Apparently Frankie had some wheezing/rattling in his lungs.  X-rays were done.  He has CHF and an enlarged heart with most likely a depressed ejection fraction.  Fluid is collecting in his lung/pleural cavity due to the CHF (heart failure).

Frankie is a little over 80 YO in human years.  He has had diabetes for about half of his cat (15 YO) life.  End organ damage is almost a given in this situation.  Treatment is palliative, comfort measures only.

Frankie was given an antibiotic shot that last 2 weeks "In case he had some infection in his lungs".  He received a prescription for Lasix (pulls the fluid off his lungs) and another for his insulin.  We picked up the Lasix at Walgreens and had the insulin prescription to send to an online pharmacy.

Unfortunately, the online pharmacy wouldn't take a fax from patients, only mailed in prescriptions.   The fax would have to come from the clinician.  I called and talked to them but was refused.   Their policy didn't allow them to "support online pharmacies".

We spent $500 on poor Frankie and he still didn't have his insulin. It's extremely doubtful all the services were warranted.  We might as well have taken some road kill in and saved Frankie the aggravation and frustration.  Also, I thought surely we roll out those easy bucks the clinic would be more than glad to call in the prescription, but no.  They did agree to finally put the prescription on their fax letterhead and give it to me to fax to the online pharmacy.

It's unfortunate.   My partner liked the staff there and they are really close to our home.  However, I've worked in health care for 36+ years and I've seen my share exorbitant costs and unneeded tests.

Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital are very good and great with my pets. I would recommend them to anyone. I also use them for grooming my pets. We're frequent boarders there. Our pets are there at least twice a month. They have reasonable prices, for all the stuff we do there. I've very happy with them. We also go back to them. I will absolutely continue to use them.

We have used these Vets for 10 years and are always happy with the service and professionalism. They also have an excellent boarding kennel.

I brought my Shih Tzu in for allergy problems and her yearly vaccines. I saw Dr. Wright who talked about the different dog foods and allergies. He takes a holistic approach to care, which is new to me, but so far so good. He also appears to keep up on the latest methods, procedures and meds for animals, recommending a new allergy medication that will be available later this month. I felt he was very thorough and the staff was friendly. The prices are very reasonable too. I would recommend this vet and facility without hesitation.

Everything about my experience with Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital was great. The staff was very pleasant, the techs were all very kind to my cat and very competent, and they called the day after I picked him up to check on him.
I was expecting my cat to be very stressed from the whole ordeal (he is a neighborhood stray) but he was handled very well during the check-in and when I picked him up it was obvious that he had as stress-free a time as possible.
The cost for the entire visit was less than I was expecting.
Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital will be my pets vet from now on.

Dr. Wight was great. He gave us a lot of information on the vaccines my dogs received, pet care and pet food. He really showed us he cared about my pets Dino and Murphy.

They are always very welcoming and friendly. The facility is clean. They are very good with my dog. Both my dogs are big so I paid $130 for grooming.

I love the doctors. We try to see Dr. John Hutchison.

I have seen several of the vets at WLAH--they are the best! Have taken wonderful care of my mini schnauzers, Sam and Bogey. Checkups, shots, Rx's, food, boarding--the whole staff is knowledgeable, professional and loves my furkids as much as I do! Special kudos to Dr. Lindblad and Dr. Hutchinson and Karen!

When I brought my kitten in he was purring, and he came back to me purring. He had absolutely no idea that he had surgery at any point during the healing process. The vet must have done an excellent job, and his stitches must have been comfortable since he never noticed the incision at all. I never even saw him look at that end of his body, except to play with his tail. I was so scared that my over-active kitten would be constantly licking his stitches, but he didn’t know they were there. Sure, you can get a $70 neuter, but it was worth the extra money to avoid a return trip to the vet!

Doctor John Hutchinson has been our vet for a number of years and was wonderful to my dog right to the end. He showed caring and compassion at this last visit and provided wonderful care through the years. I will return to him when I am relay to get a new dog and would recommend Waterford Lakes to others.

I have taken my pets to Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital for a number of years, they provide excellent care to the cats and are conveniently located for me, which is great in an emergency situation. They are always available to help. This was an uneventful visit and all was well with the cats. I recommend them not only for the care, but fair prices as well.

I took all three of our pets, the terrier, the Maltese and the cat in at the same time, and were pleased they could schedule us this way. I have used them for some time now and hope to never have to change. The whole office staff, from the vet to the clean up kid are pleasant and caring people and they keep my pets in excellent health.

MY 3 YEAR OLD MINI DOXIE 'BLEW OUT' HER BACK AND COULDN'T MOVE HER BACK LEGS. DR. TAYLOR AND STAFF WERE EXTREMELY CARING and COMPASSIONATE. AFTER MY PRE-VISIT PHONE CALL, HE CALLED THE BACK SURGEONS AND HAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE DOG EARLY THE NEXT MORNING (WHEN SHE HAD HER BACK SURGERY ). HE CALLED LATER TO CHECK UP ON ALL OF US. THE VETS AND STAFF ARE WONDERFUL!!
