I was seeking a professional tile setter to install slate tiles on my front porch concrete landing.
On Monday, 08/18/2014, I called Design Concept, got voice mail, left a message.
After a week of no-call-back, I called again, got voice mail, left a message.
Design Concept never called me back.

The Design Concepts team did an excellent job. There communication and punctuality was great. We have an outdoor shower off of the master BR. It was always finished in stucco. We wanted to upgrade the look. DC gave us recommendations. We picked the material from a stone vendor in Lake County and DC did all of the design work.
Note that the rock and mortar had to be carried through the house and master BR. There was absolutely no mess or clean up required by us.
We have left over rock we want to use and we will use DC to do the work. Nobody else.

I hired John a couple of years ago to re-tile the floor in my spare bath. I wanted to get a feel for him (responsiveness, quality of workmanship, etc) on a small level before hiring him to do a larger job. He did an excellent job. I am now ready to remove my bathtub, retile the shower walls, etc... John came early December, gave me an estimate, and told me that he was busy, but would be able to start in a few weeks. I was in no hurry and was okay to wait since I knew he was the one I wanted to do the job. Since early January, I have made a total of about 15 calls / texts to John with no response. It's a shame - he is a really nice guy who does great work. I'm disappointed that I will have to look for another contractor....

It went great. They are excellent craftsmen who are experts at what they do. Meticulous attention to detail. Kept job site clean and organized. This is our fourth bathroom remodel and they are hands down the best we've ever seen. In our business we deal with relatively small contractors on a regular basis so our extremely high opinion of John and his crew is based on many interactions.
Update: We continue to be amazed with the quality of John's work. Everytime we use our shower we notice another example of his skill and attention to detail. We sure were lucky to have had him do our remodel.

John and his team members were here last week to give us a quote as to what he believed it would cost to fix a very unfinished stone laying job on our fireplace that was done by another contractor recommended by Florida Catastrophe in the Orlando area. I did not utilize Florida Catastrophe...only the one subcontractor that they recommended. The sub under that sub was a disaster...needless to say...Florida Catastrophe is just that...a catastrophe.
John reassured us that the job could be salvaged. Confidant in his abilities and because John was recommended by D and M Flooring, we asked him to help us out of the mess.
John, Russell and Kyle were on time, had every tool they needed, were respectful of our home and property at all times. These men went to work immediately and it was not long before I knew that our decision was a good one. John and his team took what was a very lazy attempt at a natural stone fireplace and salvaged it the best that they could. They will be back next week to enhance the stone if my husband feels it needed. My only regret is that I did not have them install the initial stone work to begin with. If I would have hired John in the beginning I would not have the damage caused by the first contractor.
If you are looking for superior workmanship, professionalism, integrity...look no further than Design Concept LLC. We are going to have them back to remodel our tile in our washrooms....
Our Fireplace now looks like somebody took pride in thier quality of workmanship....John, Russell and Kyle...
Thank you to all of you for helping us out of our ugly fireplace.
It is a shame that other contractors profit off of poor quality jobs and we must hire others to fix the mistakes...but Design Concept and John , Russell and Kyle are the real deal. This is the A Team. Hire this company from the start.
Thank you very much !!!

I was referred to John while discussing flooring options for other rooms in my home. He promptly returned my call and came out to look at my project. We discussed various options for the renovation. I initially thought we would only be able to do the floors but decided to at least get a quote for the total make over (including replacing the shower area and retiling around the tub area). SInce I was concerned about the cost, John offered to give me a breakdown of the individual elements so I could do the job in stages if I felt more comfortable. Upon receiving his estimate, we were pleasantly surprised and thrilled at the prospect of actually being able to do the entire project at once. John and his team showed up on time and on schedule. They carefully protected the floors and furniture in their work areas and throughout the house as they worked. They were incredibly fast and efficient with the removal and meticulous with their work as they cut and laid the River Rock and Travertine. The work was beautifully done. Very exact and detailed. John is a perfectionist and the quality of his work is priceless. You know he is proud of his work and cares that it will look perfect. He doesn't settle for OK. I saw him pick and choose even small pieces until he felt he had found the perfect stone. We had a few hiccups along the way and he easily made the adjustment needed without the slightest problem. He noticed that the original tile ordered for the Shower Band and Tub Band was inconsistent with the glass tiles we were planning to integrate with it. Instead of just installing what we ordered he came to me to ask if that was the look I wanted. We found that the materials I had received didn't match the sample from the showroom. The stone was slightly larger, causing the glass not to fit correctly. John worked with me to find a way to alter the design and then took care of getting the materials exchanged and worked around the area until the new materials had arrived. While installing the shower valve, John mentioned that the Shut-Off valve on the outside of our house had frozen in place and that he had to go out to the street to turn the water supply off. I was concerned about this issue and he offered to repair the valve for us. We also had an issue with the fill valves on both of the toilets that John noticed as they were being replaced. We are not handy around the house and at my request he acquired all the parts needed to fix both toilets and the outside Water Shut Off Valve and did so for a very reasonable amount. We are thrilled with out new bathrooms and laundry area. We loved the look of the Master so much we are planning to get John back soon to retile our guest bath. Wouldn't use anyone else.

John and his helper arrived right on time and got right to work removing the swinging door so that there would be ample space. I was not certain on how to remove the door since its not held by standard hinges but John knew exactly what he was doing and removed it with no problem. John then took a straight edge and marked the “cutting line” on the tile and proceeded to cut (using an electric hand saw) away the damaged tile while his helper held a shop vac to collect the dust. They were both very professional, cleaned up after themselves, and I was very pleased with John’s workmanship.

John did a fantastic job, he was meticulous in his work, checking and rechecking the spacing and height of each tile before moving to the next. He and his crew were friendly and respectful of the work area, cleaning up each day. I asked many questions through out the process always answered to my satisfaction. John is one of the rare people in the construction industry or any industry that does top notch quality work and believes nothing less than his best will do and his only job is to satisfy his clients. If you want top quality tile work, you will find no better.

They were completely professional. They didn't make a mess inside. They did everything outside and brought it in. It was impeccable.

I think the price that they quoted is around $4200. They were professional. My husband dealt with them more than I did. I didn?t deal with them directly and I talked to them over the phone. They were definitely courteous and answered all the questions. We would definitely use their services in the future.

A real pleasure from start to finish. John is an experienced professional with a dedication to planning, detail and quality of installation that is absolutely without equal in my experience of remodeling. His skilled team shares the same commitment. John was very helpful and patient in helping us to visualize and to decide on the various finish details that come up in the course of laying out a stone floor and integrating it with the flooring in the connecting rooms. The work place was kept tidy and the job was completed on time and on budget as promised. John and his team took the time to do the job right and it really shows in the fit and finish of the final results - the floors and back splash look terrific!
