Our experience was disasterous!! One day we wondered into Fairfield Farms Landscape Design CO. We inquired about a reliable and experienced landscape designer/installer. John Booker, the owner, gave us Jim Alexander's name who works out of the Fairfield Farms design office. Jim stopped by our house and we talked about our landscaping problems and potential solutions. We met with Jim again a few days later to see the design he had put together for us. The first red flag should have been that he had completely forgotten what we wanted and had designed the landscape contradictory to what we had discussed. We repeated our likes and dislikes and he drove us around the nursery to pick the types of plants we wanted included in the design. We met again a few days later to see the second version of his design. We gave him one half of the price of the work as down payment. He showed up with John Booker and another person on the agreed upon date to do the work. When my husband and I got home that afternoon, we were shocked: None of the plants he had shown us before as being incorporated into the design was there. Instead he had 6 small Purslane (which are also known as edible weed) and 5 3-gallong crotons spread across two flower beds. Our house is a new two-story 3000 sqft house. These little purlanes and crotons were completely lost in front of the tall building! There was really no design-- Everything was very arbitrarily placed. The Norfolk pine was there ($200 for a 15 gallon tree) and the mulch was new. That was about all we could see to be different. Also, he had charged us for 2 3-gallon Purple Fountain Grass which was not needed as we had about 14 of them already. Instead, he removed the 14 fountain grass and took them with him without giving us credit for it (over $100 worth of fountain grass according to his prices). He also charged us for a yard of top grade soil ($114), but we never saw any evidence of top soil. My husband and I were so unhappy with Jim's work that we decided to take out his few purslanes and crotons. We went out and purchased another $700 worth of plants from Home Depot and spent a couple of weekends re-planting our yard. The following week we told Jim that we had to redo his design since we didn't like his work. He came back and planted a few other plants and moved around some others and charged us another $200 !!! ...And we were trusting enough to pay him!!! The story goes on...We had signed an agreement with Jim to do a quarterly weeding and fertilizing of our flower beds/trees for $200 per quarter. Well, he never showed up! We contacted him several times through phone and email to see if we could get credit for the purple fountain grass he took from us and the two he charged us for, to no avail. From July 2008 until January 2009 we never saw Jim Alexander of Fairfield Farms Landscape Design Co. Finally, in January 2009 I contacted the owner of Fairfield Farms (John Booker) to come to a resolution w/ no results.
Description of Work: In July 2008 my husband and I hired Jim Alexander of Fairfield Farms Landscape Design CO., LLC to re-landscape our front yard. In the first phase he was to: Remove crotons (which were getting too much sun) and amend beds to insure new plant health; Plant new plants; Re-contour bed to prevent runoff and replace pine mulch with cypress multch; Install a Norfolk Pine (Amend soil before installation). **Please DO NOT hire this company or it's recommended landscape designer (i.e. Jim Alexander )** **They are expensive, unreliable and dishonest.**
