They were really good. I'm expecting them to come back. They have some sort of plan, I pay $15 a month. So I guess it's prepaid, so I don't try to come up with a large amount at once. I do think that good workmanship, honest work and trustworthiness are some of the best things people can have. If you find someone, you're lucky.

The installation was okay, but I could not reach them for warranty work. It took a long time and they never followed up on having the installation inspected by the city so I would never do business with them again. I had heard about them on the radio. I never have any problems with the products, it is just the company; they did not seem to match up to the reviews I had heard. My overall grade is based on their customer service. I was pretty satisfied with their prices, although I never really talked to anybody else. When they did do the installation I had to leave my daughter home because I was trying to get the money from the bank and go out. They explained nothing. They did their thing and left and hung out to get their money. I talked to their office to make the money transaction, but there are things they left out and they did not explain the system or anything.

Wow, These guys are a joke.
Did a horrible job, to top it off they did not move my drip pan back under my AC. I had to find this out when my ceiling started leaking! They then reluctantly sent out a QUACK painter that could only come at 830 PM, He painted the ceiling the wrong color, it was so off. He painted the white ceiling TAN!!  They left food trash in the attic along with trash from the packing materials.
I would never us them again.

Installation went well. However, on 11/17/11 called for Service. Tech (Robert I.) came out to clean coils and drain and apply Stop Leak. He said this service would cost $230.00 and told me if I purchased a Service Agreement for $227, I would get a discount on the current charges as well as all future service charges.
Prior to June 2012, I received a letter from the owner of Crums Climate Control stating that they closed their doors in December 2011. He also states he and his son wiould personally handled any Warranty needs as per the Crum's Agreement, as long as the unit has been properly maintained.  He offered to perform the tune up for a maintenance fee of $89.00.
I called the cell # listed and spoke to Karen.  She said she will call in November concerning a new Service Contract with Mr. Wong that will cost $119.40 per year, and will be due November 2012.
On June 21, 2012 (not quite 2 years after installation), the A/C stopped working. I called Karen again and she made an appointment  for someone from Complete Air Mechanical to come out.  On this same date, 2 reps (Tony & Bob) came out to assess the problem.  They told me Mr. Wong claimed bankruptcy and left town, and that most of their service calls are from Crums Climate Control customers.  They charged a service call fee of $65.00.
On June 22, 2012, a tech came out to fix the unit at a cost of $1600.00!

As described above, the outdoor unit was turned the wrong way. It was changed and corrected  after a single call. That team  consisted of one tech and one helper. The tech was very good. He also corrected a problem with the installation that had not even appeared to me yet. He remarker about the heat exchanger installation. It looks like h***. The install crew told me that the code required that. Two neighbors have had heat pump replacements and theirs does not have that tacky look. It looks like a big bandage wrapped around it. The York website or the York sales brochure did not show that kind of install on the air handler..  During the initial install I had asked to have the old copper saved for a friend.  When the tech come out to do it right, his helper did gather up the 40 feet or so of the old copper lines that were in the yard for the friend. He did have to wander out of his way to pick it up. It was not worth complaining about but very disappointing..I also had a problem with a whistle when the fan was running. The GM did try to arrange to have that fixed. The carpenter came out twice and did what he could. I had a broken foot at that time so I could not help. When my foot healed I was able to diagnose the problem and I did repair the whistle noise.    About mid December I received a call from Crums asking if they could come out and to a pre inspection before the county was called to inspect the job. I said we were having visitors over the holidays so could not do that. I also asked that they return the old thermostat that they swapped out for a new, lower cost model. My old thermostat was less than a year old and it was fully programmable. The one they installed was a lesser model. She was suprised at my list of unfinished items. She set a repair / pre inspection date of the first workday of the new year.  Never called or came knocking on our door. I called the next day after they were to have been here. They could not find the work order and the woman who I spoke with in December was busy and could not come to the phone just then. She was to call me back asap. Never happened. I called again to speak to somebody about the issues and schedule the inspection. Again, nobody could help me and she was not there at the moment..   I have never heard from them again . Jan  2010 and it is now June 2012. The county inspection was never done.

The gentlemen that came out for the installation were professional, clean and hard working. They were neat considering the messy job being performed. They were here for 10 or 12 hours and made sure everything was picked up and discarded from the old unit. They offered a ten year warranty on the installation and if anything was done wrong on their part, they repair it for free. After the installation they didn't pull the permits correctly which could have caused me to get in serious trouble. It took me a long time and lots of phone calls to get them to handle the permit situation. The city came out for an inspection and the company failed to file a notice of commencement so the job wasn't considered complete until they fixed the permit issue. I found on the city's website that the city wasn't allowed to issue permits to Crum's because they were incompetent and didn't follow city guidelines. The permit fees had to be paid twice because of the issue. I wouldn't use them for major work again.

