Air Doctor (Owner) 2 months ago I am requesting that this review be removed as it is not true. We did install this AC unit on 3/9/2020. As such it is still covered under the manufacturer’s parts warranty. While we have done several maintenance visits it was not until 3/16/2022 that we found the unit has a coil sensor fault. We reset the fault and ordered the part to repair. When we returned to install the parts, the customer refused the repair and said the unit was fine. The customer called and said the unit was down again. We order the parts again and scheduled the repair for May 20th. On the day we had an appointment to install the parts a man called from the customers home saying he was her lawyer. He demanded that we send her $2000 for installing a defective unit and that the manufacturer had been out 4 times from Miami to inspect it. The manufacturer would not come from Miami they would send the local tech rep along with a representative from Air Doctor. When we asked for the reports to explain what was wrong the caller refused. When we told him we had the parts and they were on the schedule for that same day he refused the repair once again. [*** Link removed ***] › companylist Air Doctor Air Conditioning & Heating Reviews - Oldsmar, FL - Please save yourself and do not use this company. I didn't do the research on them and I'm kicking myself now. They installed a new HVAC system for me two years ago. I had them out recently as the system shut down. The first tech ran in and out in maybe 10 minutes. I could tell it wasn't running correctly, so I called back and had the absolute pleasure of speaking with the owner. I am in customer service and was absolutely appalled at how unprofessional she was. A 2nd tech was sent out, who confirmed the first tech didn't do what they should have. I then called to cancel the maintenance plan I had already paid for (unused), and request even a partial refund on the overtime fees I had paid . They then adjusted the invoice and didn't even provide the full refund for the maintenance plan.I had paid $155 for maintenance plan and received a $30 refund, when no maintenance was performed. Now a new company is pointing out other very costly issues that they would have been fully aware of at install. Check out the comments on Better Business Bureau and other sites as well. Seriously, RUN.

Poorly performed. Refused to give report immediately after inspection. Work performed on 7/15/22 8:30am, didn’t get report until 4 days later with more than 3 calls. Jim, the owner was not honorable with promised; scheduler Desire in office had a careless attitude; Sunny the technician said our ACs already 21 years old but lifespan from manufacture was 12-15 years only. However, to keep his job, he needs to recommend REPAIR after REPAIR, instead of replacing new unit to Home Warranty company. No photos provided by inspection, no manufacture name of AC mentioned in report. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

We needed to replace our 15 year old system that was having frequent problems including mold/mildew inside and was not efficient. Air Doctor provided a good system at an excellent price and financing. They installed the system with a few days. The installation crew arrived as scheduled and did a great job removing the old system and installing the new system. An Air Doctor technician did a follow up check on the new system and found the air flow was not enough for the new system. Air Doctor returned and installed a new intake vent as part of the installation with no extra charge. We also had a U/V light installed to help prevent any growth in the new system. The Air Doctor technician who installed the U/V light also showed up on time and did a quick installation. Overall, we are very happy with the new system and appreciate Air Doctor's great service in getting the installation quickly and professionally.

Tech came to our home, opened up our AC unit and said the unit needed to be changed. We said we would think about it and tech left. Later in the evening we noticed that tech left the entire unit open and unit parts laying all over the floor. Company later called us offering new AC units for sale. All overpriced. Ended up using another company which offered better quality AC units and 25% lower price. Also, phone rep is very unpolite.

The removal and installation of the new unit was done in one day. However, there were various little things that needed to be done that they ran out of time. We had to wait three business days (and over a weekend) to get these minor issues resolved. Then it took almost a month to get the final inspection passed and closed. The initial contract called for full payment upon installation. We finally settled on 10% hold back, though I would have preferred 20%. However, I am quite happy with the job. They even replaced a breaker without additional charge as it was required to pass inspection. I will use these folks again.

Did not complete the contracted repairs. After numerous calls to them and no response but a lot of run around, I used another company.
Response from Air Doctor Air Conditioning & Heating

"This job was done on 08/13/2013. The date shown here of 10/18/2017 is incorrect. Our phones are answered from 8 -4 weekdays and messages answered the rest of the time. I do not know why this customer could not get through. One of the benefits of the home warranty is that you can always call them directly to find out status. Compressors are normally purchased by the home warranty company and delivered to us for replacement. Some times this can take several days to a week. The good news is it saves the customer around $1500 deending on the compressor."

