Would choose to business with the company again if I ever need auto keys again. Highly recommended.
After searching/comparing companies on Angie's List, I decided to try using Advance Auto Locksmith in downtown Orlando. They have THE BEST reviews I could find out of over a dozen highly rated locksmiths in the greater Orlando area.
This was the best decision I've made when it comes to choosing a service provider!!! I drove to his business, told him what problems I was experiencing and he looked over my key fob. Almost immediately after taking apart the fob and looking at it he said he was almost positive he knew what the problem was and how to fix it. He showed me and explained what was broken and how he would fix it.
The business is easy to find, the woman who answers the phone as well as the owner who I dealt with are both very friendly and professional! You can tell when you meet the owner (by his demeanor and the way he behaves that he is upfront, honest, and really knows his stuff). I will definitely not only use this business again but will refer anyone and everyone to this company!!!
A+ Advance Auto Locksmith! Thank You for fixing my key fob and for your honest, fair pricing and professionalism!
For over a month I have been having intermittent problems getting my key out of the ignition when the car stopped. I own a 2006 Cadillac CTS. I took it to 2 dealerships here in Orlando and both told me things entirely different - both costing over $1,500. I called Advanced on Saturday when I went out and the car was dead from the battery. This morning they sent someone out to give me a jump. I took it to the shop. Darren worked on it himself. He diagnosed the problem. It was a sensor. He fixed the problem -- this is while he was trying to answer the phone and run the office also. He also made me a new key and programmed it for me. He was courteous, patient, and a real gentleman. He only charged me $40.00!
I've had a problem where my ignition cylinder would not always turn in my 2000 Camry.
Darren changed out the tumblers in the ignition lock and also supplied two new keys (used existing computer chips in the keys).
The Toyota dealer wanted close to $1,200.00 for the repair (new lock an keys), Darran fixed the ignition switch and provided two new keys because the existing keys were badly worn. This repair did not at all effect the door locks, same keying., just new ones.
Saved a ton of money, $120.00 with Darren, $1,200.00 at dealer.
I got tired of this and consulted Angies list for auto locksmiths. AdvanceAutoLocksmith was highly recommended so I called them.
I spoke to Darran who told immediately asked me if I had lost my remote. I told him no and that it just stopped working.
Darran told me it was probably the battery. I asked if I could come down right away and he agreed. Bottom line, Darran put a new $5 battery in almost as soon as I arrived and it worked great.
No more manual unlocking.
Thanks Darran.
I took it to the shop at 10 am, and they were able to get to me in about 45 minutes. First, another technician tried to program the remote unsuccessfully, allow the computer and the car's responses indicated that everything was working. They tried programming an OEM remote, too, with the same result. The owner, Darran, gave me the right replacement part #'s to look for, and the name and number of a salvage yard he trusted.
Despite the fact that 3 different technicians spent at least 1.5 hours combined working on it, they charged me nothing. They were professional, courteous, and explained everything they were doing clearly. Excellent service, despite the lack of success.
The shop is run by a really decent British fellow, who seems to live for the challenge of opening things that no one else can open. He looked at this situation and seemed a little stymied for a while. He tried a number of different approaches, and finally figured out a way to poke something through an impossibly small space in the backseat to trip the release. Once inside the trunk from the backseat side, he was able to release the frozen latch and replace it with one they had on hand. It was pretty fascinating to watch him work it all out.
When the bill came, it was nowhere near as big as I'd feared it would be, and I was glad to pay it to be able to have taillights and use my trunk again. This is the second time they've done good work for me (first time was an ignition cylinder replacement in the same car). They're honest, quick, and not out to gouge anyone. Nice people. I'll use them every time I have a need.
