We ordered the stone, and were told that they would call when it was in. It took approximately three weeks to get the stone in. We mentioned during our initial visit we wanted a square tile to install at a diagonal. When installation came around no one discussed a template or grout lines or anything specific- they were just installed in a stacked pattern with little/no grout line (1st time taking work off). The edges (specifically top and sides) were completed uneven. They were seven pieces short of stone so they had to order it. The installer was several hours late on the day they were scheduled so he had to come back the next day (2nd time taking off). They ordered the tile and gave us a one and half hour time frame for installation- again, late. This time we were not able to wait longer so had to reschedule for the following week (and 3rd time taking time off). All around disappointed with the lack of communication. The backsplash came out ok- I would have done it on a diagonal as originally planned, but with the length of time it took to get and the issues we were having we just wanted it done. Very nice people, just very poor communication.
Looked Tony up on Angie's list. Planned out the job carefully, both at my home and at his office. We worked samples & plans against price points to make the best economic selections. Tony helped me find some credit to pay for some of the job. There was an up-front deposit, but materials were then delivered promptly, and his staff was there to work. They were friendly and professional, as well as specialized; tile guys, wood floor guys, laborers removing my old carpet, etc. Finished on time and I will use him again.
Their crews worked very hard, were extremely polite and competent at their job. Afterwards, the good people at Metro Flooring, bent over backwards to make sure we were completely satisfied. As with any construction job, we had some issues to work out in the end. Metro handled everything beyond our expectations. We will definitely use them again when it's time to redo the bathroom.
"We genuinely enjoyed every moment getting to know you guys. You're an awesome family. Thank you for trusting us with your project and for taking the time to write this wonderful review."
"We are so thankful for your business, Ms. top producing Realtor! Thank you for taking your VALUABLE TIME to write such a kind review."

"Our customer, the previous homeowner left a wonderful straight A review. It is true that our warranties do not transfer to the new homeowner. We let our customer, the previous homeowner know that there were a number of unassociated contractors actively working in the home after our portion was signed off on and we cannot be responsible for any damage going forward."
After providing the initial estimate, Tony worked with us on the price and was involved through the entire project. Dianne was very helpful when it came to matching and finalizing tile selections. The install was promptly scheduled once the tile selection was finalized. Everyone at Metro was always available to answer any questions we had before, during, and after the install.
Tony and Michael kept to the established timeline with the job ending when they said it would. We were kept informed all along the way, and consulted throughout the process to make sure we were pleased with the results. The installation crew was friendly and informative and always called if there were any questions or uncertainty. We moved out of our home completely to allow the job to be done, and the installers always made sure it was securely closed up at the end of each day.
They left the home clean and orderly when the job was complete.
We are very satisfied with the customer service, quality of the product, and the attention to detail with the work that was done.
We will definitely hire Metro Flooring in the future for other projects!
"YOU ARE AWESOME!!! It was a pleasure working with you! We wish you MANY years of happiness in there."
"Thank you for your review! We provided 7 different estimates. Five months passed before we had the pleasure of completing this project. We felt it was crucial to get final confirmation on area and material. We apologize for the inconvenience."
"We SINCERELY appreciate your business and the time you took to write a review."
"I am sorry you feel that 4 days was inadequate timing. We came out to measure on Monday 3/3/14 at 10:30 am. We emailed your estimate on Friday 3/7/14 at 1:21pm but it was bounced back. I tried calling, but I was unable to reach you or leave a message to verify your email address. Here is my email confirmation: Mail Delivery Subsystem [email protected], 1:21 PM (21 hours ago) to me, Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: [email protected]"
We searched and interviewed companies and finally decided that Metro Flooring was the right choice. Their owner came to the house, listened to our needs, measured and prepared a quote to demo the faulty BA Wagner work and then re-install the tile according to the manufacturer's suggested guidelines. The work was then scheduled and the crew leader showed up on time to demo the faulty floor.
They did an excellent job removing the old tile and cleaning up after themselves. Again, the owner came back to review the work of the crew. Then once the floor had been prepped, the crew leader laid out the tile and grout pattern for my wife and I to review. Once approved, the crew immediately began to lay the tile and periodically asked us if we liked the results. Also, the company owner made it a point to call and come by the project to verify his crew was living up to our expectations.
***Special note to homeowners regarding 6" x 24" simulated wood tile - do not allow the flooring company to install this tile unless they first confirm the floor is level or they plan to level it before laying the tile. If not, you will end up with sharp edges and lips that will make your floor dysfunctional***
In the end, Metro Flooring finished on-time and within budget and most of all, they did the job right!
I am very pleased with the tile floor. It looks amazing. I've not found a hollow tile or a miss aligned grout line. If I had another tile floor I'd not hesitate to call Tony and Diane and ask for David again. I am providing recommendation on tile floor and carpet work as this appears to be a specialty and they subcontracted an excellent installers for the floor.
There is only one thing I can object to about with the floors. The final clean up work. Nobody ever never told me it was my responsibility to clean the floors when the job was completed. Metro expected me to clean the floors of all the excess grout left behind on the floor and in the door jams. This is finish work I assumed I contracted to be done. I ended up having to pay Sahara Carpet $450 to come scrub the floors with a machine to get them clean. We just couldn't get them clean after mopping with both a sponge and rag mop. We even tried getting on hands and knees with buckets, scrub brushes, and towels. The only thing that got them clean was a scrub brush and I wasn't going to do that by hand. I've also had to purchase a special $100 saw to remove the grout from under the door jams and is my next weekend project. Blobs of grout in all the doorways is unacceptable as a way to finish such an amazing floor. They should be caulked and painted like the baseboards.
The bathrooms came out gorgeous. We love them and matched our vision completely. Tony worked with us to get the glass block just right. The material is amazing quality and they just are so elegant. Tony was extremely responsive when I objected to one of the materials his contractor was starting to install. They took it out and started over. While the backing material is a modern product I'm a little old fashion and wanted cement board. Tony took care of the objection immediately and the bathroom work continued.
Again the final finish work was given to me as my responsibility. There were several issues, some of which was missing grout. While Metro Flooring took care of what I pointed out, I expected Metro Flooring to inspect and have the contractor finish the work before asking to be paid. I've paid Metro Flooring and they have moved on. The travertine soap dishes and shelves in the showers still lack the grout. Again my only complaint is the final finish work is something they expect me to manage.
Be aware Metro Flooring wants you to be the quality assurance person. They do not supervise and inspect the work. Only provide the materials and handle paying the contractor. If you are looking for a proactive merchant that does the final inspection themselves and has the knowledge to see the obvious, this is not Metro Flooring. But if you want a good price, great materials, awesome advise, have your vision transformed to reality, Tony and Diane are you people. Realize my complaints are small and picky, but I really thought turnkey was a theme at Metro and finish is the final touches that screams quality.
Use Metro Flooring for floors. They don't know showers and tubs. Be aware they want you proactive in managing the work so make written lists and have them knock them off as they go. This is a good business but I'd not use them again. I want the person I contract to do the job, including the supervision of the subs and to handle quality assurance to their satisfaction before asking me to do a final walk through and pay the final payment. These are major flaws in final workmanship, not just a few picky things, that I've been paying others to correct.
