Angie's list has taken S&S off of their advertising for "non-payment" - I'm not surprised. S&S (Andrew Singleton) contracted our sprinkler work out to another person, and he did great work switching out our system and checking on us afterwards.  He's even called again this spring to see how things were going (and we happened to have a problem that he came out and fixed).  He was GREAT.   So, that's the part of the service that was done - if I could give that guy an A, I would... and I will if I find him here on Angie's List - but I don't want to connect him with S&S.  That's the only reason I graded it with a D overall, and not an F. However, I gave Andrew half of the cost that was to include the re-sod of a section of our yard, the backyard clean up and the irrigation system switch.  I never got a receipt or an invoice of the costs of these jobs.  Why did I trust him?  Because he'd done a re-sod on our lawn the year before, but because our sprinkler system broke, part of it died out.  It was great until the freeze and dry season killed it off.  So, I didn't have an issue - and if you look I have a previous review of S&S here on Angie's List.  Like I said, the sprinkler guy did his job, but after several weeks of stalling, and claiming that the sod wasn't ready, etc., Andrew eventually stopped answering my phone calls all together.  I estimate that the sprinkler guy got about $400 of the $800 I gave Andrew, so I'm out around $400.  I've even called him once since it warmed up this year to see if Andrew would make good on the deal, but I've still heard nothing.  I understand if he's having problems, and I've been very patient and kind in every voicemail I've left, and given him ample opportunity to make this right.  I'm tired of trying.  I've already had to spend more money to get the backyard cleaned up, and now we're at the point of no return to get the front yard re-done by someone else.  I obviously have learned a lesson here, and I'm sad and disappointed that Andrew let us down.  If he was having honest business problems, I wish he'd just been honest about it from the beginning.

Overall very pleased, although it took a couple of months from start to finish (several missed deadlines). S and S owner had a large scale project he was working on at the same time, so my work kept getting pushed back. I did say I was pretty flexible with my schedule, but it got a little out of hand how long I had to wait. Still, I give them an A because the prices were so reasonable, all the workers were so courteous and hard working, and there was an effort to keep working until I was satisfied. I do wish my backyard was a more level and flat like I requested (I think it had to do with the fact that my 5 palettes of sod were put in two at a time and then the last one, as opposed to installing them all at once), but the retaining wall they put in is so slick and they were all so professional and respectful, I still have to give an A overall. The work was done about 9 months ago, and I think they were planning on re-organizing how they schedule work, so maybe their timing issues have been worked out.

I selected S&S Landscaping because of Angie's List recommendations. I contracted with Andrew to remove old grass in front and back yard (approx 2,800 sq ft), remove some shrubbery and re-route some underground sprinklers in the back yard. Price was reasonable and the 2 man crew was prompt and did a good job removing shrubbery, re-routing sprinklers and removing old grass. Of the seven (7) new pallets of JaMur Zoyisa installed, one pallet contained questionable grass that looked dead. When questioned about this grass, Andrew stated that the grass was warrented for 30 days and if it did not recover from the shock of harvesting from the sod farm and replanting in my yard - he would replace it at no cost. Two weeks later Andrew did inspect the grass and stated that a representative from the sod grower would inspect and either "treat" the bad spots or replace the dead grass. Over the months of July and August, Andrew stated that the Soysia at the sod farm was not ready to "harvest". During September and now mid October I have spoken to Andrew at least 4-5 times and he promised to replace the dead sod multiple times. Still waiting as of October 15, 2010.

Andrew has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was very responsive to my NUMEROUS phone calls and showed up when he said he would. The work went very well and the end result far exceeded our expectations. I found Andrew to be very professional; the scope of the work changed a couple of times and Andrew was very flexible in dealing with the changes. During the chaos of the initial demolition of plant material and rentention wall a small metal trellis covered in wisteria vine disappeared. When I arrived for the final walk through with Andrew - there was a brand new trellis in the yard almost exactly like the one that was lost. That is going above and beyond. We have contracted with Andrew to do the monthly lawn maintenance.

Andrew was very responsive to inquires and requests. He quickly answered my calls. His team worked efficiently. He had to come back one more day to finish up. The turf and plants are doing quite well.

We met with Andrew, the owner of the company. He looked at the problem and listened to our concerns. He pointed out the problems. We talked about what we wanted. Andrew is highly accomplished and has great vision. He developed an awesome plan for our property. Our yard was resodded and as assortment of plants were put in. His selections for the plants were right on. They've grown heartily and look great. He put in a small tree, trimmed up all our other trees, cleared the cluttered backyard, repaired our retaining wall (this was huge!!) installed two retaining walls, one of which he referred to as a castle wall. He brought someone out to check our irrigation system to make sure it would support the new yard. It was such a great experience working with a pro. There is no one else I would consider to work on our yard. We brought him out recently to give us an estimate for the back yard-we want to add some things. He was very sensitive to our budget. I have to say a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders when he and his associate fixed our retaining wall. The wall is old and wooden and dirt was coming underneath it- it was starting to lean. We've had no problems with erosion (our biggest concern) since Andrew did our landscape. Everything still looks fantastic. The neighbors were blown away by the transformation.

Andrew and his crew removed all the overgrowth surrounding the house that we purchased. Removed the old sod and replaced it with new Saint Augustine sod. About 15 pallets worth. He cut down a couple of Oak tress that were too close to the septic tank and drain field. Refurbished and replaced the old sprinkler heads. Gave us advice on how to take care of the new lawn. He was kind enough to work with our selection of sod and was able to change the type of sod that we needed, at the 11th hour to boot. All in all, the lawn looks pretty good.

