About us

Our services encompass three categories--carpentry, coatings and color-consultation. CARPENTRY--we install chair rail, crown mold, and interior trim. See pictures of interior trim we installed below including cabinetry on which we installed decorative wood trim around drawers and crown mold at the top. COATINGS--paint, stain, and urethane. We fill, caulk and paint or stain interior wood that we install. We have a full-service interior painting program. Entry Door Restoration--interior/exterior After stripping, if needed, we stain and urethane natural wood doors. We repaint existing painted doors. Locks and hardware can be replaced. This is the 3rd time Mr. Baker has worked for us.  His wife helps him with the painting, and his nephew does the carpentry.  I find him completely trustworthy-he has the garage door code, and he works while we are at work.  He's very pleasant, extremely tolerant of pets-especially very "involved" Labradors, and doesn't smoke (so my house doesn't smell like smoke when he leaves).  Since he works alone, the work takes a while, but his work is PERFECTION.  Nothing but.  From the patching to the painting it's perfect.

We contacted Bob because we needed a trim carpenter to remove an existing 30" x 30" cabinet section in our kitchen and replace it with a new 30" x 24" cabinet section.  Bob came in person to quote the job and made an appointment for the work to be done.  His carpenter arrived on time and did a great job.  Worth noting, he priced the job by the hour rather than by the work.  This can be scary if you don't know the contractor, but his carpenter was done in just under 5 1/2 hours which was reasonable.  Also, Bob came after the job was complete to see the work was done correctly.

The door looks great!  Bob took no shortcuts: he came back on 3 different days to be sure the stain had time to dry correctly between each coat.  He used premium brushes and stain.  The brushes were small, so he could get a fine, even coverage without being sloppy.  When time came for clean-up, there was very little to do, so he actually cleaned some old stains on the concrete porch that had been there for years!  Bob was courteous, professional, and friendly.  If you need carpentry, paint, or stain work, don't hesitate to call him.  I won't!

Even though it would've been more efficient to stain the rails before laying them, Bob was willing to move the soil away from the rails after they were laid and stain the rails to match the deck. The walkway looks nicer and much more spacious.
The whole deck looks very good.
The windows look very nice. I have faith they won't deteriorate like they did before.
The employee also did a value-added thing for me, which was make a kind of dam at the end of a ditch where I was laying some riprap to collect soil from running water. Another added service was this: The week before, I was having trouble with a weedeater and the same employee helped me with it. That had nothing to do with the job, but he was willing to help, which I appreciated very much.

A kitchen cabinet company on the south side of Indianapolis recommended Bob and Becky to us because we had some cabinets removed and we wanted to lighten up the rest of the kitchen. We had Bob and Becky come out and remove wallpaper from our kitchen and living room and paint the dark-colored cabinets a lighter color, and paint the living room, office, stairway walls, and hall to match. He also stained all the woodwork that was old-looking, in the rooms he painted. We were favorably impressed with Bob's work ethic and professionalism and with Becky's eye for color.
Since then Bob and Becky have repainted two bathrooms and three bedrooms for us, plus touched up the kitchen cabinets. There is hardly a room in the house they haven't helped us with.

This is the 2nd time Mr. Baker has worked for us.  We find him entirely professional, and so pleasant.  His work is of the highest quality, and he doesn't cut corners to save time.  (and maybe not important to everyone, but...) he doesn't smoke, so you your house doesn't smell like cigarettes for a week while he's there painting.

He did a beautiful job and it looks great. He had another person strip the door and then he refinished it. He also repaired a flat ceiling in the basement. His work is impeccable and he is a perfectionist!

Mr. Baker works mostly alone, but occasionally with his wife. They are absolutely meticulous in their work habits. They were able to patch a crack in our wall that another painter didn't have any success with. The work they did is absolutely flawless, and exactly what I expected. They clean up every evening. The only negative think I could say is now I want them to paint the rest of the house! They charged us exactly what they estimated.

This is the third time we have used Bob Baker for interior painting. The fact that we keep going back to him says a lot. As a painter, he's extremely thorough and detail oriented.
