R Cook & Co

I sent my Louis Vuitton trunk to Mr. Cook in Ocala, FL. The deal was that he would restore the trunk and sell it on consignment. The proceeds of the sale to be split 50/50. I shipped the trunk by UPS on 4/29/2010 at a cost of 170.00. It took several months of phone calls and e-mails before I heard from Mr. Cook. He advised me the trunk took longer than expected to repair and the sale was not as profitable as he hoped. According to Mr.Cook the trunk sold for 3500. It then took several more months of phone calls and e-mails to reach him again. He claimed he had been sick and would send a partial payment. I received 500. with the promise the balance would follow soon. I did receive a 500. check, but have not received the balance. Since then I have called, e-mail, sent certified letters, contacted the Florida Department of Consumer Services and the Federal Trade Commission. Both the Dept. of Consumer Services and FTC tried to contact Mr. Cook, he simply did not respond. At first contact, Mr. Cook seemed honorable and reasonable, but I now see that it was foolish of me to trust someone out of state where I would have no recourse if he proved otherwise. I feel my truck has been stolen and I may never get a resolution. I hope that in getting the word out I may get some closure and prevent someone else from making the same mistake I did.
