They came in and they did some super duper work on the roof. We had dorm earth and they resealed the dormers. That is where they think possibly a lot of the leak was coming in through. They resealed it and replaced the roofing tiles and redid everything. Two or three months after they had finished the job, we went through that dry spell where we did not have any rain at all. That was great but we never got to test the roof. Then we started to have some really heavy rain. We called them and they came out and reassured me that it was all fixed. A month or two goes by and we get another really bad rain. It starts leaking again. I called them. They arranged to come out. Of course, they can't come when it is raining. They did the work. Then we waited for the rain again. Then they came out and did the work. It was a total of 4 times that they had to come out and do the roof. Eric Johnson who works for Tartan construction is a sheet rock and painter is a sheetrock extraordinaire. i would recommend him in a heartbeat. It has been a year since and we have had a couple good rains and no leaks. It looks like it is all fixed but it did take about a year. When David Murphy came out, he said the flashing was all done wrong since the house was built and that was why we was having problems. He replaced all of that.

We are still in process of working but David Murphy is very awesome. He listens to you and does what you ask. They are a certified VA approved contractor. I went and asked for 3 bids from 3 different companies and he was the only one that came out numerous times to make sure I was happy with how the contract was going to work. That showed me he cares for his costumers and that he really loves his job. We are still waiting for the VA to make the final approvals on the contract before he can get started but if this is how he works I will use him for more of the work I will need done in the home in the future. I will tell you that if no one knows it but he is VA Certified to do construction on homes. He has been through the approval process of the VA so all he has to do is put a bid in when the VA ask for 3 bids. So Veterans he cares about us and how we live and wants to make our lives easy as possible. And make the house look amazing. So Call Tartan and have them come out and do what you need done. David Murphy reminds me of Mike Holmes from the DiY network about making sure everything is to code and he knows what to do.

After some initial miscommunication the construct went very well.  The crew and Mr. Murphy were very responsive to any changes that were suggested to help improve overall construction or looks of the deck.  Because of some ground issues the deck was built on piers and concrete footer.  The crew were punctual and worked hard the entire time they were on site.  As this was the first  curved deck any of them had built the job went very good.  Mr. Murphy and the crew were very pleased, as was my wife and I, with how the deck turned out.  The deck is about 18 inches above the ground at one point and raises to a height of 42 inches at the top which makes for easy entry and exit down the wedding cake stairs in to the pool.  I would definitely use Tartan Construction again.

Personable individual who was very responsive to our needs.  He was able to fit our small job in between his other larger jobs.  Essentially as soon as he received our check and signed contract for the labor, he moved forward, knocking it out in only two days.  Had there not been a week of rain, it may have gone down even quicker.  He communicated via text messages and voice calls.  We are very satisfied.

Mr. Benkis came to our home three times prior to signing the contract. He is high energy and very personable. He listened to all of our needs, wants, and complaints regarding our two 50 year old bathrooms. He was very receptive to all of our ideas. I initially wanted to move the bathtub 90 degrees, which would require moving some plumbing and dealing with a window. My dislike of glass block and a lack of any other feasible solution required the tub stay where it was. Mr. Benkis was the first contractor to tell me that there may be an issue with moving the tub and accommodating the window, which was a good thing to me because I would not want to be in the middle of the process and have to deal with that stumbling block. Written into our contract, we were responsible for purchasing faucets for the vanity and tub/showers, as well as counter tops and light fixtures. While we searched for these things, Mr. Benkis would answer his phone every time that we called with a random question, or he would call us back immediately. Once work got under way on our project, Mr. Benkis was on our property almost every day. We did begin a little late due to the ice situation that occurred in February delaying the end of the previous job. Our work began on February 21st and was complete on March 20th, with Mr. Benkis returning to fix a wobbly shower arm a few days after. We did run over the expected time frame, primarily due to our sub-floor issue. The weak floors were initially suspected to be because of support issues under the house, but turned out to be the result of the joists needing to be closer. During our project I did return home at 6:30ish one night to find no water on in our home. After calling Mr. Benkis, he made the 45 minute drive to our house, make a repair, and get the water on before 8:00 p.m. There was some confusion regarding finished paint colors and mirror styles, however, both situations were remedied by the next day. Mr. Benkis was also kind enough to purchase faucets to replace the ones we ordered when they turned out to be the wrong size for our sinks and not available in the correct size, also by the next day. Mr. Benkis did keep us informed whenever he ran into those strange things that come from having a 50 year old house and he did the best he could to accommodate all of our requests. There are a couple of things that have left a little to be desired. The paint job is not the best quality. There are a couple of screws that are visible in the drywall, slightly protruding. The electrical outlet in one of the bathrooms was not secured. We had our electric upgraded throughout the house immediately after, using the same guy Mr. Benkis used, and he tightened the cover for us, but now the wainscoting is roughed up and needs some sanding and paint. Overall, the bathrooms are beautiful and we will not fall through the floor. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Benkis!