3 weeks and returned to my driveway unrepaired. AHC had to call Air Dtr and tell them to return air handler OR theft report would be filed with Oldsmar police. Stay away from this FL HVAC fee monster. NO CONCERN WITH CUSTOMER FOR 3 WEEKS WITHOUT AC ON 3D FLOOR IN AUG IN FL!!
Response from Air Doctor Air Conditioning & Heating

"Sorry for the problems this customer experienced last year with his service. We were called to service this customer by his home warranty company on Aug 18th of 2016. We responded and found that the unit was low on R-22 Freon due to a leak in the evaporator coil. The coil needed to be removed and repaired then reinstalled with 7 lbs of R-22 refrigerant. Since it was late in the day the customer said he would like to schedule this work for early the next week. We scheduled to do the work on 8/26. We had many appointments available before that but this was when the customer could be available. Customer was not available for this appointment and in fact made many other appointments that he would change leading up to us finally removing the evaporator coil on 9/6/2016. The customer told us that he would not pay for the R-22 refrigerant. Since his home warranty company contract clearly states that they only pay $10 per pound and R-22 refrigerant is $90 per pound it is his responsibility. $90 per pound is fair market price for this product which is very scarce as it is being phased out and production will be discontinued in 2020. Finally we were instructed to return the coil to Mr. [Member Name Removed] unrepaired by the home warranty company, There was never any issue of a theft report being issued. The coil was returned on 9/14/2016 8 days after it had been removed. While we try to provide great service to customers sent to us from a home warranty company we do have to follow guidelines of the warranty and must collect from the customer fees for costs not covered."

He was able to get us a rebate from the gas company and also money back from American Home Shield. There were a few times it was hard to reach them, but for the most part they showed up on time and were very neat and clean. They explained what they were doing and did a good job.

Not well. The service rep was a crook telling us we had bad mold growing in our unit and he just happened to have a picture and promo material on a unit to kill mold for only $1,300! Just happened to have one left on the truck. Tracked dirt all over the carpet and made changes to our drain we didn't want without asking. This guy was a true con man. I called and told the lady who sets appointments and she said please call the owner and gave me his number. Left a message for the owner but never got a return call. I'm left to assume this behavior is okay with him. We got a new company to service our unit going forward. Would not use Air Doctor again.

Air Doctor was assigned to me by AHS when my A/C stopped working. Beyond the initial callback, all communications were initiated by me. I had to call the warranty company to find out the contractor's status. It took over a week to find out my unit couldn't be repaired, then another week to get the work done because they have only a single installation crew. I spent two weeks in Florida in August with no A/C, but this is the penalty you pay for your home warranty; lower cost, but no control over the situation. When the day we'd been waiting for finally arrived, the installation crew did a great job. They replaced my old 2-ton unit with a shiny new 3-ton Carrier unit. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality brand! They completed the work in about four hours and left the entire area clean and tidy. So in the end we were pleased with the work performed, but were very dissatisfied with the overall lack of communication. A one-minute phone call each day with a quick status update (even if there was no change in status!) would go a long way.

Stay away from this company. In two meetings with Jake, he suggested a portable room AC unit because my dog is old. He said there would be two men on the job, that it would take several hours, and included a UV light. Little was done by first tech at 9:30 am, second tech arrived after noon, first tech left immediately. The one installer worked in direct sunlight on the second story of my condo, doing both the inside and outside work. The job took ten hours and I was concerned for him. The portable unit sat outside my condo door, never hooked up. The railing around the outside unit was discarded without my knowledge. I spoke with the owner, Jim, on Thursday, August 11th about my concerns and he never followed up. I emailed on Monday, August 15th. No response. I spoke with Sally on Wednesday, August 17th, who said Jim was unavailable and Jake would call. Never happened. Air Doctor is in breach of contract as contract states UV light, yet there is no UV light and now there is no railing on the balcony. Try Burgess. Slightly more expensive but anyone has to be more professional than Air Doctor. "F" for Fail.

