The tile was installed but is now problematic. In one spot where he should have cut smaller tile to trim he opted to fill the wide spaces with grout. In other spots when you walk on the tiles it sounds hollow. I asked a respected contractor friend of mine about that at he advised that improper tile adhesive and/or improper tile adhesive application would cause a hollowing on the underneath side of the tile. That makes it more brittle and the sound is annoying. The finished product of the completed job is shoddy. There's unfinished painting around the frame on the attic access, scars in the paint and the list goes on. It all seems petty but there was so much wrong. Some of my experience included watching afternoon drinking binges on the porch, scrap and debris left in piles, water hoses left on (twice), remaining broken tiles created a potential place for nesting critters, they had to be hauled away. He'd been paid to come back and complete all of the touch ups. He'd been paid to do that. He never came back or called to arrange that completion. I called him and asked him about shelves that he'd not completed. I'd paid for that too. I requested my money back for that because I needed to get it done. He agreed to pay me back and did so (via a friend) with a post dated check for a lesser amount than agreed. The check bounced as I suspected it would. He eventually made good on the check but he never completed the painting job he was paid to do. I can't even speak to him about the tile problem because I never want to talk to him again.