IT WENT EXACTLY AS JAMES SAID IT WOULD. TOOK 1 WEEK TO COMPLETE. DID A FABULOUS JOB, FROM BEGINNING TO END. TOOK TIME TO EXPLAIN WHY AND WHAT HE WOULD BE DOING AS JOB PROGRESSED. I NOW HAVE A BEAUTIFUL FLORIDA ROOM WITH 2 WINDOWS ON EACH SIDE, 2 WINDOWS IN BACK WITH A GLASS STORM DOOR IN THE MIDDLE WITH A DOGGIE DOOR AT THE BOTTOM. WHICH HE SAID HE WOULD DO EVEN AFTER QUOTING THE PRICE FOR THE JOB. IN ADDITION HE INSTALLED A NEW A/C INTO A WINDOW OF OUR HOUSE AT NO EXTRA COST. THIS IS THE TYPE OF CONTRACTOR YOU HOPE TO FIND. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND  ANYBODY TO HIRE JAMKIE ENTERPRISES, LLC FOR THIS TYPE OF JOB.

The whole process was organized well, he was thorough and detailed. His wife came and measured, took photos and discussed the project with me. She sent an estimate on the day we agreed on. He came over and looked at the site a few days before work was to begin. He started on time and finished on time.  Very pleasant people to work with. I would absolutely use this company again.

We contacted 3 different companies to give estimates on repair of white, wooden porch railings, steps and roof flashing.   James (owner) promptly responded.   He was always punctual.  Estimate arrived as he stated.   His wife is also a delight and assists with his business.   Of the 3 estimates, his was equal to another and less than the last one.  There were no surprises or extra costs for project. James set up a time for project to begin.   As the time was getting closer, we received a call confirming date and time of work.   We always felt up to date on the project.  The work was beyond our expectations!  The porch is beautiful!    When they left, you could not even tell they had been working except we now have a beautiful back porch!

They did an excellent job. I would highly, highly, highly recommend them. The quality of his work was very good. He had lots of suggestions to get the job done that we never thought of. We had water intrusion  and he even put up gutters for us because the ones that he noticed were too small on our house. So besides that he was here everyday, very pleasant and knowledgeable about what he was doing. The prices were very good.

The entire process went very well.  I called the builder on a Sunday afternoon? They responded with an estimate within 2 hours.  By Monday we had a contract signed and ready to begin the construction?  The contract stated our expectations/specifications and payment arrangements.  We requested a start date which they stated would be October 28, 2013.  Construction began 4 days prior to the estimated start date with our permission (October 24, 2013).  It took the builder approximately 5 days total to finish the project on October 30, 2013 (There was no rain during this time)  It was obvious that once the builder began he would finish what he started which was extremely important to us. The builder kept us in the loop on every aspect and detail of the project.

