Provider arrived at date and timed scheduled. Valve was replaced satisfactorily, however, the amount I was billed was twice what I have paid in the past by another company to have the identical work performed on a different zone's valve.
Update response: The person/company who had done the previous valve replacement work was out of town indefinitely due to an illness in the family and I did not want my system to continue to leak and waste water. Yes, he did also have to use a locator to find the valve to repair it and did charge me half the amount that this provider did. I have the bill to prove it.
"I charge a $60 locating fee to find all valves and is standard in the irrigation industry. I think for the services that were provided. (system check and adjust, locating valves & replacing valve) $177 is a fair price. I was there for 1 1/2 hrs. and gave her 1/2 hr. labor off the bill & warranty my work for 1 year. The customer states that my bill was double for the same work done earlier by another company, that company may not have needed to locate valves and I don't know how a business could survive billing $88.50. I am curious why the customer declined to have the original company come back out. I value each customer and get many jobs from word of mouth and have developed a good solid reputation in the Central Florida area since 1980"
