Michaels Plumbing of Central Florida

The plumber named Mike came out to fix my water pressure issue. He said that there was nothing restricting the flow and believed that it was my shower head. He offered to put a new shower head on for me but I said I had one. He did not offer to put that one on for me, but I am left with the bill and the same problem.

I've used Michael's plumbing multiple times in the past but this will be the last time I call them. Hired them to replace a kitchen faucet. Something not that hard to do. I did not ask the price over the phone because I expect about how much something like that should cost and since I've used them in the past I assumed it would be a fair price. First they were late. Then after coming, they wanted to charge me mid $300s to simply replace the faucet with one I had already purchased. The other reviews are correct in that they overcharge you. I declined and had to pay $35 since they came here for less than 10 minutes to give me a ridiculous price. Instead I called another reputable plumber on Angie's list who did the same job for $140. Never again with Michael's plumbing.

The plumber(I wish i could remember his name) was punctual and called to confirm appointment before his arrival. He did a thorough examination of areas of concern. I had a leaking faucet and dripping under the sink. He assured me the problem was not in the pipes. I needed to replace my old Moen kitchen faucet. I was very pleased he had a reasonably priced new faucet. He took out the old faucet and replaced it with an upgraded Moen faucet. He took extra time to explain the importance of using plumbers putty. Whoever installed the last faucet did not use plumbers putty. That was one of the reasons the faucet leaked. It was also old and needed to be upgraded. He did not pressure me in any way to replace, rather than repair the old faucet. I highly recommend Michael's Plumbing.

It ended up costing me $541 which I think is absolutely outrageous. I was very unhappy with the representative, his demeanor and the mess that he left. Apparently he didn?t have the right tool to take the door off of the adjoining dishwasher so he had to leave and go to Home Depot. He said he didn?t have the right tool in his truck. Apparently, he told me I needed to read the fine print on the work order because he had to add $117 to the bill to travel to the store. I needed no other parts, the parts that were there were fine and just needed to be reconnected. Overall it was a very bad experience and I would never consider using this company again.

The service call charge was $54.  That seemed reasonable.  The plumber was at my house for 1 hour.  The "standard" book charge for removing the toilet, replacing the flange and resetting the toilet was $365.95.  I was given a coupon for $25.

He arrived on time, was professional and cleaned up his mess.   But $395 was an extremely excessive cost for one hour of work.

It was expensive. They arrived in a timely manner and did a good job but the service seemed to be over priced. The person they sent out to do the work was very helpful and polite.

It was a clash of events that I could not do this job myself (normally I do a lot of the 1-2 hour jobs myself),so I quickly called Michael's Plumbing since they have done whole house re-plumbing work for me.
It was after 5pm on a Friday. They quoted me a price of 987.00 (total $1040) for the install. The told me my particular water heater is more expensive, and being that I was on a rush, I didn't verify, but I knew in back of my mind that's quite high, but again bad timing I was not able to verify.
I later found out that the Water Heater from Home Depot was 248.00! With 6 year warranty (same as the what Michaels offered for their water heater). I also noticed that my particular water heater is not more expensive then the 'standard' water heaters.
After pricing around afterwards, I paid at least 400-500 OVER the standard full install. And if I did it myself, much cheaper.
Bottom line, if this review gets read, beware of over pricing! Don't be too much in a rush, I only hope you'll read this and immediately price a competitor.

Michael's Plumbing has an A+ rating on BBB's site and that's why I called them for an estimate. Michael (The supervisor, not the owner) came to my house immediately and gave me a quote which is the most competitive in price in comparison with 3 other quotes that I got.

However I became a little hesitant in using the company after seeing some of the comments here on Angies' list. After talking to Michael a few times over the phone, I eventually decided to go ahead.

The result was a happy surprise to me. Their team came on time with only one business day notice (it was an emergency for me), and their job was done professionally, quickly and in great detail. Each team member seems to be an expert in a specialized area and in charge of a particular part of the project. At the end of the day my house has hot and cold water running again and the wall was patched on the second day. I have to say that everything was done professionally, neat and clean, and their team members are polite and easy to deal with. They were also very honest in giving their professional opinion so that I could avoid changing my shower valve and saved some money. I certainly would be happy to use them again if I have other plumbing issues down the road.

Buyer beware!!! They are capable, but crooked. I called them to come install 2 faucets in a new countertop, and reconnect the plumbing to the sinks. They quoted me, on site, $625. I quickly called 2 competitors to get estimates over the phone for the job....and both estimated the job to be $200-250. I send Michael's packing and used the competitor. The total bill was $225. The new plumber had experience with Michael's as a former employee, and explained they offer their installers a 28% kick-back of the total for booking these incredibly over-inflated jobs. That explains the $400 difference in the bill. This company's business practice is totally unscrupulous!

I called on a Sunday evening to have someone come over to replace the valve. I found the issue with the valve while performing my periodic maintenance on my water heater (drain and flush). However, I couldn't flush it out because the valve had broke. The answering service took my information and I had the tech call shortly afterwards. His name is Edgar Diaz - and I was very impressed how responsive he was. Given that it was Sunday evening, you would think that he would try to talk out of it (although, it did seem so at first, but, later realized that he was genuinely trying to troubleshoot from the phone), but, he came about 40 minutes later. He took a look at the situation and got to work. 
The level of customer service I received from him was exceptional. The reason I say so is because I've had Michael's plumbing install my water heater back in 2009. When he saw how it was installed, he took it upon himself to fix certain things. After he was done, he tells me that he's very detailed about his work, and didn't feel that the work performed during the install was adequate. Apparently, the job that was done could have caused a lot of damage to the house so he fixed it up. He also noted that the person who installed it is no longer with their company. As a side note: I will leave this up to the reviewer whether this was good or bad. I personally think that it was great service because he could have just left it as is. 
Anyway, after the job was done, Edgar replaced the old gate valve with a lever valve. He also replaced the copper piping with PVC (easier for any future repairs). He left the house as it was and was clean. 
The price is a little pricey (but what plumbing job isn't) - so I rated it fair. In addition, they say that there are no extra costs during after hours and weekends (per their website), so I enjoyed that. I would recommend. 

Our Kitchen line became clogged On Thursday August 16th, 2012. We looked for a plumber and contacted a few. Since we are new in the area. We contacted Michaels on Friday for a cost estimate of cleaning our kitchen line and removing a foreign object. This was done via their webpage contact form. They promise fast 24/7 service and were not even willing to call back.

Nothing to tell. Unplugged toilet. Friendly. Professional. Rather expensive but got the job done.

.They are very punctual, honest, and fair priced. I have used them several times!
