Called Family's Choice Electrical Repair to fix a lamppost that had stopped working. they arrived as scheduled (after several others declined the job for one reason or another) which was appreciated, but pricing presented by their electrician was unclear and the troubleshooting he performed only confirmed the problem was exactly what i had told him before any troubleshooting had started... $500... then additional $1500 for lamppost repair... $2k just seems an extremely high cost for the job. I acknowledge trenching a new line was not easy & took time, but the price charged seems very high. $200 of troubleshoot fee was applied to repair cost ($1500 was after discount!); think they should have at least applied entire $500 to repair cost... when i asked for an additional discount, i was told they couldn't go any lower with the charges... really??? They got the job done, but wouldn't recommend them because of their pricing; especially not to seniors on a fixed budget. Advise getting quotes from other electricians.

Things went generally well. They are very nice men, very polite and he was willing to explain everything that he did. The only thing, I misunderstood the advertisement because it said service and 7-point checkup. I didn't understand that 7-point check up. I showed him a light fixture in one of the bedrooms that was turning off and on by itself and my husband and I couldn't figure out what it was. He was able to figure it out. One of those newer type long term bulbs was going bad. It just didn't go out like the regular bulbs and just stop working, it was going bad so it slowly goes bad. So it would go off and on slowly before it finally goes bad. He was able to figure that out and he told me to change the light bulb and it solved the problem. He charged me for it besides what I had already paid online. So I didn't know that that's what was going to happen. It was just one light fixture  and he charged me $89 for that. I thought that was a bit outrageous because there was nothing wrong  with it to begin with.  He was very good at explaining everything he did. He was very professional but as far as price I was not impressed.

The Owner came and did some wiring  and replaced some connectors. It's working fine.

He spent about 1 hour and told me there was no charge for this service.

How many other Companies would do that?

I don't believe there would be very many.

I would use this CO. again, if I ever need electrical work done.

They do good work  and they are honest.

"We are sorry how the wording got placed on the add, we have had people also think the $29 fee was for work when there was 5-6hrs of work...we are working with Angies to try to figure if they can reword it better.. as far as the $99 that covers the 9v batteries and we do not buy store brand type, resetting any smoke detectors that needed reset, and the electricians time there.."

Two light fixtures to be installed. One to swap out in foyer, other one was an under counter light installed in laundry room. Saved money on call, but price of work was outrageous.

"....we do have standard rates set on industry standards, and we are always reviewing them, We try to set our rates on the middle to lower end while providing, uniformed, drug free, level 2 background checked electricians for your family's safety... there is other electricians that will do work for you at a very low rate just to get the work, but will not provide the level of safety and service that we offer, and normally if they are the "Cheap Charlie's" they will be out of business soon with nothing to fall back on when there is a problem with the work, or hire guys that are "electricians" with no background checks. All our work comes with a 1 year warranty on parts and labor and any of the larger jobs like panel changes we have up to 5yr warranties.... We hope that you will consider this when we give an est that covers our highly qualified electricians, time on the site and at your house it was about a 45 min drive both ways, So at $152.10 for our electrician working about 60-90minutes and having a drive of 90 minutes, gas, over 1mill in insurance, workman's comp, taxes, payroll, advertising, government fees, ect, ect. we hope that you can understand the pricing, and we hope to work for you soon."

the company scheduled a date and time for doing the work for us and our neighbor last week. several hours after the proposed time, provider's rep called to say they are running late and rescheduled for monday, today, 3/2 between 12-3.  about 3 30 we received a phone call from provider telling us that they are 'running late' and perhaps they could come at 5 to give an estimate.  they also called on friday afternoon, while we were out asking if they could come (but we weren't at home...).  when we spoke to them the first time we contracted for doing the work, and not for giving an estimate.  the proposed work, hardwiring to fire alarms in the garage and attic as well as changing out the fan in the bathroom for a heater/fan would take several hours as well as wiring several alarms in our neighbor's house, work which would take several hours.
we told them that we contacted then after referral by you, and that we would let you know that this is what had happened. we cancelled this provider and have contacted another company.  hopefully this will work out.

Maybe you do not recall what we talked about because what you have listed here is not correct...When I said $185 she said it was to much and I said I will work with you and discount it for you. She say ok that was good and to come when ever we wanted because there was no hurry, and when I called to set up a time, I was told that she was mad because I didn't call soon enough. Family's Chocie does not do sprinklers for any one, and I was doing this on the side to help her out because she told me, she was all by herself and didn't trust any one and really trusted us, and asked if I would help her out with the sprinklers. I felt bad for her and was going to go out there on a day off and help her out, and I feel spending a 1/2 a day out there working on her system to make it perfect again was a fair price....THIS IS THE WORK THAT WAS TO BE DONE; I quoted $155 to replace 1-2 large Hunter PGP rotor, and 4 PS0412 sprays, adjust ALL sprinklers in the yard, reprogram the clock, check the rain controller, Re-fuel the generator, 4-5hrs labor"

It went very well.  They are very nice people, they’re very professional, and they know what they’re doing.  I intend on using them in the future.  It is an excellent company.   I never met people, especially guys, that are so nice.  Their prices are very reasonable.  I need more work done so I’ll be calling them soon.
