GROUND SOURCE LANDSCAPING

A terrible experience from start to finish. Poorly managed, poorly executed. Took forever to produce my estimate, then reneged on delivering it for reasons unknown. Estimator was pleasant and professional, but he was the only one among them. Inadvisable to do business with them unless you have six months to throw away waiting for no responses, lack of delivery, and unprofessional behavior.

They came out and talked about a solution to my backyard drainage system. Within a couple of days they emailed me a quote. The quote did not include the permitting necessary to do the work. I was told that getting the permit would be approximately $800 to $1200 more. They requested a copy of my survey and said that they would get back to me about how much a permit would be. After a couple of weeks, I emailed them about getting the additional quote for the permit. I receive an email from them about a week later. They stated that their engineers were too busy to do the permit application and suggested that I get an engineer to do the necessary work. Of course I declined and have contracted with another company that quoted the permitting in their original quote. Beware of any company that doesn't want to do a permit. If you do let the work commence without a permit, you are legally responsible. And no one should have to hire an engineer to do their own permitting work

Ground source installed grass in our back yard and part of the front. The owner was very responsive. The project fell behind schedule a few days but we were kept in the loop and it did get done. I am pleased with the quality of the sod and the install

It went very well. Everything was done on time. They cleaned up after themselves. It was beautiful. The plants were planted properly and the irrigation was done correctly. It was just beautiful.

There were problems, which required Joe Mouad, the owner of Ground Source, return several times, but he stuck with it until everything worked perfectly.
First, he had his guys dig a path for the piping to go through and drill a hole through the garage wall for the electrical components to attach to the sprinkler master switch. They had to get into a canoe and run the pipe about 50' into the lake making sure the algae wouldn't clog the strainer. Because of the length of the run, the pump didn't work properly so it had to be moved. Joe made sure all the sprinklers worked properly and recalibrated the times and dates for watering, he tested all the electrical relays and checked up after his workers to ensure they left my yard clean each time they came out to work. They left my property looking good and the pump system works beautifully still for a very reasonable price.

I've used Ground Source on three different occasions this year. I've had issues with sprinkler heads needing to be replaced/reattached to the irrigation pipe, and a leaky irrigation pipe saturating the yard. With the sprinkler heads, the process was very simple. In fact, the first Ground Source employee who came out to fix the first sprinkler head went above and beyond and made sure all the sprinkler heads in the affected zone were cleaned out from accumulated dirt and debris that had gotten into the system. He spent a lot of time making sure everything was in working order, and the charge was only $137.
The second sprinkler head issue was a  result of my lawn service crew clipping an above-ground head with a weed eater. Instead of replacing the above-ground head with a new one of the same type, I wanted to replace it with an in-ground pop up. The Ground Source employee did a great job and was done in no time. The cost was $90.
The leaky irrigation pipe was more tricky and required multiple visits. Joe, the owner, came out first and replaced a valve, but that didn't solve the problem. He came out again, but was skeptical that the issue was related to the sprinkler system since the saturated ground was so close to a downspout from a gutter on the house.
I'd done some experimenting by turning off the water at the meter, and so I knew the issue was related to irrigation system. Joe was still skeptical, but to his credit he stuck with the problem. Another employee came out the third time, and sure enough he found a small leak in one of the pipes. He fixed the problem, and Joe charged next to nothing for the repair since they'd had such a difficult time finding it.
I HIGHLY recommend Ground Source. Everyone I've worked with from the company has been extremely professional, and very willing to answer all my questions.

Called and talked to Joe about using Palmetto in our yard since our old Seville died in 3/4 of our yard and we wanted something with a deeper root system and hardier that could take some shade. The estimator came out the next morning and measured the areas and joe gave me a range and said he would confirm once he sourced the sod and email me a proposal. Once we got the proposal,we ordered the installation and it was delivered on a covered truck a few days later. His guys showed up a few hours later and installed the sod. We have a very complicated grass design on a small downtown lot, so the cutting and filling is not easy. The install crew left some edges up and some gaps. Otherwise it was very smooth. I pushed down the edges and cut some pieces from the leftover sod and it is looking good a week later.  We are following the watering guidelines for semi-shaded lots and have had the fungicide and insecticide applied. We paid more then is typical for Palmetto, but it came from harmony and was top quality. We are very please so far.

