Personal medical emergency pendant or wristband for those who live alone or for seniors. Reaches 9000 square feet from base unit which MUST be connected to a landline telephone. Emergency button is for medical, fire or police assistance but also to contact family or friends in case law enforcement/fire and rescue not necessarily needed. Lock box available for an additional fee for use in case officials are unable to gain access to the residence, thus preventing property damage.

I had the home medical alert for 1.5 years. I decided to pay more for the kind of pendant that would call them when there was an elevation change (like falling). Occasionally when I turned over in bed it would go off because it fell 3 inches. That didn't bother me because I thought it was just very sensitive, a week ago I fell in my kitchen and fell on the back of my head. I didn't pass out and the 'fall detection' NEVER WENT OFF. I of course called and they sent me a box to return it. My suggestion is do not make my same mistake.

Had ADT home security monitoring via phone land-line provided by ADT for approximately 15 years. About 2 years ago I asked ADT to upgrade the system to use wireless cell phone technology to link back to the monitoring system. Instead of replacing the old 20 year old control panel ADT just jerry-rigged a combination of other boxes (wireless router, etc) to the old control box. The end result was a wall full of boxes interconnected together that looked really bad. When I called the customer center to cancel the service since I was relocating out of state I got the go-around treatment from one person to another until I finally got a person that was very rude from the beginning and threatening that termination of service would be received with a huge termination bill. All of this for a system that should had never be installed to begin with. what was clear was that ADT only cared about making money anyway they can. The monthly service charge after the upgrade was almost $60 per month. Now in my new house  I have another provider that does not require a multi-year service contract, when the upgraded the old 20 year-old system they removed the old control box and replaced it with the latest technology hardware and it only costs me half of what ADT was charging. I will never use ADT ever again and will not recommend them to anybody.

We do not show any request for service to address any concerns associated with the installation and would've liked to address that prior to canceling the services. We show the rate associated with that contract was also $44.99. Due to the customer canceling before his 3 year contract was up, he was subject to valid early termination charges. I ordered a few system upgrades (I had a Brinks system and ADT bought them) to my existing system. The installer, mis-wired my system and caused it not to operate correctly which we did not discover until that night.  Even though they messed up my system, they did not go out of their way to book a corrective appointment at any of the times I was available .. as they were already booked.  So I agreed to a week later. I called to confirm the appointment, "Oh yes we have you scheduled". I took time off of work... and they never showed!!!   No call... just no show. So they break my system, that I paid them over $300 to expand... they don't make the repair a priority ... then they don't show on a confirmed appointment that I had to take time off of work.   I am looking for another Home Security company.

After getting the run around with their various sales people I finally was put through to a security specialist. She was emphatic that even though it is an existing system that is over 12 years old, I would need to sign a commitment contract for 36 months with an activation fee of $99.99. Given that the Angie's List Big Deal offers a brand new system for $49 I think this is extortionate. Needless to say I did not and will not sign up with ADT.

They came with some of the wrong equipment the first time and the tech was not able to integrate the correct equipment in a timely manner and told me that the equipment was not able to do what I wanted it to do. They returned a second time a month later again with the wrong equipment. At that point I told them I wanted a refund on the products that were not installed. I was told that the refund would take 3 to 5 business days. The refund never came and I followed up with them every week from October until January 1. Finally after threatening to discontinue service they mailed me a refund check. | |Their sales staff is professional, friendly, and knowledgable. | |The technical install team is polar opposite. | |The customer service team is professional, friendly and eager to help. Unfortunately it appears that they have their hands tied on several more advanced requests such as refunds. | |Based upon my experience I would not suggest ADT to friends and Family. They are the biggest and oldest in the business however my experience has made me look for alternative providers.

We wanted cameras inside and out as well as wanted them to be compatible with the system that was already installed and not have to replace everything.  It ended up being ADT that kind of set the bill on that one.  I'm a USA member so I got a cut right deal because of that.  What I liked about them was the quality of their materials and the knowledge of their staff.  They are not very punctual and they are very expensive.  They have what we need and definitely more than any other vendor that we talk today.  They definitely have the best solutions.  I think they are just in a bad job of staffing.  They told me when I was finally able to get them that they are such a back log right now for the service.

