Fence Direct Inc

I tried to refrain myself from posting a bad review for the past six months, but I want potential buyers to know what they are in for if they do business with fence direct. I originally signed my contract on March 31 of 2021. We ordered a white aluminum fence and was told that it was a special order so it would take approximately eight weeks to be installed. I certainly understand the hardships that the global supply chain is facing right now so I figured that that timeline was reasonable. Well, May turned into June and June turned into July. I was never contacted by fence direct with an update, I always had to reach out to them and every time I received the same response… We still don’t have the materials and we’re working on it. I never received alternative solutions or a definite install date. Finally in August, I threaten to cancel and miraculously I was told that an installer would be at my house within 48 hours to put in the fence. Great! Or so I thought… The installers missed two appointments. Unfortunately I work full-time and I don’t have the luxury of waiting around all day for somebody who’s not gonna show up. They finally arrived at the third scheduled appointment but low and behold, they had the wrong material! 5 months of waiting and they show up with the wrong material! They came with black aluminum instead of white aluminum…. do you know what they told me? That they could paint it! You cannot paint aluminum. Aluminum needs to be sandblasted and powder coated. If you paint it, the paint will simply just chip off. I was then told by the installers that they do not have the white aluminum in stock that I ordered back in March. Once again, I was not given any other solutions. My husband and I went onto their website and saw that they had a similar style in vinyl. Wonderful! Why didn’t anybody explain this to us before? It really boggles my mind how terrible their customer service is once you sign the contract. They finally installed the fence the second week of September. However, the craftsmanship on the gate slats was shoddy and I was not happy with the execution. It looked very rough and unfinished. I contacted customer service and they sent somebody out yesterday, October 22, 2021. The gentleman told me that he was going to take the gate to fix it and he’ll be right back. He took the gate and never returned! I’ve now been without a gate for over 24 hours and my dog is not able to use the yard being that he will run away. Just when I thought this fiasco was done, I feel like I’m right back at square one. I’ve been trying to contact the for the past 24 hours with no response. It’s crazy tI feel like I’m in the twilight zone with this company… I really don’t forsee them staying in business much longer if their customer service doesn’t improve!

Great company to work with. On time when they were scheduled. We did have to have a revisit due to gates not closing on their own, however, we have a difficult grade to our back yard. When we contacted them to have someone come back out to fix it, they were very accommodating and took care of the issue at no cost and we would definitely work with them again! A+++

Anthony Tomasi was great, he came out on time. Listened to what we wanted, gave suggestions, took measurements. He handled any permits and getting our hoa approval. Very satisfied.

I experienced the rudest customer service I have ever received. I had called to find replacement parts for the fence they had installed in 2012. The sales contact Bradley left a message to call him the next day. When I called back, I was first left on hold for a long time, then a person got on the line and was extremely rude and insulting. She repeatedly refused to give her name but had a very thick Spanish accent.

Installed late and done improperly.  Gaps between ground and fence so my dogs can get out.  Containing the dogs was why I wanted a fence.  The fence was also installed too close to the trees on my property.  Left messages for a manager or owner to contact me and have not received any contact back.  Chased the sales rep with numerous calls and emails.  He claimed it would be rectified but it has not been.  Luckily I have only paid for half.  I do not intend to pay the balance until it is rectified.

The gentleman who gave me the quote was very knowledgeable. I contacted different fence people but this company did a great job. They were very professional, punctual and did everything they said they were going to do. Their price was within the ballpark like the other fence people so I think it was a good.

I like the fence and they did a good job. They came when they said they would and they finished the job. We were satisfied with the quality.

I contacted Fence Direct about replacing my existing wood fence. The sales man came out relatively quickly and provided an estimate on the spot. They required a 10% deposit upfront which I agreed to, however, once the work was done it was next to impossible to get back in touch with the salesman. I was not satisfied with the quality of work performed (there were areas with 6 inch gaps from the fence to the ground) and when I sent photos, called and emailed the salesman he did not respond. About 3 weeks later someone from the office emailed me to let me know they had not forgotten about me. I had not yet paid the balance due on my account and started getting collections calls. I was told the owner of the company would call me back, which he never did. Finally, over 2 months after the installation date, the fence was repaired. There was no communication with me however to say they were going to fix it, they just came and adjusted the fence. I only noticed that it was fixed because a hanging flower basket had been knocked to the ground and there were some pavers that they had initially and quot;jammedand quot; under one of the gaps now in the yard.
When I called to discuss my balance due, I told the person I was speaking with that I did not feel comfortable paying the whole balance because of the level of customer service I received. He transferred me to the Owner of the company who was one of the most unprofessional people I have ever spoken with. He didn't introduce himself as he came onto the phone, told me that they lost money on my fence because of the size of the job and basically said that if I didn't' pay the full balance due they were going to come and remove the fence.
When looking for someone to repair / replace your fence, you might get an OK price from Fence Direct but the level of service and courteousness you will receive is sub-par at best. I would definitely recommend paying a little bit more to go with a company that will treat you with respect.
