He told us there would be a months wait while the shelves were constructed off site. I had to call him twice to get him back out here. When he showed back up, he was supposed to have the shelves completely built but he only had raw lumber. He had to build them all on site. It took him 4 days, not the 1 day promised. He spray painted the shelves and we ended up with paint droplets on the door and hinges and all over. He didn't put a back on the shelves, he just used the wall as the backdrop. However, there were huge gaps between the shelves and the wall that needed filled in. I called him and explained that we paid in good faith and explained all the errors. He said he did a fine job for us and that was it. He wasn't willing to work with us. He also said when he came in that it would be a good experience for him because he had never done that before. We had to get someone else to come and finish the job and they did an excellent job.

Casey said his crew would have the job done in a couple of days. Turns out, there was no crew, just him. Ok, fine, we weren't in a huge rush. It did take longer than expected, but Casey seemed nice and dependable. He instructed us to purchase supplies and leave them out for him to use. We purchased plenty of primer, wall paint (going from a dark blue to white), and ceiling paint. After he painted the kitchen, he called me and rudely told me next time we decide to paint, we need to go darker not lighter than the existing color. When I got home and saw what he had done, I was mortified. Instead of taking the time to prime the walls, he only put on an extra coat of white paint. The blue was bleeding through all over the place. Additionally, he did not paint the ceiling and argued that he wasn't supposed to. We discussed, at length, him painting our ceiling- that was the whole reason we had him paint anything at all. Also, he didn't putty any nail holes or put the light fixtures back up. Very lazy job. We spent so much time fixing what he had done, we should've painted it all ourselves. The tile job is atrocious. He mixed the grout way too thin- it's disintegrating. The tiles are all moving around, some are already popping up! The center of the tiles had a pattern that are supposed to be facing one way. He didn't pay attention, and they're all going in different directions- it drives me crazy every time I step into our kitchen. Instead of taking the time to properly measure and cut tiles, he stopped when he got to the last row of full sized tiles. There was a 6 inch gap inbetween where he ended and the wall. Once again, more time and money for us to fix ourselves. We called Casey to address all of our concerns about his work. His reply? "You should've hired me for the entire job so that I could've done the finishing touches." I'm pretty sure skipping important steps and being lazy couldn't have been fixed with "finishing touches" if we hired him to install our cabinets, too. Also, I wish I would've done more research on Cane Construction before hiring them. They're not accredited by the BBB, and Casey Cane has a criminal history.
