What a wonderful team, and what a contrast! It is a rare occasion that you get to call two different companies for the same job, but this time I did, and boy was I glad to meet the team at Junk It Plus! I am one of 7 children, all grown with families, and last Saturday my parents summoned our entire family tree to clear out 40 years or so worth of growth and junk from their back yard. The event was amazingly fun, all of us getting together and taking chainsaws and rakes to everything, but by 1 p.m. we had created a literal _mountain_ of waste. Think 20 feet long, by 8 feet wide, by 5 feet tall. In the middle of it all was a regulation-height metal basketball hoop with a concrete foundation root-ball that weighed easily 200 lbs. My nephew joked that my brothers and I looked just like the Iwo Jima memorial statue when we were pulling that down. Anyway, so we had a lot of stuff. No-one had thought this far ahead, and now that we had created this mass of waste that seemed impossible to get rid of. I went to Angie's List, and called the top company on the list. The top company listed was _not_ Junk It Plus, but rather Junk & Trash Removal FL. I will leave my description for their review, but suffice it to say that crew was whining before they even saw what we needed, and that got much worse when they did see. They named a price which was more than twice what Junk It Plus would later complete the job for, with a small discount if we did the work of loading the truck for them. I knew this wasn't going to go well. I gave that company a small portion of the job for a small portion of the fee, mainly because I felt guilty about calling them out on a Saturday, and then sent them on their way. After that unpleasant business was dispensed with, I went back to Angie's List, which is usually so good to me. The next call I made was to Junk It Plus. Ricardo answered immediately, and was friendly and attentive as I explained the job. He asked for a cell phone picture of Mount Trashmore, which I sent over. He promptly texted back with a price(less than half of what the other guys quoted), and mentioned that he needed two hours to pick up an additional helper to take care of that basketball hoop. I thanked him and we spent the afternoon tidying up the yard(adding even more to that pile) As predicted, almost exactly two hours later, Ricardo and his two-man crew arrived in a giant hydraulic-assisted truck. The crew was jovial and joking as they basked in the glory of the giant pile of tree branches, trunks, vines, metal and concrete. One of the crew members joked that the concrete basketball hoop foundation was "Thor's Hammer" (Avengers 2), and each took turns trying to pick it up. One crew member showed everyone up(in my family and out) by lifting the thing straight up. With a good laugh, the mood was set. The crew loaded that basketball hoop onto the truck whole, and from there we gladly worked as a team with my brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces all wanting to get in on the loading of the giant truck. We spent the whole time joking together, naming the logs and branches as we all took turns tossing them Olympian-style into the truck. Honestly, the crew did the vast majority of the work, but they let us feel like we were useful and made great conversation. The crew brought with them saws and tie straps, and expertly packed the truck so tightly and so high that they managed to take every piece of yard waste in that mountain. My parents, and my whole family were amazed and delighted to watch them work. 4 days later, we are still raving about Ricardo's crew and the massive accomplishment that they made possible. We had so much fun, we are scheduling another workday soon, and this time I know right away who we're going to call. Thank you Ricardo and the whole crew at Junk It Plus!
