Below is the letter I've sent to the Argos Cement headquarters detailing my experience: To whom it may concern, My name is David Waite and I am a customer of Joe Colarusso construction (850-236-9248) in Panama City, Florida. Last week Joe contacted an employee named Alex at the Panama City, FL Argos office (850-235-9600) to arrange for cement to be delivered to our home for our driveway expansion. As it is a job of only 260SF we were searching for a company that would be willing to deliver this small amount. Alex agreed to sell us 3 yards for $80/yd and waive the delivery fee if we could have the truck unloaded within 30 minutes. Today our contractor, Joe, called to arrange for the cement to be delivered on Monday, April 22, 2013. Joe made sure he spoke to Alex again and reminded him of the agreement they had made the week prior. Alex informed Joe that the price has gone up in the last week to $93/yard with a delivery fee of $125 and a minimum order of 5 yards. I certainly understand that prices can vary some week to week but these kind of bait and switch practices that your company is employing are completely unethical. I am a disabled veteran living on a fixed income and cannot afford the shady tactics of Argos. When my wife called Alex to try and find out why he was doing this he actually hung up the phone. When she called back another employee named Ricky told her that Alex was outside working, not available and to feel free to contact the Better Business Bureau. It may not do any good but it will make me feel better to let the world know the way Argos tries to scam money out of American veterans. Sincerely, David M. Waite, SFC USA Ret.
Description of Work: Our contractor sub contracted out the cement delivery. The Argos cement office on Panama City Beach, FL agreed to one price and then ONE WEEK LATER drastically increased the price, minimum amount to buy and the delivery fee. We have our driveway all framed out and are being forced to find another cement company at the last minute rather than deal with these shady tactics. This company is a classic "bait and switch" operation that should be avoided.
