The story above pretty much covers the whole project. A few notes here though. First. The national home craft brocure was neglected until the roof install guys were here. I should have read it before the contract, but it was sort of tossed in with the paperwork as Robin left. It states that a large discount was provided if the bill was paid in cash. Robin never said that. It also said no down payment. Robin never said that either. He said 1/3 down. His pricing was done before he knew how we would pay for the job so the price was set then. My fault because I trusted him. Second. When they were installing the roof panels I noticed that the radiant barrier look like craft paper and not the aluminiumized Mylar. I called attention to the crew leader about that. He looked at the contract and agreed. He wanted to know if they should tear everything off and start over with the material that they were given. I said just keep going and we would call Bill, the company rep, and talk of deducting the $660 for something tht I was not receiving. Bill never did answer any phone calls from me or the crew chief. Third. They were starting to rip off the attic vents and the vent for the stove. I stopped them. They said I was getting a ridge vent instead. OK, but no way to discharge the stove vent into the attic. They agreed. I further asked them how the air in the attic would flow to the ridge vent without any holes in the roof. He looked at the contract and said that the holes were not on the contract. No way. We got the vent holes without any real hassle. Final problem. The inspector turned it down due to a few missed seams in the final product. I called the Orlando office. I got pushed from one person to another. I finally got Bill, the only company fellow I ever saw. He was blaming Robin for selling a Texas product where he should not have. He was lying. He also blew off the radiant barrier issue as tough luck for Dan. again. Nothing was ever done He did say that they would take of the inspector's issues. He lied again. Nothing was ever done to correct the job. I told 3 people about failing the inspection. Gerald never called me or came out in the last year since then.
Description of Work: I answered an ad for metal roofing that ran in the Orlando Sentinel. A salesman arrived and went through his sales pitch. He then went up on the roof to measure the sq. feet required. My wife and I took the guy into the house to talk of money. He gave us a price for a metal, with and without foam insulation and the more pricey metal that did not show the screw heads. We spoke of a radiant barrier to be applied before the sheet metal. I had / have doubts of how well that would work, I opted for the $660 option of the metalized Mylar film as a thermal barrier. Robin, the sales guy, was not very experienced in answering tech details. I should note that all of his sales pitch was for the sheet metal vendor, their colors, shape, paint, etc.. The Orlando store was not even brought up. Shorten the story to the fact that we signed a contract for the metalized Mylar radiant barrier and a complete roof-over with the white metal. Robin spent a lot of time to sell their financing package. He did provide a couple samples, maybe because I would not give them back, along with the litature about the metal company. As we were wrapping up the deal, Robin produced another brochure that I just stuck in the stack of papers. Because I was paying cash, he wanted 1/3 down payment.. I did catch in the contract that he had checked covering over the skylights. No way. A few days later a fellow named Bill came out and remeasure the roof. The schedule was a month from then but they called early and asked if early was OK. Sure was. An install crew arrived and spent the next few days doing the roof over. Bill badly underestimated the volume of trim work required so the crew had to spent a total of 5 days.

Response from Prestige Metal Roofing, Inc.
National Homecraft of Central Florida strives to perform quality residential metal roofing at affordable prices. To that end we take care to install our products as they were contracted for. Unfortunately, there seems to be discrepancies between the contract and the perceived scope of work in this case. 1. According to our records, this homeowner was given all applicable discounts available under the promotion cited. He did not finance the work so the “Easy Financing-No money down” didn’t apply to the contract. That statement simply means that we can finance 100% of the work for homeowners who need that convenience. Our products are custom cut for each home in their choice of color so a deposit is required to cover the “cut” panels as they are not returnable to the manufacturer. 2. Our contracts state the following: Substitution of Material: Contractor may substitute materials without notice to the Owner in order to allow the work to proceed provided that the substituted materials are of no lesser quality than those listed in the specifications. The contract calls for “Innovative” brand radiant barrier and the customer was furnished FSK Tightweave Scrim, which has similar quality and performance. 3. Vent item seems to have been resolved on-site. We try to be responsive to the homeowners needs while on the job. 4. Local Building departments records shows that “dry-inspection” was called on 6/2/11 and passed on 6/3/11. “Final” inspection shows called on 6/8/11 and approved on 6/9/11. The building department show no deficiencies or items outstanding on the permit. 5. The homeowner indicated a Workmanship Quality of “Excellent” on the crew evaluation on 6/7/11 and also wrote in the adjacent space “Outstanding”. National Homecraft has performed all items under the contract and there are no items outstanding. While we are disappointed that one of our customers feels negatively toward us, we stand behind our work.

Gerald contacts me and says they only do metal roofs, but would like to bid on that. We schedule an appointment and he shows up on time. I was surprised that he showed up in a sedan, until he pulled out a collapsible ladder from the trunk. He was knowledgable and gave a reasonable estimate. Ultimately, we decided on a non-metal roof.
Description of Work: I contacted them for an estimate to repair or replace my roof.

It was a very good experience throughout. The crew who did the work were professional, fast, and cleaned up as they went. We love the roof and have received a lot of compliments on it from neighbors and strangers. If we're in the yard mowing or doing any yard work, people walk, drive and bicycle over to ask us about the roof.
Description of Work: National Homecraft put a white metal roof on our house. I don't recall the cost, something more than reshingling, but it is already saving us on our electricity bills, the house is staying cooler, and we're running the air conditioner about 1/3 less than before to stay as cool on hot days.

I liked everything about the work and the installation made a noticeable difference on our house. The roof also dropped our house temperature and the roof has a lifetime guarantee. He got two or three other jobs after neighbors saw his work.
Description of Work: I hired them to do roofing work for us, which included putting a new roof on our home.
