 + -1 moreI recently bought a used piano from Goodwill that was in dire need of tuning. Mr. Smith came to tune the piano which he did. He also took the time to explain things that were wrong with the piano as it turns out it was 50 years old. He suggested to me not to put any more money into this piano as I am just learning. Instead he suggested to wait until I was ready to upgrade in the future. I appreciate the fact that he honestly told me it could cost anywhere from 500 to over 1000 to get the piano back where it should be and it would not be worth spending the money. I would use his services again in the future when I go to look for a better piano.

 + -1 moreOverall, seemd like a nice guy and professional. In and out, price was fair.
Description of Work: We had bought a piano and it needed tuning. Didn't know any tuners in town, had no experience with any local tuners and used Mr. Smith on a recommendation. Prompt, professional, tuned and left, but there were one or two keys that seemed off to me. I called and mentioned it to him and he offered to come back out and check them but asked that I just try it for a week or so and see what I thought. The thought of having to make another appointment and have him back out bothered me so I never bothered calling back. Couple of months later, piano sounded like a h tonk piano again. Tuning with a machine is fine but I'm going to look for an old-school tuner next time, one who tunes by ear and listens to the underlying tones. Mr Smith has excellent references at some of the local music shops and teachers and my experience may be unusual but...I think I'll be calling someone else next time.
