4 years ago she purchased a new Goodman system from Ellsworth. 6 months ago, during another service call, the technician noticed a leak which could not at that time be traced. During this service call the leak was identified as coming from the evaporator coil, which now needs to be replaced.
The Goodman warranty covers ONLY parts for 10 years, not labor after 1 year. My Mom was told that the labor cost for the coil replacement would be $900. She's a senior on a fixed income, and this is a huge anount for her. She was very upset and worried that she wouldn't be able to afford the costs, and would therefore not have air conditioning in the Florida weather. When contacted, Goodman, the manufacturer, showed no concern or interest in addressing the situation.
The folks at Ellsworth have decided that they will absorb most of the labor costs, and will only charge her a fraction of the total amount.
I'm grateful that this company has retained their humanity and compassion and understands how to treat customers. Thanks especially to Jack for his kindness and professionalism.
I contracted with this company for 2 house; one for 1 year - 2 calls and my house -2 years 4 calls. They only serviced the 1 year contract once. When I asked the lady said she would add the call to my 2 year contract for a total of 5.I didn't get a call or card telling me when the service was due. .I had to call and tell the lady it was time for my service. When my unit was not cooling, I called, a tech came, put in 2 lbs. of coolant. While he was making out the bill, his boss called. The tech told him it was a leak, but he couldn't find it as both of his leak detectors were broken.. He was told to go to another call . No on came to find and fix the leak. I called another company a week later; the tech t and my unit has been o k since. I would not use or recommend Ellsworth Heating and Cooling to anyone.
Thomas and Daniel were the techs. They arrived ahead of time and were very pleasant and courteous. Went immediately to work and removed old unit and old ductwork. Then started installing all new. I've used a lot of different A/C men through the years and this is the first time I have ever felt confident in their knowledge and secure to leave them alone in my house. These young men worked like gangbusters to get this job done and done right. They answered any questions I had they and were just honest men. Remember them?? It's been so long since I've been so thoroughly thrilled with someone's service that I feel so blessed. I was sad to see them leave!
The complete job was done in just over 3 hours!
Ellsworth Heating and Cooling are number one in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they are not contented from making a reasonable profit from installs then you can be sure that if you buy from them instead of on your own you will pay an exorbitant price. Caveat emptor...