I called today because my AC had no power. The service manager diagnosed it over the phone as a plugged drain line . The tech arrived, cleared the line and started the unit he was here approx 1/2 hour and charged $215.00 !!!!!!! I guess this is easier than robbing banks This is the same company who installed my unit and gave me the wrong thermostat, I spoke with the service manager who asked me to IM him a picture of my thermostat and said he would get back to me, He never called back

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!. Bad customer service and untrustworthy. They came 3 times to my house and did nothing. The first Tech was very dismissive when my wife was talking to him. The last Tech to come said he was not able to fix the AC and I needed a new one. He even gave me a quote for a replacement but I insisted that he needed to go to the warranty company first. They were reluctant to do so and it took them a week with me calling them several times and the warranty company contacting them as well. When they final talked the to the warranty company, they told them that the AC was working!!!!. Over 3 weeks now without a working AC.

I had my normal AC maintenance company out and they diagnosed it but they are not part of American Home Shield's vendor network. AHS said I had to use their vendor and they set me up with Air Doctors. They were to come out that afternoon (Friday) between 1-5 pm. Never called, never showed up. Did not call or show up Saturday and did not call or show up Monday - not even to apologize or reschedule the appointment. No air for an entire weekend. Do not use this company.

This company was contracted through American Home Shield. This is hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with and I was in real estate for 7 years. They have made numerous no call no shows in the past few weeks just to raise my air handler and put an additional drip pan. They pulled their worker from my job to do an installation that brings in more money and this came from them and was confirmed through AHS ( American Home Shield ) which called them to find out why they didn't show up or called. It has been 1.5 months and the matter is still not resolved.

.I would never use this company again based just with there lack of or non existing customer service!!after waiting several days for someone to call me back, the sales manager Bob called and told me he would and could give me a break and charge me only $800 for a new compressor, that by the way is still under a 10 year warranty! when I did not want to pay this he told go fight with Goodman who made unit and none of this was his problem, when I got the owner on the phone he offered me a deal for $650-and then $550- saying that this was the warranty price! when I said I would just take a new compressor because parts are covered at 100% he refused to do that! My contract part is covered! not that I have to have him do the work.!  I HAVE TO SAY AGAIN THEY HAVE NOT EVEN GONE OUTSIDE TO LOOK OR EXAMINE AND OR INSPECT A/C UNIT. THEY ALSO HAVE GROSSLY OVERCHARGED ME AND MY FAMILY FOR AT LEAST 3 INSTALLS BASED ON MY RESEARCH! ANY HELP IN THIS MATTER WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU

My Mom has been using Air Doctor for many years. She has them out twice a year to maintain her HVAC. The same guy usually; he charges $35. The day I called them for her, the A/C had stopped working.  They offered to come out that same afternoon at a ridiculous upcharge. I said that the following day would be fine. The young man that showed up knew what it was right away (clogged drain line) and even told us that the Condo Association would suck the lines out for free. Then he proceeded to vacuum the line out, dumped some bleach in the drain and handed me a bill for $215. I was shocked! At least he had the decency to look embarrassed. At the very least, I should have been told what it was going to cost BEFORE the service was rendered. I certainly know how to turn on a shop vac and pour bleach in a drain. I would never have agreed to that price. Never.  I'm not even sure this was legal. My Mom was very upset but she wrote him a check. After the young man left, I called the office and asked to speak to someone about my bill and explained what the problem was. The guy said that was the correct price and that it reflected my condo association discount! Ridiculous!! This is just bad business and everyone I've spoken to agrees. We will never use them again, ever!

This installation was a nightmare for me.  It took over 21 days for Air Doctor to receive the part.  This was not all their fault because  the part was provided by my insurance carrier. However, nothing was conveyed to me until I contacted them. They should have been more proactive in trying to get the part. During/after installation of the part the system was not cleaned. The mold and mildew from sitting more than a month was not addressed at all. The staff was nice however, in my opinion better service could have been provided.
Response from Air Doctor Air Conditioning & Heating

"We were hired by your home warranty company (American home Shield) to diagnose and then subsequently repair the air conditioner. Once we relayed to them that it needed a compressor they buy it and deliver it to us. We have no control or influence over the availability of the part. We understand that this is very frustrating in the summer heat but it sure saves you money. As for mold forming in a non operating air conditioner this is not the case, When an ac is not operating no water is generated and therefore no mold forms."