The mini split is kind of an unusual system in that it is not a standard unit because my roof is low and they can't put ductwork in. They run the lines outside using pipes. Each room has its own computerized system. They had people out here putting in the system that had no idea what they were doing. It took them three days to put the system in and I wondered what they were doing. The thing broke down after about a week. I had no air conditioning and I live in Florida. I called them and said I needed someone to come out and fix it and they said they would try to squeeze me in. It took them 10 days to get somebody out here to fix it. My temperature was a lot higher than the temperature in the house by the time they got out there. They have one man that their entire company that knows how to work on these things and has the proper tools. Why the heck he was not out here installing it in the first place I will never know. So he came out and worked on it and got it going. Within about 5 days it broke again. It had a Freon leak the first time. The second time I called them up and complained again and was again told they would try to squeeze me in. Same thing; it took 5 days before the same guy came out again. He didn't believe them. What it turned out to be was these guys that were putting it in didn't know what they were doing and they were fouling up the parts as they were putting it in and they were stripping the flanges and everything else as they were putting it in and ripping the innards apart so that the Freon was having a field day escaping so that every time I turned it on the Freon would escape. So after the second time the guy showed me the places where they had torn it apart and what they had broken installing it. The second time he said he thought he got all the places fixed and indicated that it should not break again. He told me there was a mass firing at Crum's and they were trying to get everything straightened out. It has been working fine ever since but I would sure hesitate to recommend them to anybody. Crum's acted like they couldn't care less and acted like I was just jerking their chain when I tried to get somebody out here to work on it. The lady I spoke with kind of dismissed my concern but another one was good. They did not bend over backwards to help me out and I will not use them again in the future.

When we moved into our house 3 years ago it was much bigger than our las house and we expected higher utility bills but our electric bills were ridiculously expensive. My husband and I had an inspection before we bought our home so we assumed based on that the higher bills just came with the territory and that the air conditioner was fine. Then in February the motor on our AC unit went bad so we got a few quotes and decided to replace the AC unit instead of fixing the old one since it was now 12 years old. We went with Crums Climate Control because they seemed very upfront and knowlegable and had a great price as well. Let's be honest no one is excited to have an expense like replacing an AC unit. The sales guy (Dan I think) was prompt, answered all of our questions and set up the installation date quickly for us. However, the best wqas yet to come. "Lucky" as luck would have was the guy that came to intall the new AC and I think he was just that! We have gotten 2 electric bills since our new York unit was installed and it was like someone had given me a present each time I opened the bill. Our electric bills have gone from ranging from $400-$550 bills to $245-$300. I can't believe it wasn't just teh bigger house all that time. I whish we would have done this sooner and feel so much better about the replacment expense now that I feel it was all worth it! Great experience overall and I would recommend Crums Climate Control to anyone!

We were very happy with the people who worked on site and we were happy with the installation. The product appears to be just fine. Follow up on their part is where we had an issue; we had to invest a lot of our time and energy to get them to correct some issues. They corrected the problems but the process was frustrating.
Response from Crum's Climate Control
"I am so sorry we have not followed up as quickly or efficiently as we may have. You should not have had to make a large investment of time or energy to have any issue corrected. Please contact the office and ask for Karen, I would love to ensure that you always receive the kind of quality service you deserve."

Crum would make apppointments and then call back with different dates and times and insisted on charges merely to respond and look at the machine. They refused to accommodate me for any of my complaints or admit responsibility for any malfunctions. I took them to small claims court and on Mar. , 2011 was awarded $3778 judgement against Crum. Case #2010-SC-007340-0, Orange County, FL. My complaint to the FL. Dept. of Business Professional Regulation resulted in a finding that probable cause existed to file a case against Crum. That notice was given Feb. 4, 2011, case #2010-025361

They set up a Saturday morning appointment for me so that I wouldn't have to miss work. The first appointment didn't work out as their technician got sick and couldn't come. But they immediately set me up for the next weekend. They came at about 8:50 am and were done by about 11:30 am. They rewrapped my ducts in the ceiling, resealed the plenum, and closed off the plenum from the attic (which was a challenge due to spacing without much opportunity for bracing). The only messy thing is around the AC unit in the closet with gobs of sealer on the other wires.

