Should you prefer to be more involved in the project and want to take advantage of market situations, a guarantee maximum price or a line item budget with fixed fee may be a great alternative to the more common fixed price contract.

"I usually don't weigh in on peoples opinion, but I take exception to the amount of time stated. The project commenced on October 20, and was final on Dec. 15, while the goal was to be complete by Thanksgiving, additional work was required to complete the project properly. There were other things going on that we were not a part of that may have taken to the end of January, but our original scope with changes was complete in six weeks."