The end result was very nice. Andrew underestimated the amount of mulch needed and asked that I "split the difference" on ten additional bags of mulch for an extra $100 which I did with no reservation. We also asked him to call us to schedule some tree work. Two days after the job was done, when my sprinkler system went on, I noticed geysers in the front yard and back yard. On closer looks, I saw three broken off sprinkler heads lying on the mulch near where they had been sheared off, most likely by the sod cutting machine. I called Hessinger to repair the broken sprinklers for a cost of $208.

I called last week, and he came the very day I called him (Friday). He gave me a fair estimate with advice on what grass to replace our current dead grass with - knowledgeable and willing to help. He was willing to come out and start Monday, but we needed to get a few other estimates. We made our decision Tues, based on cost, knowledge and our needs. We went out of town, but he was able to start the next week, the very next day after we got back home. It took 2 days, and that included adding some needed dirt to even out the yard, and add some sprinkler heads we hadn't originally talk about, but we (as owners) knew it was best to do it all right. That added another $250, but it was well worth getting everything right the first time. Andrew was very professional and obviously passionate about his work. Gave us good easy instructions on what needed to be done to be sure the grass keeps growing well. Ended with assurance to call him if we have any concerns or questions.

Andrew was very responsive from the start. His estimate was timely and professional and very reasonable for the work we needed. He and his assistant showed up on time, and were very curteous. He went out of his way to help explain to me what they would be doing and give me options for plants that he thought would work well in the Florida climate. He was patient and informative, and the end result was better than I could have imagined.

Andrew is very responsive and knowledgeable about plants. He helped us pick out the best plants for each spot in front of the house. We told him we wanted low maintenance plants with low watering needs, and that's what he suggested. He also has a talent for designing beds with great color combinations, varying plants heights and blooming seasons, etc. He researched zoysia grasses for us and came up with the best variety for our area. There were some minor delays during the process, but it was due to the sod or plants not being ready. He won't plant anything that isn't healthy. He also promised to check back with us to see that everything was growing properly. He gave us information about how to care for the sod and all the plants. He gave us a discount for having all the work done at the same time, instead of in two phases, which is how we requested the estimate.

I am extremely happy with this job. It all looks beautiful! Andrew showed up on time to give me my estimate and was extemely helpful in assisting me in deciding which direction to go with my landscaping. He always showed up when he was suppose to and finished the job in a timely manner. He even searched to find the perfect palm for our home. After Andrew was finished with the job there was one area he just didnt quite like the look of, so instead of just staying quiet and seeing if I liked it. He moved the plants to another area and put something new in. Double the plants for us, all free of charge. I think that is a company that takes pride in their work. I would highly recommend S & S landscape and we contracted them again to continue maintaining our property.

We called Andrew and he was over right when he said he would be. He gave us the best price overall so we went with him. He came over and did what others said would take 4 days in 2 days with better plants than we were quoted by the other landscapers. He planted everything right before hurricane Fay and came over when it was done to straighten the bamboo and check the landscaping and make sure it was ok. He did that on his own without us calling and asking him to do it! When he made my vegetable garden he added a pretty fence as a border and didn't even charge us for it. He is knowledgeable about plants and which ones will work best in which areas and he knows which plants to add to get the effect that we were looking for. Andrew actually planted a lot of the plants and was there to supervise the entire job. He didn't just come occasionally to see what was going on and then leave, he actually was there from start to finish. Something we have never seen before! He has come over several times to check the landscaping and to make sure it is ok. We are now having him do more work for us around our yard. He actually comes when he says he will, he comes on time, he did more than he said he would do. We have worked with several different landscapers and were beginning to think that they were all a little shady until we met Andrew.

I contacted Andrew from S & S Landscape on a Wednesday morning. He responded within a few hours. I explained that I needed to re-sod my front lawn and wanted an estimate. He replied that he would be there the next morning. He arrived at the arranged time and gave me an estimate. I paid him for half of the agreed amount and he said that he would start the job the next day. I was happy as I did not expect that he would be able to start the job that soon. He called me the next day and said that when he went to pick up the sod from the sod farm that it looked like it had been sitting for awhile and that he would prefer to come back when with a more fresh cut later in the week. He called me the following Friday and informed me that the fresh sod was ready and he would be finishing the service that day. I met him as he was just about completed and was extremely happy with the end result. Although it took longer than we both anticipated, the job was completed to my satisfaction. Because the service was not completed in the time we had arranged, he offered to do some cutback on some trees in the yard that needed trimming.

Andrew was very prompt to follow up. He has a good eye for design. The installation went well although took a little longer than anticipated. Overall we are very happy with his work.

Andrew showed up for our initial appointment right on time. He was very professional and promised to fax me an estimate within a few hours of leaving my home, which he did. I needed the work done within four days because of travel arrangements, but Andrew was able to finish everything a day early. He also took the time to point out problems with my sprinkler system and even fixed a couple broken heads without my asking or charging for it. Overall, a very professional job that was completed a full day before the deadline, on budget and with high quality sod for both the front and backyard.

They were on time and there the day they promised. They finished the work when they said they would. The sod is very high quality and I am very pleased with this company. I plan to use them again in the future.
