He came over and did the demolition and stacked up the pieces in the backyard. He also changed out three water lines. This was all done in about four hours. After that day, I didn't see him again until this morning. I tried to call him a number of times and he wouldn't speak with me. He sent me text messages with excuses as to why he couldn't come out. For about 5 or 6 days in a row he would promise to come out or call me after seeing the doctor which never actually happened. Eventually, even the text messages stopped and as noted above I hadn't heard from him until this morning. He called me this morning to say that he wanted to collect his tools and I advised him that would be ok as long as he was able to refund the money I had paid him. When he arrived he didn't have any money and still demanded his tools back. I refused, stating that if I gave him the tools I wouldn't ever get my money back. He replied saying that if I didn't give him the tools he would call the police and I advised him to go ahead and do so and he did. When the police arrived at my home they questioned the both of us. After the questioning, they sided with me and told the provider to go get the money that I was owed and then he could return and retrieve his tools. Before the officer left the provider and I haggled a bit over what was done. The provider claimed that he had done $1100 worth of work so I showed the officer what was done and he agreed that it was not $1100 worth. I told the provider I would accept $1000 back from him and he countered with $800 to which I agreed. As of this time, he has yet to return with the money that I am owed.
