After getting the paperwork filed at the County Courthouse the same day (end of April, 2013) I gave them my check. They didn't start the project until the middle of July. I told them upfront that I needed it finished by July 15 because we had people coming and if they couldn't get it done, I needed to find someone else. They assured me it would be done. Jim DiMaina, the Sales Rep, on several occasions told me he would get me additional bids for the patio cover and deck...never happened, haven't heard from him since. When we ask about the keys to the screen room doors; there aren't any, you can only lock it from inside...What? We don't live there and wondered why a contractor would decide that I didn't need to lock it when the sales rep, Jim DiMaina, knew we were going to store our golf cart and sports car? He told the builders we wanted a bare-bones room. His bare-bones and the builders bare-bones and my bare-bones were all different. We just didn't need any electrical. I expected to be able to lock my doors when I left town. They didn't finish the project on time and they left my stairs outside the screen room and didn't say anything to us. A friend email us with pictures and I called BTC Builders and ask them why my stairs outside and not connected to my house? They told us they didn't fit any longer since they raised the platform. We told them they knew that they would have to be modified and that they had measured everything, not us. They were just going to leave it like that and not say anything to us! We told them if they had said something 3 weeks prior or 2 months prior, we would have paid for new stairs, but they didn't, so they had to modify our old stairs and get a new railing. I finally got my husband to call them and two weeks later, after my company was leaving, they fixed the stairs. I won't be able to use them in the future. The room turned out fine, but I had to be on them everyday for over 12 weeks (3 months). There was very little communication until Kim got involved. I am not sure what her position is, but she is the best one there! Go Kim.
Description of Work: In April, 2013, I commissioned BTC Builders to build a 25'x11' screen room on existing platform at our retirement community. They had to raise the cement platform and build heavy-duty screen room. The stairs w/railing to park model had to be lowered to accommodate the new floor height. We paid 1/2 of the cost upfront, and we ask that it be heavy-duty, no electricity, French doors that open in the front and door to the back. I was there in town for 8 weeks and nothing, so I had to leave back to Texas and asked if they would send me pictures and keep up updated as to when it would be finished.
