It took about three times to fix it. Although, the last time he didn't charge me. Hopefully it's fixed.

Response from Platts Air Conditioning and Heating
"Our records indicate that our service technician found no obvious problems with system, other than pencil dryer/muffler very noisy on shutdown. Checked amp draws and freon pressures everything was good. There is no recommendation for a new unit. The system is 10 years old."

Sunday morning my said "It's hot in here." Not what you want to hear in June in Florida.
My AC system had frozen over and was not working. I utilized my Google doctorate and saw that the problem is usually one of two things. Either it was low in refrigerant, or the filters were clogged up. I changed my filter (which *was* overdue) and let the system sit for about six hours to thaw out. Turned it back on that evening and it still wasn't cooling, so I turned it off for the night.
I called Platt's first thing Monday morning and they were at my house by 11:30 that morning. The technician verified that my refrigerant levels were okay and that the system was working properly. Evidently thawing for six hours on Sunday was not enough, but it had cleared out after staying off all night.
It was an $80 charge for a service call and an expensive lesson to keep those filters changed.
Even though the technician didn't have to fix anything, he was on-time, polite and knowledgeable. He is the same guy that came out the last time my starter cap had blown (did a good job then as well).
I'm planning on replacing my AC unit since it's 17 years old - Platt's is on my short list of contractors for the job.

Called Platt's AC and answered, no machines answering!!! They responded immediately to our Issues. Showed up on time, and accessed the situation. I was given options to resolve the issue. They did a wonderful job, went well above and beyond to resolve the issue. Technicians were professional and cleaned up after their work.

Shawn Platt's team (Jim, Brian and Jake) installed a new inside and outside 4 ton unit to our Oceanfront home 3 years ago. It came with a warranty that is still good. The original installation cost $8274, including ductwork. On Nov 16th, our a/c broke (Saturday morning). We had out of town guests who had just flown in. It was hot. I called and spoke with Brian, who said turn the whole thing off, turn it back on in 2 hours, and if it wasn't fixed, he'd come right out. I guess that gave him enough time to plan his escape. In 2 hours, when the system still wasn't working, and I called back through the answering service, he never responded. After the 3rd desperate call, even the answering service people were getting upset with Platt's for not responding. When I asked them for the owner's number, they refused to give it to me, but claimed that Platt's worked until 8 pm on Saturday night. No one ever called or came by. They didn't call back until Monday morning to ask if I still needed service! By then, I had called another company to come fix the unit, but I couldn't get them to come out until Monday afternoon. Needless to say, my guests (and I) had a terrible, hot, miserable weekend. I had to apologize repeatedly to my guests and tell them that normally people in Brevard County are nicer than this. Don't use Platt's.
