The technician is fine, he is friendly, informative. He has fixed it one time before but it did not work because it did the same thing. Today the problem was addressed, he reprogrammed it. He disconnected it and opened the panel to reconnect and reprogram the chair. It is functional now. Hopefully the problem is solved.

I tried to contact several other vendors with little luck. ACORN responded promptly and did exactly what they promoised.

It took four hours and they did a good job. I haven't had any trouble with the chairs. They are also courteous.

We contacted Acorn and Mark Stroback, he said we needed to have the original lift removed. He asked my mother not to sign the order form until we had the prescription for my mother's stairlift. He took measurements and wood to build a bottom stair that he said was needed for the lift. He would ask for a deposit after the bottom was put in and the prescription was filled. To save money for the removal we had a friend remove it our old lift. Shortly after, another person from Acorn called and asked if we were ready to go through with the installation. We said we were ready to go and they said they would send someone out there to install the lift.
On March 1, 2012 they called and informed us that they couldn’t do our project and did not give a reason. They just said, we're sorry we can't help. Even after my mother offered to pay the full price they still wouldn’t install the lift. We think he may have realized the step he wanted to build wouldn’t conform or he wouldn’t have made any money off our project and that’s why he back out on us. I don’t agree with the way this company treated my mother. It was terrible and very upsetting to myself and my mother. We just want to let others be aware of this so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

After extensive research on residential Stairlifts, we decided that the best value was with Acorn Stairlift. We even took advantage of an online sale to obtain additional savings which really helped because we needed 2 of them, of different dimensions, for a new home. Rather than waiting for the moments when we wished we had a good way for family and guests to visit our home and to enjoy each floor thoroughly, we decided upfront to have stairlifts installed that were sufficiently tasteful in appearance that we wouldn't consider them obnoxious. Clearly, though, our concern was that we wanted ones that would hold up to 250 lbs. and could work independently in the event of power outages. Acorn Stairlifts happened to be an excellent choice for us! We worked by phone and email with representatives in their Florida office although we live in the Midwest. They assured us that they have trained technicians in all regions who install for them and our installer came from Toledo, OH. To install 2 stairlifts of the significant lengths that we had required almost an entire workday but he was most efficient and independent, not needing help from anyone else. He even scheduled his work for a Saturday which was very advantageous for our needs! We think these Stairlifts will soon become standard options for new home owners; just think of all the baby-boomers with arthritis, hip surgeries, twisted ankles, heart conditions, and dizziness. I know that most people think of stairlifts as being a medical device for the elderly--indeed they can be! But trust me, we're not elderly and have had multiple occasions with plantars fascitis, unexpected surgery, and even a grandchild with Cerebral Palsy for whom residential stairlifts open the door to mobility and freedom. We were very pleased with the quality of the stairlifts, their appearance, the installation, and the fair pricing we took advantage of from internet sales and multiple stairlift purchases concurrently.
