"We are certainly disappointed with the ratings from customer. We strive to conduct all service in a timely manner but do have to weigh the issues against the needs of attention due to time constraints. This problem was related to us and not deemed to be an immediate threat to the security of the roof so it was relegated to a class 2 service meaning that we would go out when we had a tech in the area. At the time of this review, we had been in contact with Mr. [Member Name Removed] and had already scheduled a service call. When the Production Manager arrived, it was immediately apparent that the sounds coming from the roof was not normal. He inspected the noise coming from under the vented ridge and discovered that it was being caused by the wind blowing across the tag ends of the underlayment underneath the ridge cap. He trimmed the underlayment so that ends were not able to flutter in the wind and that seems to have eliminated the noise. This is an unprecedented occurrence in our experience. In almost 40 years in the roofing business we have never seen the like. It seems that the location of Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s home upon a hilltop, catches the wind more so than normal, and that caused the ends of the underlayment to flutter underneath the ridge cap. The roof installation was otherwise in good condition and the noise never jeopardized the functionality of the project. I wish that we could have been able to diagnose & eliminate the trouble earlier, but do to our tremendous backlog in light of Hurricane Irma, we've had to schedule service work in order of need."
We opted to upgrade the guage of the metal which added to the cost but the salesman negotiated that out with us. We also chose to pay with a credit card and they do charge an additional fee to use a credit card but we felt it was worthwhile. The permit was pulled within a few days of signing the contract and the work began within 10 days. The crew was driving to Orlando from Ocala so they arrived later in the morning than we would have expected but it was not an issue for us, just something to be aware of
The only issue was that we specifically wanted to have the soffit and fascia REPLACED and that was not made clear to the work crew so they had planned on just putting metal on top of the existing material. We did express our concern to the job lead (Bill) and they took action to correct the matter as well as adjusted our price down slightly. We did not understand why this would not be a normal course of action since part of the reason for replacing it was to improve energy efficiency and if they had just put metal over the old stuff air would not have been able to flow easily.
The only constructive feedback I would offer is 2 points - 1 - Ensure the salesman CLEARLY writes up what you want done in the contract to avoid misunderstandings and 2 - Ask that the onsite crew do a better job of picking up debris and screws in the yard etc. (I think they wanted to avoid having to drive back another day, but we found lots of screws/nails in the grass that could have hurt our dogs).
This is a small, family run operation and we felt they truly did want to do a good job and make us happy. We are very pleased and impressed with the way the roof looks and have recieved many compliments from neighbors and friends. We definately would recommend them!
