Founded in 1997 by Wesley Scott with over 30 years in the interior plantation shutter business, Indian River Shutter Company has shuttered homes and business through out Florida and the Caribbean, and shipped shutters across the United States and Europe. Our goal was to build a product line that would surpass that of our competition, and create a service like no other business in Florida. After 16 years of manufacturing plantation shutters and over 40 years in the window covering business Wes is confident the goal has been met. The estimator and representative, Linda, set up an appointment, called again to reconfirm, and showed up on time. She knew her stuff, showed me the choices and prices, and made a recommendation on what, in her experience, would look best in each of the three locations. Linda returned once again to show my wife the whole gamut and get her approval. No rush, no push.
My wife and i had driven over to their manufacturing plant in Palm City unannounced and found the place to be spick n span with a very friendly and helpful staff, so we placed our order with Linda, with a 50% down payment.
On the agreed to date and time, Brian, the company installer, called to confirm and showed up with our custom shutters and a set of tools and screws and gadgets to rival a Sears store. I watched him make sure each shutter fit PERFECTLY and was properly balanced and mitered into the window frame. He asked us to check each one to make sure we were satisfied, and told us to call the office if anything needed adjustment.
Oh yeah...got 10% discount for using the AngiesList coupon. Don't waste time shopping around, can't beat these guys for price, quality, and service.
Oh, did I mention that Linda was a gymnast? On the balance beam ! She had no trouble measuring the windows with her $450 digital gizmo and climbing over any and all obstacles. :-)

The estimator, Linda, was on-time and helpful. She suggested several possibilities at each price point, never exerting any pressure whatsoever. She had samples for all possible shutters and treatments. She measured all doors, windows and sliders twice to ensure accuracy and gave us an installation date at the time we placed our order.
The installers arrived on time, were professional and had all shutters installed within an hour and one-half . . . with one exception, the slider shutters. Due to a computer input error, the shutters were manufactured one inch too short in height and width. To their credit, instead of engineering a fix (for example, a 1/2" border to fill the gaps), they made a new set. This was by far the most expensive shutter, so their commitment to quality should be noted.
The new shutters were installed on time ten days later, as promised. The shutters have completely updated our home, are both attractive and functional. We have an east-west exposure and the shutters can be partially closed to keep the direct sun out, without diminishing the light.
Indian River Shutter Company is a local, family-owned business that upholds the old values of quality and service. I would, and do, recommend it to anyone and all.
Estimator arrived promptly and carefully measured twice for each opening. Was courteous and efficient. Company worked with me for payment electronically, contacted me when the products were ready for install, set up an appointment and the installer arrived on time and was finished within the two hour window.
