The first service tech that came to my house talked nonstop about fellow employees personal lives.  Very unprofessional.  Told me I needed a "hard start" and talked me into a Air Oasis air sanifier for $1100 which at the time I knew nothing about but after doing research am glad I got it.  He went to work outside on the unit and I went back into the house.  For two days after the service call my A/C still did not cool so called the company back and after explaining my problem was transferred to the manager.  She promised that a tech would be out to my house in an hour and he did arrive in about 45 minutes.  After checking the A/C unit I was informed that the coils were leaking and that the Air Oasis was not installed but just laying on the floor of the unit.  After much discussion and several phone calls to the manager I was offered a new Amana A/C unit with a 10% discount, credited for the hard start charge and the administrative fee (building permits, etc) was waived.  The tech put freon in the A/C unit so that it would cool until the new unit could be installed in two days.  He was very professional, courteous and embarrassed by the service I had received from the previous tech.  Two days later two very nice and professional techs installed my new unit and correctly installed the Air Oasis.  They showed me how to operate the thermostat and install the filers.  Also told me if I had any further questions to not hesitate to call the company.
My first impression of this company was very bad but I do feel that they made every effort to right the wrong performed by the first tech.  Of course I was not happy that I had to purchase a new A/C unit but it is working great and have had no problems with it.

I was told most recently that the control board and motor needed to be replaced and the quote was for $1200 plus labor cost. He advised that since I would be spending so much I should just get a new unit installed for $3800.

I had another company come for a second opinion. They did the repairs for under $700.
Response from Best Value Air Conditioning and Heating, LLC.

"Component failures are rare but when they do occur, we utilize only genuine OEM replacement components. Some competitors, who compete solely on price, choose to offer inferior quality and performing components manufactured in China. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. At Best Value, we pride ourselves in delivering the highest quality components at competitive prices and we are 150% customer oriented. We offer a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee and we stand behind ALL of our work."

I purchased a new air conditioner one year into my maintenance contract with Best Value.  The new air conditioner came with its own maintenance contract, so I called Best Value to cancel and recieve a refund.  I wrote a letter as instructed, and the company acknowledged their receipt of the leter.  However, it has been nearly seven months, and I am always told the person who handles refunds is out of the office when I call.  Furthermore, one of the technicians wasn't very knowledgable and the quality of the company's products was lacking.
Response from Best Value Air Conditioning and Heating, LLC.

"According to our records, the Customer was 2 and 1/2 years into a 3 year maintenance contract when the new unit was purchased. We do not pro-rate maintenance agreements but we were willing to retain the maintenance agreement on file. If this option had been chosen, the Customer was entitled to 6 months of maintenance (after the new unit maintenance contract had expired)."

The unit went out before being in service for one year and I have had at least 6 repair visits without resolving the problem. Today, I am waiting for a call to tell me know when a new circuit board is delivered, which will be the third time. The part has been on order for at least two weeks and I have been without the A/C since last October.
Response from Best Value Air Conditioning and Heating, LLC.

"With anything mechanical, sometimes there are higher than normal failure rates. In this case, the component that failed had to be special ordered directly from the manufacturer (located in Japan). Long lead times are not uncommon with scenarios like this one and they are completely out of our control. We always work with our customers to ensure their 100% satisfaction."
