I have a 1999 Infinity with 250,000 miles on it.  It is an older car but I bought it new and have taken pretty good care of it.  Since I am fairly new to Orlando, I had to find a new mechanic I could trust. 

I found Chip Culpeppers Auto Service LLC on Angie’s List and it had an A rating so I took the car to Chip. 

His diagnosis was a dirty EGR valve costing $50 to clean.  The squeal was caused by a torn rubber axel boot throwing grease on the drive belts costing $45 to clean and adjust the belts.

 

Replacing the rubber boots was a third problem I was unaware of.  It did need fixing.  I don’t want to pay for new front end steering parts.  Thank you Chip for finding this issue.   The air bag error light could not be fixed because of the age of the car.  You have to find the Clock Spring part somewhere, maybe at a junk yard in order to do the repair.  OK I knew this was going to be a problem.   Anyway I was not too worried about the air bag.  So many of them are defective.  They can explode and harm the occupants of the car.   

After I got the car back the check engine light come back on about a week later.  Also I noticed when I rolled my windows down, the engine squeal was still there.

It turns out the squeal was caused by a worn harmonic balancer.  This is something you don’t want to ignore.  Fortunately another mechanic shop did the correct diagnosis, replaced the harmonic balancer and the squeal has disappeared.  Maybe some mechanics don't have a lot of experience with older cars and worn Harmonic Balancers.  I had never heard of a harmonic balancer.  The check engine light required a new costly EGR valve.  It is costly partly because it takes a lot of work just to get access to it.

Chip was very friendly.  The cost was very reasonable, however I was disappointed that his shop misdiagnosed the engine squeal and also tried to avoid the costly repair (over $200) to replace the EGR valve by just cleaning it. 

Good, it went well. I had to take my car back, base on what happens then I wouldn't change my score because there suppose to fix something they agree to work with, they were to fix something ended up still experiencing the same problem.

He told us that the engine replacement would take a week and he finished the job much earlier. The cost to replace the engine was significantly lower than the dealer's quote. My vehicle runs like a new truck thanks to Chip and his crew. They were very professional and courteous. Chip will get all of my future business! DLB

I had taken my car to 1/2 doz. other "referred" mechanics, spent hundreds of dollars at each one only to discover the mystery issue had not been fixed. Always, the mechanics promised they could locate the problem...eventually....if I replaced this and that and blah, blah, blah...and $$$.
Chip diagnosed the problem correctly..the first time...and fixed it for half of what I had spent at other mechanics.
I wanted to weep with relief when I drove away from his shop. And, they were all just the nicest group of guys.

They were very courteous and friendly. Very professional and it did not take long at all. They even took the time to sit in my car while I drove around about a noise I was hearing. I definitely will call them my mechanics from now on.

Chip and team understand the middle class worker. Don't go to the dealer and pay their rates. Chip double checked the check engine lights and found out my Mazda didn't have a costly fuel injector issue that the dealership "thought" it was. Rather it was an ignition coil problem saving me over $1000. Thanks Chip, Eric, and the Culpeper Automotive team!

What was replaced didn't solve problem. He tried other things including taking to another mechanic in area. He thought maybe computer in car needed to be reflashed so he took it to dealership. Dealer did not do that but replaced cables in throttle. When chip got car back it was worse than before. They continued working on and replacing several other things till he got it right. Not only did he take it to dealership and not just refer me, he paid for 3 day car rental and did not charge for the additional work to get it right.

What a pleasure it is to leave a car, get a call back to discuss what needs to be done and the price and not have to be concerned out the quality or timeliness of the repair. We have referred our pastor and several friends to is shop and will continue to do so!

Originally we took my son's 05 Nissan Maxima to Chip's for a transmission replacement. Chip diagnosed all of the problems with the car and recommended the repairs. The car was in bad shape when it arrived to the shop. It wasn't driveable at all. We were always kept in the loop with the status of the repairs. Every person that answered the phone was able to give me an update. They made sure everything was working properly before releasing the vehicle to us. Chip is great with a down to earth personality. He made us feel good about using his shop and the repairs. Chip Culpepper is my new repair shop and I recommend them.

I went in because both my brake lights were out.  Just stopped in.  They looked at my car very quickly.  Then I was told one was just loose and they replaced the other one.  Went to pay and I was told no charge.  I was confused, I was told they had the bulb don't worry about it.  It may have been a small thing, but for a disabled person who would not have been able to do it on there own it was huge.  I thanked them and told them I will be back in the future.

Chip got the "check engine" light code. Found a vacuum hose was not connected upon inspection of car. I had had that light on for over 4 months. Other mechanic tried to fix it, and performed other services, but Chip found the problem in less than an hour!  He rebuilt a transmission for me last October, and I'll always trust his judgement from now on!  I tried a new mechanic because he was closer to where I live...but I won't make that mistake again!

My Jeep runs likes new even though it is 13 years old.  Thanks Chip!

These guys are the absolute best.. They could have done a bunch of crazy stuff that added up more money for them but they are good, honest and professional mechanics. They did a thorough check and flushed everything. Then said they couldn't find the leak but to bring it back the next time the freon runs out. They're angels.
