About Me: The world needs better design. I am trying to make the world a more beautiful place by creating one-of-a-kind pieces for your business that can help your business grow, pixel by pixel and pica by pica (If you don't know what that means, you could probably use my services). I got my start as a kid drawing doodles and telling my mom, "I want to draw cartoons like Mickey!" That goal eventually morphed into hundreds of different goals throughout my childhood, such as becoming a lawyer, a cosmetologist, or a paleontologist. By the time I started college, I was an astrophysics major hoping to become the first human to set boot upon Mars. A year later I was filling out a change of major form to persue my first love, art, in the form of a communication degree. A few layout and design classes later, I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer. Since then I've been helping businesses make their print and electronic pieces better with strong design and a contemporary but professional look. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you? A. Find someone you can connect with and communicate well with. This will facilitate a stronger design process, wherein both parties are more satisfied with the process and end result. Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do? A. Having a scientific background, I am more than your average right-brained creative-type. I understand how to take complex concepts and illustrate them graphically. I think many times there is a disconnect between the creatives and the "left-brained," technical folks in a business, and this creates miscommunication and difficulties. With my background I am able to bridge that gap perhaps better than most, resulting in effective communication throughout the design process, and thus better design itself. Q. What do you like most about your job? A. Being a freelancer enables me to work from home with my beautiful daughter, and to work on different projects every day. It keeps things from getting too monotonous and helps me keep my creative edge. I love graphic design because it helps make the world a more beautiful place, pixel by pixel and pica by pica. Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer? A. I am often told, "I just need something real quick," or, "I'm not sure what I am looking for." Having a well thought-out, strategic plan for your overall business objective is a must, and the pieces I create are tactics within that strategy that will help you achieve that objective. I can help you along, but clients should remember how important it is to get there. Q. What are your most common types of jobs? A. I am very often asked to create business cards, sale flyers, and trade show banners. For a small company just starting out, I do entire business identity packages. This helps forge a strong visual identity for the company, thus helping with marketing, brand recognition, and customer loyalty. Prices: I charge by the project, not by time.
