I was looking for someone to come in and repair and maintain the pool deck - it is tiny pebbles with a sealent (poly-pebble). We had a stamped concrete porch installed around our house in New York and I wanted to get that installed around our pool in Florida. When Stephen got to our home and looked at the pool deck, he said that he did not like to do the stamped concrete and he suggested another idea - concrete coating - I told him I was not interested in that. He suggested that I keep the poly-pebble and that he could repair it and put sealant on top of it and that it would be good for about 15-20 years. Two weeks after the first appointment, he said he would begin the process of cleaning the mold from the pool deck. We went back to New York for Christmas and Stephen knew that we would be gone for that time. I called Stephen shortly after Christmas and told him we would be staying in New York for a while longer due to an unexpected surgery. He said that he would begin clenaing the pool deck about 2-3 days before we would get back so that we would not have to smell the chemicals when we got back. Before we had left, I gave Stephen the number of our regular pool guy for any questions or concerns. I called Stephen about three weeks before we would be home and he said he would begin cleaning the pool deck. When we got back to our Florida home, no work had been performed. I called him immediately and he said he would be out the next day. He came out and walked around for about an hour then knocked on the door to tell me that he would not be able to do what he originally proposed. He suggested putting the concrete coating on top of the poly pebble, once again, and I told him that I needed to speak to my husband. I spoke to my husband and we set up another appointment to meet with Stephen to pay him for the mold removal and tell him that we were not interested in the coating that he wanted to do and were going to look at other service providers. My husband asked him how long the job would take and he said that it would be a week and a half, so my husband talked me into staying with Stephen. He began laying down the concrete coating and it was pure white, he was also using his hands to adjust the concrete - which is not what you are supposed to do with this type of material because it settles in a certain way to create the desired design. Once that was dry, he began wiping a stain on the top of it with a sponge. The end product was supposed to resemble antiqued terracotta but because Stephen used white concrete and the incorrect stain to mix with the terracotta coloring, the deck looks like solid terracotta. I allowed him to finish the job - which took almost an entire month when he had originally promised only a week and a half - and paid him to leave. I feel as though Stpehen had no idea of what he was doing with this product. I am embarassed of my pool deck and I am now finishing the job myself to try to make it look as good as possible.
