Probably saved kittie's life

Staff were extremely friendly. My waiting time was less than 5 minutes. They listened and cared about what concerns I had and discussed ways to alleviate them. Very happy with my experience with them and plan on staying with them for my puppy's care as well as my other dog's care.

They were very helpful, friendly, and seemed to know what they were talking about. On previous visits they had also been very cost-aware when making recommendations. We loved taking our dog to them.

Everything was fine. They are wonderful there. The staff takes a real interest in the whole family, not just the pet. They treat the pet as part of their own family. They tell me everything they're going to do before they do it. They give an estimate of care before they give care. They don't try to take me for a bunch of money. They'll sit down and explain what they think it is and how they can figure out what the problem is. We cut the costs by a third or half. Even though we were prepared to pay for the services up front, they right away offered us a payment plan. They said they understood that it was Christmas and it was last minute and the dog had to have surgery. They were very understanding. They understand the economy and that people have it rough right now. It's clean and quiet and a nice comforting atmosphere.

Given the situation, it was a terrible experience, but I will never go to another Veterinary Facility.

I believe we got the best care available and not only was the care outstanding, but they were very
sensitive to my feelings and financial situation.

I have been to many vets, as we bred St. Bernard's and Bassett Hounds during my childhood and early
adulthood.  We showed dogs for many years as my mother was a dog show judge and wrote an animal column for the Philadelphia Inquirer.  My brother in law was a dog handler and later a dog show judge so I have been around dogs all my life.  

If you are looking for a great vet and are in the area, I would try this place out.  I live over 20 miles from VCA but choose to go there because I believe they know what they are doing.  The prices are not cheap but then
I don't think any Vet these days is.  I do believe you will get the best care around Central Florida.

Dr. Bauman was very patient with the dog, who does not like strangers, but his staff was fearful and she sensed it. I am satisfied with the service he provided, giving us lots of time (an indication that he doesn't have a large number of clients). His approach is non-aggressive, taking a "wait and see" attitude before stepping into procedures that can be very expensive.

However, his office staff leaves much to be desired. In spite of the fact that our previous vet faxed over all the dog's records, which indicated she was up-to-date on all her shots, the records from VCA show that she is "overdue" for a variety of shots, some of which were indicated as having been given to her by her previous vet within six months. Postcards keep arriving telling us that she is "overdue" for shots I know she's had. That's annoying and could present problems if we need to board her.

Flea and heartworm medications were bought, but we paid way too much for them! Dr. Bauman does not like "all-in-one" medications, so we had to buy these in separate amounts. I found them much, much cheaper in both pet stores and online.
We also purchased Glycoflex and Deramaxx for treatment of osteoarthritis (diagnosed by our previous vet) and found that we also paid way too much for those!

Seems as if this office makes its money off medications and supplements more than its actual DVM services.

Surgery went very well. Dr. Cole needed to reschedule due to personal issues and called personally and rescheduled the surgery to fit my schedule. Outstanding follow-up by the staff and Dr. Bauman. Recovery ongoing, bandage changes done first thing in the morning promptly and efficiently.

We need a full service animal clinic for our dog and cat due to our original vet retiring. Our dog has had extensive knee surgery in the past. Dr. Sherwood was great with both of them in the same visit. The cost of the service is in my opinion a little high, however, I was pleased to see the time and care that was taken with both of my animals. The visit for the initial examination and their yearly shots took about three hours. Dr. Sherwood was with them almost the entire time. Very thorough professional care.You are provided with an estimate of cost of blood work, shots, etc before any thing is done to your pets, so you do have a choice in the amount that you spend.
