LLOYD'S PEST CONTROL

I scheduled a termite inspection as part of a refinance on my home. In the event you're not familiar, a VA loan requires a sign off from a termite company saying an inspection was performed and repairs completed (and paid for) if required. We bought the home just about 2 years ago and full termite remediation had been completed as part of that sale. Daniel Dahl performed the inspection. He located some minor termite damage in the back porch. He said we needed spot treatment of the wood in places where the damage was found. Fair enough. He also included a line item in the estimate to repair damaged wood with wood dough. The cost for this repair was listed as $1200. This price seemed pretty outrageous to me. You could hire a skilled carpenter for at least several days for this amount of money. The total estimate for minor wood damage: $1650. Although I was in a time crunch on the refi (a fact that I disclosed, perhaps unwisely, to the contractor), I knew I needed to get another estimate. I did...same findings, work completed by the other company for $350. As a woman, I often get estimates that are waaaay above market price for work, so it shouldn't surprise me. But I can't recommend this company at all as I feel that the estimate was an attempt to exploit the time-sensitive nature of the repair for an unwarranted amount of money.
