He was very professional and very good and listening to our requests.
There was no service performed, just the quote. If the price was more to our liking we would have gone with him. It was 3x what we were expecting to pay.
Custom Craft Woodworks also designed and built a custom shelf for my son's bedroom which looks terrific. Mark is a true craftsman.
The final result is awesome. Will be using them again and highly recommended.
A MAJOR problem presented to Mark was a poorly constructed support wall that juts out from the main wall about a foot and a half - its a dividing area (line) for the library and is there (along with another wall on the other side of the room that is straight) for a major support beam of the roof trusses. One of the bookcase's side would rest against this curved, poorly finished wall. The wall is suppose to be straight but turned out to be curved, and it is noticeable to the naked eye. We were forced into accepting this curved wall due to the awful finish work done by a previous contractor who built the wall - it was to late to fix it due to the considerable expense required to tear it down and do it again. We did explore the internal work and found that construction was ok but the wall board and studs curved up to the 18 foot ceiling. Now back to Mark - who cut into the wall board and literally fitted the bookcase into the wall. Mark fixed the look of the wall and the bookcase to make it look straight. We could not be happier. All the bottom mop board molding was fitted and looked built in as well.
You should be confident and happy in your result if you hire him to do your work.
We will use Mark again for cabinet work.
His followup and communication were excellent....and, we have an awesome table. I sent him a pic of what we wanted and he built it perfectly.
Overall a great experience. We will be calling him for our next project!
Would highly recommend Mark - he has a ton of experience and is highly skilled. You won't regret the investment in your home!
We heard about Custom Craft Woodworks through a friend and contacted Mark for a consultation. We had a good feeling based on our initial convo so made arrangements for him to meet us at the house within the week. When he came out, we expected him to just take the measurements and my magazine clippings and head off to the next appointment. So when he took the time to get a feel for our style and wanted to know more about the intended use for the piece so he could make detail, material, and finish recommendations, we were really impressed.
Within a couple days, Mark came back to us with a rendering of the things we discussed and an estimate of cost. My jaw hit the floor when his email came through. I was expecting a dollar figure twice what was quoted! I immediately agreed and we discussed timeframe for delivery. Mark contacted me with updates throughout the building process and delivered right on time.
The craftsmanship on this piece is incredible. It is made entirely of solid oak, weighs a ton, and is my most favorite thing in the home. We bought all new premium brand name furniture when we moved into the new house. But it is all a little crappy compared to Mark's work. You know the common complaint about things not being made today like they once were? Not the case with Mark. It is one of the first things people notice when they walk into our home and we get the most compliments on it. I brag that it was made with old world mastery. Which is something that is missing in our mostly disposable society.
