pools. This crew considered itself an independent contractor and refused to remove a buried metal pipe that we had agreed to have Cox remove for us. Fortunately we had included that item as a handwritten note on the contract, so we called Cox Pools and they directed the contractor to remove it. It made the contractor very angry. The next day, a different construction crew ( another independent contractor subsidiary of Cox) showed up, ready to build the concrete part of the pool. They had not told me they needed to have running water. So I had temporarily disconnected the power to the well pump. When they realized the water was off they began loading the trucks to leave, even though I was telling them to give me 15 minutes and the water would be back on. I did get the water on within the time I told them, but they were loaded and determined to leave. So I called the project manager, who finally called them and told them to stay. The work went reasonably well, the crew was very knowledgeable about setting the forms and applying the concrete, and as of yet (4 years) no cracks in the pool. However, during construction the overspray from the shotcrete deposited a layer of cement dust on my roof (which is made of an alloy of aluminum & steel). I brought that to their attention, so at the end of the day the supervisor sent a worker on the roof with a mop and hose to clean it. Unfortunately, they did not tell me they were using muriatic acid on my metal roof. When I realized what was happening, I stopped him and told them to use water only. The worker had to come back a second day to finish the cleaning. The backfill and piping seemed to go OK, although the work was slow because of extraordinarily wet weather. The tractor operator appeared to be very inexperienced and bogged down so much that he put deep ruts in the yard where he should never have been. After the pool itself was complete, a third "independent contractor" arrived to do the concrete pool deck construction. They ran out of concrete half way through the work, and had to suspend work. They left the "unfinished edge" so out-of-level that it could not be corrected by the next days pour. And they did not even try to fix it. In addition they put in the deck drain at a crazy angle, that looked as if it had been done by an amateur. Then, when scribing the slab expansion joints, their saw ran away with them and one joint looked like where a snake had crawled. This is where things got ugly and we forced the project manager to show up. He finally ordered someone to grind down the hump and re-cut the grooves, which took at least a day. When the Cox Pool tech showed up to paint the deck, he spent almost a day painting the lip of the pool. We left him to his work, then about three hours later we walked over to check. We told him it was the wrong color, so he looked at the paint bucket label and realized he had indeed brought the wrong color, not what we had in the contract.  Cox had to order more paint (they did not have our color in stock) and came back a few days later to finish painting. After the construction work was done there was still piles of earthwork that had not been leveled. We contracted with a separate firm (no connection to Cox Pools) to erect a screen enclosure. That was done excellently. However, the Cox Pools tractor operator arrived late one afternoon without notice just as we were leaving home. He was out of gas so I gave him five gallons for his tractor, and left him to do the work. When we returned we found that he had knocked down a large section of the screen enclosure with his tractor. After several failed starts, Cox Pools eventually paid the screen contractor to replace the damaged area. Then the electrical company hired by Cox showed up to install the electrical outlets we had agreed on. He installed what we understood was included in the contract, and said nothing. Then we got a bill for $700 for "extra work". We disagreed, and protested to Cox. Unfortunately we did not have the number of outlets in writing, so Cox worked with us and we spilt the cost. We finally occupied the pool in the middle of June. Despite the poor project management, and because our close oversight and our having to assume the role of project manager, the results are acceptable. In November 2009 we decided to install a propane pool heater. We signed a contract for Cox to do the work. They did not have one in stock so they had to order one. After it was installed we called a qualified technician from the local gas company to make the final connection. He looked at it and instantly told us that this heater was designed for "natural gas". Cox had ordered and installed the wrong heater type. It took about two weeks to get the heater replaced. Since then we have had to make several service calls. I have kept notes on all these calls, but can summarize and say that calls to the service department often went unanswered, and when we left messages often there are no call backs. Even with call backs, service is slow, sometimes WEEKS before a service tech shows up. Then they often show up at odd times without calling to make sure you are home. In summary, the 2009 experience was stressful because of poor management and oversight by the people in responsible charge at that time. Maybe things are better now. The last time we made a service call, the service director as up front with us, told us it would be 2 weeks before the tech could get there, but when the tech did arrive he was very knowledgeable and helpful. He told us that Cox no longer used Aquapure controls and gave us a replacement cover at no cost, but we did pay for the service call.

"We are truly sorry your experience with Cox Pools did not meet your expectations. On the several occasions you spoke with Paige in our Service Department, we thought we would be able to schedule a time that was best for both you and our service crew to arrive at your residence. Despite the miscommunication, we are glad we were able to provide service to install your pump. We strive to provide superior service for all customers and hope you will reconsider using Cox Pools in the future."

The pool was prepared for resurfacing by one crew and another came out and did he actual resurfacing.  Things went well and professionally until the time for painting the deck.  We were not home for this to watch and see what was done, but on our arrival back, we discovered the door to the pool screen room was left open and all manner of junk had blown into the pool.  Cox did come out after we called and cleaned it up, bu we had to keep after them.    The biggest problem was with the deck painting.  It looked fine, but didn't seem to dry properly.  It remained and remains sticky in many places and slippery when wet, not a good situation for the deck of a swimming pool.  We again had to call several times to get them to come out and essentially they had no idea what the problem was or how to fix it and passed the buck to the store which sold the paint, a color made specifically for Cox.  We remain unsatisfied with the paint and the paint job and it has not been fixed to our satisfaction.  Both Cox and Sherwin Williams suggested we scrub the deck with water and a cleaner which my wife did but it did not remedy the issue.
Overall the pool is much improved over what it was, the plastering was well done as were the tile repairs.  It was a good thing that we kept after them though, as they would haave left some repairs undone.

They built our pool and it was still under warranty and so the service didn?t cost us anything. They are great. Anytime we call him with questions and if they can?t tell us what to do over the phone, they just come out here. He never charges us anything for those visits. Our pool is great and we enjoy it. They came in with the lowest price as well when we had our pool built. They had a wonderful reputation.

When my husband and I were house hunting we saw a couple of homes where pools were being built. Cox Pool trucks were parked in front of the homes. We stopped and talked with the workers for a brief period and also spoke with the owners of the houses. When we got home from our house hunting trip, having found the house we wanted, we began calling pool companies. The people at Cox were friendly and most helpful. We asked if they would send someone out to look at our property to make sure we had plenty of room to do what we wanted. They had no problem doing that. By the time the house had closed and we moved in early September, we already had a good re pore with the people at Cox Pools. They also had the best price. Two weeks after we moved we were ready to start the pool. We called Cox and Todd came to the house right away. We drew up the paperwork and a couple of days later we had a huge hole in the back yard. It took a about seven weeks to have the pool swim ready. Todd was very helpful in helping us find an electrician, and the company, that we ended up using, to install the screen cage. Cox uses different crews for the different stages of pool building. Since each crew concentrates on just that part, they are all very good at what they do. Cox also makes its own concrete on the premises. There were no problems passing inspections. They cleaned up the yard when they were finished, so it is ready to have the grass put in. After the pool was finished Barry became our main contact at Cox Pools. He is the one that conducted the "Pool School". He explained everything about how to care for the pool how to run the sweeper and the heater and how to put everything on a timer. Barry is a very likable fellow and is knowledgeable in everything and anything to do with the running of the pool. I have had to call him a couple of times with questions and he has always been helpful. We have been swimming almost everyday since the pool was finished. We haven't had it long but we are very pleased with the work that was done and with the customer service.