As a consumer we believe in a few sayings, ? You get what you pay for and hind sight is 20/20??.In the past when we have said this to ourselves it was because we attempted to save money and gone the less expensive route, or we wished we had done it differently. I have had experiences with contractors who would start a job and not finish until months later, or request small payments of money intermittently and inevitably somehow end up costing more then expected? While this deck was a little above our budget , we got a well constructed deck built within code, built within a very short time?that we didn't have to do ourselves (huge bonus). We are very happy with the end result and the overall workmanship of the builder and his workers.J&J

The job went very well.  The contractor showed up on time and as promised, and was a pleasure to work with.  He always had a great, positive attitude and gave great suggestions on how to accomplish what I needed to have done.  The work was done quickly and professionally with minimal disruption to the household.  The wheelchair ramp is well built and sturdy and the correct size for wheelchair access. The wall, even though it's built to be temporary, is sturdy and well finished.  The price was very reasonable and the work was very high quality.  I would definitely call them for all my home construction needs in the future.

What a terrible experience with buyers remorse every time I look at my kitchen. Let me start by saying... The cabinets look nice. That is all. The experience leading up to the final product is one I relive in my nightmares. David bragged about how other companies just restore and that Tartan would replace.... Only PARTIALLY true after a stern discussion but not what they were trying to do at all. Day 1 a broken promise to transport all my cabinets to their shop. Filled my garage with the cabinets. When I returned home, the guys at the site said they were just about done... Seriously. ZERO replacement of my cabinetry, simply wiped down with an anti-microbial solution (which he admitted anyone could get online) Day 2 is where things got interesting. Cabinets still in my garage. 1145 My wife called and said they were leaving for lunch and I talked to the worker Nate about replacing the toe-kick which he said "didn't need replacing" I told him I wanted that done, he said he would see what he could do. 3:00 pm rolls around and I have to go back to work... Contractor is not back. I called him and told him he was done for the day. His response was the most unprofessional remark I'd heard in years. How dare I leave, because now I was putting him behind on the job. His reason was "I'm going out of my way to get you this toe-kick". Seriously? I thought you were working for me? How does material acquisition take three hours with two people, two vehicles and this mystery guy "mike" showing up every so often at the site? You should have been prepared. Day 3. After a morning conversation with David about his workers cutting corners on what was promised, he said everything would be taken care of. My wife reported them leaving the house at noon. I returned home at 4:00. They left my law mower outside... In the rain. They left my hose running for god only knows how long. Regular bill is $12, June's bill $26. Day 4. By the way, I was promised completion in 3. Delivery was promised by noon. My wife called at 2:30pm and told me they hadn't arrived. I called, no answer. He called back and said they decided to replace the base of the cabinet... On day 4!! When they finally arrived at my house, they tried to leave however, my wife told them they will complete the work THAT day. The job was rushed. Paint job was horrible. After a promise that it would look like nothing ever happened, I have glaring line above my countertops and the baseboards along with spots where the RED paint ran over WHITE baseboards. No tape was used in the process it was rushed and it shows. Tartan was paid (as per the contract) for trash removal, however i found all the trash for day 4 in MY trashcan. Additionally, when they primed the baseboards, they got primer on my driveway AND on my lawn mower. Tartan construction received $5000 for the terrible job they did. I should have a kitchen that looks and feels brand new. I felt robbed and am certain I could have done a higher caliber job myself. Empty promises, overpriced, shoddy workmanship. I am already spreading the word through my military connections, I suggest you do the same. Terrible experience. If you have any questions or would like proof, I have pictures and would be more than happy to help you avoid this mistake.

James came with his helper, Brandon.  Both were very polite, personable and professional.  James took measurements and provided me with an estimate along with his business and insurance information.  His bid was one of three that I got and was the most competitive and he stayed with the amount, no errors or add-ons.  I felt comfortable to leave him to do the job while I went to work.  He even let the dogs when needed.  At the end of every work day he cleaned everything up, and left nothing behind.  He showed up promptly everyday and got the job done on time. I originally had him do the living room but when I saw how beautiful it came out,  I asked him to do the other rooms. I get a lot of complements from friends and family. James did a wonderful job and I would recommend him without hesitation.