Joe and his team did a great job.  Smart, responsive, purposeful and consistent.  Plan to use Ground Source for all my landscaping projects in the future.

After another landscaper killed off my entire yard with no immediate plan to move forward, I contacted Ground Source in a panic. The crew arrived the next day to grate my property after a great consultation with Joe. He knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it. I requested plants (jasmine, coontie, lillies, etc. ) plus sod and showed him how the initial plan was supposed to look. He got it done quickly and got it done right. They even worked with me to get my irrigation in the best working order. Was it the cheapest? Not at all, but reasonable considering the number of plants I requested and the irrigation repairs. I was impressed with the crew, too--they had top-notch equipment and were clean cut. My yard looks gorgeous.

Asked for a complete estimate with location of irrigation head since this was such a large job.  We had specific requirements do to the large area involved.  The area to be graded was done first and to our satisfaction then with in a couple of days the irrigation job started and was finished within a couple of days.  Very pleased with the quality of the work.

It didn't go at all

Gave Joe the go ahead on 3/09/13 a few days later he came and spread the weed killer. This should be 2 weeks before the existing dead sod is removed. Four weeks later the existing sod was removed and 2 day after that the new sod was laid.

Unfortunatly we went with another company that had a more attractive price.

The people from Ground Source Landscaping are friendly and punctual. It took them a few days to give back the estimates.

Joe was the first company to respond to my Angie's List request for estimates.  He arrived promptly as promised and delivered the estimate via email from his truck before departing.
I was waiting for the utility company to install the irrigation meter when Joe emailed offering a discount because he would have a crew in my neighborhood.  I took him up on the offer and fortunatelyj the utility company installed the irrigation meter right before his crew arrived.
The crew worked quickly and neatly cleaning up after themselves well.  Joe offered to come by the next day to inspect.  He also gave me an overview of how to program the system and adjust the sprinklers.
This was such a great experience at a great price that I've asked him for an estimate to re-sod the yard as well.
You won't be disappointed by Ground Source and Joe!

From initial call for Irrigation Installation to finish, Joe always returned my calls promptly and showed up when he said he would.  He is very knowledgeable about his business, and made several recommendations.  He worked with me on pricing and gave me advice on what could wait until later.  He told me I could call him anytime with questions I may have about operation of the system.  I plan to use him again for sod installation in April. I'm so glad I found him on Angie's List!

Overall was a great . From estimate all the way to final payment.  Everything was is on time and as described.

They sprayed weed killer on the area to be resodded. Then about 10 days later removed oold dead grass & grades area. A day or two later the sod was delivered in the evening. The next day the sod was laid.

From start to finish, it went like clockwork. From removing old sod to grading for new sod, everything went great.The only complaint I have is some of the sod pieces were not butted up to each other, thereby leaving holes in the lawn, small ones.Overall an excellent job, I can look with pride on my lawn now, thanks to Ground Source Landscaping. With the size of my lawn it was well worth it.

Outstanding work!  Showed up when promised and performed the work taking time to be certain I understood how to cut off the irrigation if a leak occurred in the future.  Very professional.

I noticed one of my street trees had not leafed out with the others, and the grass in the area looked stressed.  I turned on my irrigation and that one whole zone was not coming on.  No wonder - poor tree was thirsty!  Then I discovered water gushing out of one spot near the curb.  Normally I run the irrigation while I am asleep, so it could have been out for months.   I found Ground Source after a short on-line search and they were able to come out the same day!  The two-man crew was very prompt and professional, and they had all the equipment and parts necessary to make the diagnosis and repairs.  Looks like someone had parked on the grass at the curb and broke a head (don't park on the grass, people!).  I asked for some extra heads where other areas were a little dry.  He recommended I NOT do one of them and explained why.  How nice and honest - refreshing!  He even did a check on the back and side yards as well.  Pricing was extremely reasonable.  I have recommended them to neighbors.P.S.  The tree leafed out about a week later.
