They said the unit needed to be replaced. I was dumb enough just to go along with the program. Finally it occurred to me to see when I bought this thing but they just hauled it off. It was still under warranty. I called them and told them I wanted them to give me a credit. They refused to do anything. Their pricing was pretty high. They came right out. I don't think it was very professional to do that.
After the installation I noticed that one of the refrigerant lines at the compressor was badly kinked. When I called them up they said I kinked the line. I sent them an email with a picture saying is this work acceptable. Then then sent a repair man and he said this was shoddy workmanship and blamed it on his partner. The coolant lines in the attic were all damaged with slices in the insulation exposing the copper liners also they left all the old copper lines in the attic. When I called and wanted to talk to the owner they said I could not talk to the owner he just took emails. So I sent him an email which he never answered or removed the piping or repaired the tubing insulation
My yearly service was fine but the serviceman tried to sell me a surge suppressor saying the incoming voltage was to high an could burn out my unit .I asked him if that is true why didn't they match the newly installed ac unit with the proper voltage. He did not have an answer. When I told him I am a former electrical contractor and engineer and the incoming voltage was quite normal which I made him prove my checking it with a voltmeter. He did not have an answer .
On the replacing all the ductwork, I paid extra to have R8 insulation, in lieu of, R6. While they were installing the new Junction Boxes I noticed that they were using R6 material. When I confronted the installer they said that they do not make Junction Box material in R8. I came back with my tablet and showed him that R8 is a common material. They immediately removed the old boxes and got R8 insulation
Recently I went into the attic and noticed some of the ductwork I told him to tie up better was not done .
You have to wonder what else was not done or done improperly.
I could not recommend Brown to my community.
"My name is Phil and I am the new Marketing Director for Brown Heating and Cooling. We have expanded our exposure on Angie's List and want to insure that our customers are always satisfied. Having reviewed this incident with our Service Manager, here is our side of the story. Travis went on Service Call 11/01/13 and repaired the unit for a total cost of $314. The unit was running and we don't have any record of a Service Call being ran on 11/15/13 and our Service Manager said he didn't try to sell [Member name removed] a new unit. If [Member name removed] has paperwork showing a quote on a new unit, or a copy of the invoice from Nov. 15th, I would love to take a look at them. We at Brown have a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and want to make things right. Thank you for your time and [Member name removed] can email me over any paperwork or questions he has at [email protected]"
