TOM TANENBAUM INC

Tanenbaum roofing is not Tom Tanenbaum Inc. Tom Tanenbaum Inc. put a roof on my house 6 years ago. I’ve called them out 4 times due to a leak in my family room. The last time. The co name change to Tanenbaum roofing. They did not disclose they were bought out by Royalty Roofing of Indiana. The technician they sent out spent four hour spraying water on my roof. Did not find a leak. Squirted some sealant on the flashing. This did no good the roof still leaks. I figure out when we had three days rain straight that the leak was coming from the L flashing they were supposed to inspect when they installed new roof. They did not. On one of the previous service calls the tech said he found a nail shot in the side of the l flashing. He put silver sealant over it but did not stop the leak. I have a year left on my warranty but since they were bought out and changed their name they say they have no liability. A trustworthy roofer said the l flashing needs to be replace completely whic involves removing stucco. Installing new Lflashing. Replace stucco and shingles. The cost 2,240. Should be warrant because they missed or caused the leak. Royalty o& Indiana and Tanenbaum roofing will do nothing. They tell me I have to sue. Tanenbaum does not do a good job and do not honor the warranty. They must have been in financial trouble to be bought out. They are leavin me high and wet even though they guaranteed a leak free roof. Don’t use them learn from my mistake.

Originally replaced roof over 25 years ago.  The roof work was excellent.  We went back to him after hurricane Charley.   Not the regular roof crew came out.  The wrong cap was put on and he did an excellent job replacing the cap.

Then the problems!!!!!!   We had multiple leaks and repairs.  The repair man said that it was a faulty roof installation and was not done by the regular crew.   Their were in open slots not connected to roof, Nails were put in without connection. Slats were collecting water. Faulty installation of skylights.  The repairs were sloppy.  Black stuff all over.  We have pictures. It was to the point where repairs were not possible.  He started to charge for repairs even when it was clear that he was responsible for the mess. We called 12 roofers over for repairs and nearly every one said that the roof installation was incompetent.  They were surprised on how bad the roof repairs were in addition to installation.  It was to the point that we would have trouble selling the house in the future.

I called out Mr. T.  to see our roof.  We never received a response.  We were expecting him to pick up some responsibility.  We were going to report him to the state licensing but ran out of time with home emergencies.   Some roofers said we need to file with the state to remove his license. He has taken no responsibility with damage that he caused and the financial cost.

We had repairs done for $3500 December 2014.  He should pay for this.

Now we have another leak.  It was for a board installed that was catching water.  It is claimed to be approximately 30' in length by a roofer. It was installed to high.  So far it looks like another $1600 for repairs.

It is shame when roofers are irresponsible and not willing to admit and accept responsibility for their mistakes.

I didn't like that they give no extended warranty with the work . We use their service a year before and had to redo similar work again but they still charged us.

George Ebersold, the salesman came out and discussed what we would need done, gave  us a quote and explained how long the work would take.
I was impressed that Tom Tanebaum, the owner heads up the crew. He checks to make sure everything is done well. Very personable and honest. 
They also supplied a list of references of people who had had work done as well as what type of materials they use. We have  used Tanebaum in the past for roof repairs so the company was our first choice, but it was helpful to have a list of others who had used their services.

These folks are seriously top notch.  From the estimate to the completion of work I could not have asked for better.  I received (3) bids, and while they weren't the lowest (the lowest bid only gave me a verbal - didn't put it in writing) they provided a very clear written estimate that included my costs and the timeline to complete.  When people ask me if I know a commercial roofer, I recommend these guys.  You can't get better.

TOM TANNENBAUM ROOFING was not the first roofing company we called because Iwe wwere under the impression they
were strictly commerical roofers, therefore we had called four different roofing companies prior, three companies came
right out, their estimators each said would contact with estimate in less than a week. To date, we have heard nothing from
them. The third company was very prompt with his estimate, however, by that time we discovered that TANNENBAUM did
residential roofing and we immediately contacted them on June 20, 2011. With normal scheduling , materials and etc, they began work July 18, 200 and did finishing touches today, July 27,2011.  They were here when they said they would be,
worked continously in this scorching weather.  The men have a great working relationship, each knowing his job, and
you can hear them enjoying what they do and each other.
Each of the companies we called were on Angie's List, and will be reviewing them also.

Great people to work with. They gave me a good price, were very quick; completed the job within a week after giving me an estimate- and cleaned up after themselves nicely.

THEY WERE WONDERFUL. THEY WERE VERY COURTEOUS. THEY DID A GOOD JOB. THEY WERE VERY QUICK EFFICIENT. THEY WERE VERY FAIRLY PRICED. HE GOT A LOT DONE. HE WENT TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND GOT THE QUOTES FOR EVERYTHING HE DID FOR ME. IT WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL.

THE WORK WAS FINE. I WOULD NEVER USE HIM AGAIN, BUT THE WORK WAS FINE. I THINK I PAID HALF THE BILL BECAUSE HE TOOK TWO MONTHS TO SEND THE BILL. HE PUT A LIEN ON MY HOUSE TO GET THE REST OF THE BALANCE. I FELT THIS WAS BAD BUSINESS, AND I SWORE I WOULD NEVER USE HIM AGAIN.

Excellent experience. After contacting many roofing companies, Tom Tanenbaum was the only one that responded in a timely manner. Was always able to reach office and kept me informed of process and time table. They did a great job. The job more costly than normal due to demand as a result of hurricanes.
