He was friendly and very knowledgeable. Took 2-3 hours to complete. He fixed our sliding door which was very difficult to open/close. He told several tips of what not to do.

$480
Kemp Montague (owner) came out to inspect sliding doors. He was very friendly and professional. He then provided a written estimate to repair badly worn rollers and track. The price was higher than I expected ($480), but the alternative to replace the entire doors was extremely high ($8000-$10000). He invited me to watch and understand what he would be doing. He explained every step of the process and he performed an outstanding job literally rebuilding the track with high quality stainless steel material and replacing identical manufacturer rollers. He offers a full warranty and assured me he would "return with a smile", if needed. I am quite confident the job he did will last a long time (hopefully never need attention again). We just had him repair the main door we used. But if the other sliding door fails, we would not hesitate to contact him again. Also, he was from South Africa and was very interesting hearing about his life experiences while he worked!

$375
They were very knowledgeable and had all the parts for the typical repairs needed. Replaced door rollers on one door only since other door is never used. The aluminum door track was worn so they crimped on a stainless steel cap that should never wear. Agreed cost for The repair was about $375 which I thought was a little high but then the wanted an additional $375 to complete the same repair on the rarely used other door panel when they were already there. I felt that was overpriced since the first repair was completed in 90 minutes. I was happy with their work and would use them again.

Showed up 20 minutes early. Was very good, took his time and takes a lot of pride in his work. I would recommend his work to anybody. Explained everything as he went along. Told me it would take 2 hours (Took 3, however ran in to a couple of unexpected problems). Cleaned up everything. Was very happy with results.

When Mr. Montague arrived on Feb 1, 2008, I had spread sheets over my carpet to protect it and he became angry and screaming at me that if I was worried about my carpet he would charge me more and have it cleaned. VERY puzzling since I had made no comment, I just covered the carpet as I would with any workman. About an hour into the job he told me that this door wasn't as bad as the one he repaired on Dec 17, 2007 and it would not be as much. The job on Dec 17 required 8 hours of labor and this one was 4 hours of labor. When he presented the bill it was for $90 more than the Dec 17 invoice and there were fewer parts on it as well as fewer hours. When I said there must be some mistake, he became vehemently angry and started yelling at me because apparently in the morning he had gone to the wrong house by mistake (not sure what that had to do with me). His anger was so great that I was afraid and I paid the amount to get him out of my house. I called later to try to discuss the issue, talked to his wife and she was most unpleasant. I would be afraid to have him in my house. Clearly there is some problem with him and as my detailed bills clearly show, he is not honest in his billing practices. My two invoices show 12 parts on Dec 17 and 8 hours, my bill on Feb 1 shows 9 parts and 4 hours. Many of the parts are the same, although he does not price parts out separately and the Feb 1 bill is $90 higher.
Response from Sliders Touch Inc
"Sliders Touch Inc. refurbished one sliding glass door in the Member's condominium on 17 December 2007. The Member was happy with the work and the price. The majority of the work that was completed that day was of a complex nature and was being conducted by an employee who was currently in training. At the Member's request, on 10 January 2008, Kemp Montague arrived at her condominium to refurbish her second door. This time Kemp conducted the work personally. As both, the owner of the company and developer of the specific work in question, he was able to finish the work in a more timely manner. The Member complains that we are not honest in our pricing. This is unfair. She was given an estimate for both doors. The work was completed and she was satisfied. The only difference between the two jobs were the two individual technicians that performed the restorations. On the second door, the technician who was the owner, was much quicker than the trainee. Supervision and possible rework of a trainee, in any industry, is to be expected which accounts for the longer work time of the first door. All prices given by Sliders Touch Inc. are estimates and we inform the customer up front. While the majority of our invoices come in "at estimate" there are occasions where the invoice will be either more or less than the estimate given depending upon the actual work that is completed. While the invoice did come to more than Kemp had originally thought, it was for an additional $90.00. Total invoice for the second door was $1,025.00. In no way can this be described as "bill dishonesty". Sliders Touch Inc. does not charge by the hour. Each door restoration will be different depending on location (exposure to ocean and salt corrosion versus mainland side), whether or not the doors are on an annual maintenance program or the physical abuse of a door. If the doors are so old that rollers are obsolete, we must conduct modifications on site. This is why we give free estimates. Regarding the "screaming". This is an exaggerated claim. Please recall that this was the second time Kemp was in her home. Her claims of "fear" are not consistent with a customer who would voluntarily invite Kemp and Sliders Touch back into her home a second time. It is unfair for the Member to claim that we are dishonest. Many well satisfied customers, that we have served, would disagree with her. While this incident is unfortunate, I feel that the complaint was fueled by an emotionally charged customer, who, while very satisfied with the work and end result, was confused and unreasonable."