Crum distributed a flyer in a senior citizen gated community offering a drastic reduction in price to $1050 under certain conditions. I agreed to the program and selected their prominant brand, Trane A/C and within days qualified for the discount. Crum installed an Amana instead of the Trane I requested and denied I qualified for the discount program. From the first day the A/C did not provide cooling as per the thermostat setting. I overrode the pre-programmed settings and got better cooling but the temperature continued to rise as soon as the outdoor temperature climbed beyond 89 degrees. The Crum performance "guarantee" promised that if the temp varied by more than 3 degrees they would "make modifications, repairs or replacement at no charge" for a period of 5 years. Every time I complained they put me through a series of sneding a "tech" to "check it out", eventually suggesting a repair for which I was to be charged. Crum and I agreed to replacement, but then I received a work order indicating I would repay the original price for the replacement. Soon I was to discover Crum never called for a final inspection by Orange City. On June 1, 2010 a Crum employee arrived and posted a notice for a permit and and final city inspection claiming on the notice that the A/C was installed on March 10, 2010 (10 months after the actual date). On June 2, 2010, the A/C developed a leaky coil costing $658 to repair. I had offered Crum an opportunity to repair it but they wanted to charge me $89 to "check it out" and the cost of repairs as well. The repairman stated he found the A/C to have been manufactured in 2005 and I may have been sold a used A/C. When I complained to the Better Business Bureau, they sent me his response which included a "copy" of my contract which revealed a changed/added date which is not on my copy. I took Crum to small claims court prior to the breakdown and got a delay when Crum sent in an attorney so I moved to dismiss without prejudice so I could file an amended complaint and obtain an attorney. The State Of Florida Department of Business And Professional Regulation has agreed to open an investigation on the matter.

The work team was courteous, professional, and worked through issues without complaint. They arrived on time and finished by the end of the day. The unit worked fine in the first few months of light duty. When phoning the office for answers, the office staff were pleasant and effective. We have had 2 service calls and the annual inspection (included in original plan) this past year on the new unit. Service was timely and effective.

They are busy unlike other companies and they are also open to do custom cleaning, repair works. The person who came in to do the work was not that great with the platform work but was okay with the actual work by the end of the day. They did not come up well in the first place but they seemed flexible and open to new ideas, trying things. Their price was fair. They are pretty quick and I am impressed with their punctuality, I appreciate that. They are good overall.

It went terribly overall. It was so bad that they took 8 months JUST to be able to pass inspection. The A/C did not work well and our electric bill did not go down as promised with a more efficient system. We even had them clean the ducts to ensure no old debris would clog the new system. They must have sent out at least 10 repairmen to both "readjust" the system over and over again as well as try to get the basic workmanship up to the bare minimum of local county standards. Each repairman told the me the previous guy did not did it right and did not know what they were doing, including the installers. Main office customer service was even worse. Not until I threatened them after eight months of inability to pass inspection did they finally fix everything and be able to pass inspection. They did not return my calls and were unhelpful in every way possible. Then 6 months after inspection finally passed and 3 months past labor warranty, the blower failed, and I had to pay another $400 labor to have it replaced, by another company of course. I am convinced it was because of their faulty installation as the replacement for the new one was slightly different AGAIN with another set of settings. To top it all off, 18 months after install, I had the local electric company do a "home energy efficiency evaluation" and they discovered that EVERY duct entry point that had been cleaned had been dislodged from the base during their cleaning letting cool air into the attic. I was cooling the uninsulated attic also and did not know it, thus the reason why my electric bill stayed high!! You have not idea how angry I was!! No one should EVER... EVER... EVER use this company for anything!!! You are just throwing away your money!

So, this time-silly me-I bought a maintenance package. The service people were going to come out, and, at the same time, were going to make a repair. They were to arrive between 9-11 a.m. I ran out to do an errand, and when I got back at 8:30 there was a note that the team had been there at 8:15, and he couldn't come back that day because he had gone to another location. So, we rescheduled. I also pointed out one A/C wasn't working. So, in two days they sent out someone to fix the problem, and this man pointed out some standard maintenance parts that needed to be replaced. He made a note because he didn't have the part to fix the part. The maintenance people arrived around 10 days later, but they said the part that the mechanic was broken wasn't broken, so they wouldn't replace it. They did replace the same part on one of the two units. And, anyway, they didn't have two of that part. I called again. I got someone kind, and then someone else came to replace the part. I think there may have been more visits, but I was seeing these people more than I saw some of my good friends. The work done was of high quality, but the organization of the workforce is worthy of a cartoon.

They answered my questions very completely and carefully. The estimators that bid on the job were very friendly. The service techs arrived on time and did a complete installation (which included removing old equip and adding equipment and a new concrete slab). They worked with the electrical lines and cabinets and installed everything in 6.5 hours. They were very clean, reasonable and efficient. The house is 1800 square feet. They called me to ask if I would want the a/c they had installed the previous year cleaned & maintained. I made an appointment for 9 am, two weeks in advance, explaining that I would take time off work to meet them at my house. At 8:45 am they called to say they would be to my home at 11:00, at 10:45, they called to say it would be between 1-3:00, they later called to change the appointment to between 5-6:00. No apology, only "we're short handed today", with an attitude. They did service the a/c, telling me that it needed a "switch" replaced, which he didn't have on the truck. I rescheduled them to come back out saying I needed an early appointment for ANY day, but it had to be first thing in the morning. They scheduled it for 9 am , two days hence. At 8:45, I got a call to say they would be here between 11-2:00 --deja vu all over again! I canceled the appointment and my maintenance agreement. They have too many customers--I think we need to help them out with this problem.