I have had an ADT system for about one and a half years.  I had requested that some changes be made to my system they were very quick to take the money however they were slow to complete the work.  After one month and 3 appointments they still had not completed the work with the proper equipment.  Finally on October 25th I asked them to cancel the unfinished changes which they did.  They owed me a balance of $500 which they told me would be deposited in to my account within 5 to 10 business days.  It is now December 31 and after 10 phone calls to ADT the money is still not in my account.  I still get the same story that it will be in my account in 5 to 10 business days.
I am very upset because the only people I can talk with are low level employees that are not able to help me.  They refuse to let me talk with any manager or anyone who can tell me why this has not been resolved.
I am canceling my account with ADT as soon as I find a new provider, and if my money is not returned to me I will have no choice but to pursue legal action.

A contract would not be a problem if the system worked; however that is not the case.  When I called to set up security I called ADT, my bill comes from ADT and the first time I had a problem ADT sent a tech over to fix which did't fix.  The next time I called to say that I was done and wanted to cancel is when ADT said SafeSTreet is who is holding your contract.  That was a surprise to me.  SafeSTreet said give us a chance to fix. So I took yet another day off of work, let you come out to fix it which did NOT fix it. Since July my alarm system if I turn it on goes off every hour.  I am not always available to pick up the phone so then I get charged by the police since they have had to make multiple trips to my house.  Since Oct 29, I can not turn it on because of the continued problem.  I now know why the cable companies advertise beware of companies with a contract.  I regret not going with my cable company since now I am paying for service, getting charged by the police and now can't use service that I am paying for.  Since I could not stop the automatic pay on their website, American Express put a merchant block on ADT from posting anymore charges on my account.  Do not use ADT!

Inspect the alarm system and determined a bad battery.  He installed a multi-year battery after doing numerous tests.  Also, reset other units and checked outside box for another request I had.

We had ADT service for our home from 2004/2005 to late 2010. Later we add their service to our business in mid 2010. We had everything installed for security as per the recommendations & specifications of ADT & had scheduled maintenance service too. In late 2010, when we were still with ADT, that is 2 1/2 months after we extended ADT services to our business, we had a major burglary @ around 1am in the morning at our business. The intruder took his own sweet time walking back & forth to his vehicle several times loading all the loot. The security monitors installed by ADT never picked up anything the whole time the theft was going on or after & the alarm never went off. Couple of hours after the burglary, a cop passing by noticed the broken door, found our numbers in the building & called us.  ADT HAD NO CLUE of what was going on until we arrived at the scene & called them for an explanation. They didn't have an answer, so they sent out their tech to determine the problem. Even he couldn't figure out what went wrong. We lost over $60,000/- worth of property & over $15,000 worth in property damage!! ADT washed their hands off this matter & took no responsibility. Just to check, if this incident was just an accident or if it was ADT's fault, we set off a false fire alarm at home, ADT never called. Then we set the alarm 'ON' & broke the doorway & window circuit, it didn't set off an alarm nor did ADT call.
ADT had missed calling us/notifying us a handful of times before too, when we had accidentally opened the door/window when the alarm was activated....the alarm would go off at home but ADT would not received the signal every single time & hadn't called to check on us every single time & the maintenance tech hadn't found any fault in the devices either. We didn't think of it as a big deal considering for example 7 times out of the 10 times they should have actually called. But it was a big deal when things went awfully wrong!!
When we wanted to cancel their service, they sent us a bill of $1000/- for terminating the contract before the contract period ended. That was the icing on the cake!!! We couldn't sue them because my lawyer couldn't find any loop holes in their contract. ADT is not there when you really need them. There is no point in paying them for no service.  I will never ever trust my life & family with such a crappy service & irresponsible company.  Stay away from ADT!! Don't fall for a company just because they are popular or just because you see their advertisement on TV a 100 times. I did & I have learnt it the hard way.
We have switched to 'Alarm Specialist' from late 2010 & have been very happy with their service so far.

We asked to speak with a supervisor today since no one has bother to return our calls, they say "they will send it research" and we never hear from them.  When I called the day before they said they would "send it to research" and record the notes on our screen.  Whe I called today theydid not have any information on my previous calls. 
After having the sercie for 20 years I am ot looking for another provider since  I now have no confidence in their service they provide let alone in mysecurity..

They did a great job getting everything installed and testing to make sure it worked perfectly. The install was done well but what I am most impressed with is their security monitoring. Whenever I called them they were always prompt and new exactly what the issue going on inside my home was.
Recently when I was away from home for work my wife left the front door improperly closed and it blew open at 5:00AM setting the alarm off. My wife got up and saw the front door open and thought someone had broken in and was in the house. She exited the house in a hurry with her cell phone. ADT called her instantly walked through the issue with her calmly and had the police on site with in minutes.
Top notch professionals and great service. The monthly fee is a bit more than a local company but I'd pay twice as much for the comfort of knowing they are doing the job correctly.
