"I could waste a lot of time disputing time frames and such, but the real problem I was confronted with was the weather. The first day, Monday, was spent prepping and applying two coats of laytex concrete sealer that the customer purchased. This was of a lesser quality than I would have purchased, so the two coats did not provide satisfactory coverage. I was going to apply a third coat and take a monitary loss for the additional time required. But because of the high chance of rain storms on day two, Tuesday, I felt that it was better doing the edging and detail painting instead. After an hour and a half, the sky began to darken and the sound of thunder slowly became louder and more frequent. At that point I thought it best to stop painting and wait it out for a while. I sat in my truck and listened to the local weather forcast which predicted heavy thunderstorms throughout the day. But Florida weather can be funny, so I gave it some time. There was some slight drizzle, but nothing devastating, so I figured the threat had passed. Just as I got out of my truck, the sky opened up to a torential downpour. Clearly, any chance of continuing the project that day was gone. If I hadn't stopped painting when I did, most of my worked would have simply washed away. On the next day that I was scheduled to return, Friday, the weather was bad right from the get go. The whole county was getting hammered with heavy rain and thunderstorms. Obviously no painting was getting done that day. The following day, Saturday, the skys had settled down, but I had to take care of a previously scheduled appointment first. Once that was completed, I called to say I was on my way. When I arrived, I was informed that my services were no longer needed. I offered to at least apply a third coat, but they wouldn't have it. What I just couldn't get them to understand was that you cannot paint when it rains or for the rest of the day for that matter. "But it only rained for twenty minutes." doesn't mean the surfaces are adequately dry. If I can't do the job properly, I won't do it at all. I'm sorry things turned out the way they did, but when you are dealing with Florida weather in the heart of the rainy season, you have to have some patience."
