A job contracted for 10 days took 2 months to complete. There were no extenuating circumstances or change orders that extended the work. I had a picture window changed to a french door (just one part of the work), and had concrete dust blown through my entire home, all over and into everything. A simple plastic sheet up over the openings into the rest of the house would have solved this. I did some of the painting myself to try to move things along. His drywall sub stated to me "We'll clean it all up real good when we're done". His idea of "real good" and mine are lightyears apart. There were large chunks (the size of a baseball) of drywall mud and dust all over the floor when he was done. They left the windows to the room open with the A/C on. They actually covered over 2 outlet holes that had to be cut out after the fact, but only because I said something. His painter came and left in 2 hours on the first day, putting the entire project back by at least one day. A paint job that should have taken 2 days took almost 4. I had to remind the contractor of the wall that was to be skinned multiple times during the job. Even then, he insisted on cutting holes in the existing wall to "see what's there", then gave me the option of tearing the old wall out and replacing or skinning it as we originally agreed on. The french doors took him 4 days to install correctly. And that was only because he called a "door and window" specialist to get it square. I had new crown molding put in. THAT took 2 days because the subs nail driver broke and he didn't want to get a new one the first day (it was 2 in the afternoon). So he came back the next day and finished the job. There was spots of caulk left on my new carpet that I had to remove. An antique table I use by my back entry was used as a holding spot for anything and everything, and all but ruined the finish on it. I realize some of these things are the subs, but the contractor is represented by them on the job. Their quality of work reflects on him just as his work does. The contractor demanded full payment for the job (with deduction of the house cleaning), even after I discussed the missed deadline with him. I would NEVER recommend this company to even my worst enemy.
